As someone who grew up with two dentists in the family (my uncle and grandfather in Middletown), I…read moream familiar with the changing nature of dental care over the years. This is especially true in a rural community (I grew up on a farm in Fayette County), so I am pleased to have finally discovered Dr. Julie Overberg for my own dental health. It should be pointed out that Dr. Overberg has been practicing in Hillsboro for about two decades. My previous long-term dentist sold his practice a few years ago, and I recently decided to search for a permanent replacement after depending on a temporary solution. Following thorough research, I was delighted to find Dr. Overberg (and her superb team) at the end of my dental rainbow. Based on my experience so far, I feel lucky to have found her practice and exceptional staff. I am a senior citizen and military veteran (Navy Supply Corps officer), and it is increasingly difficult to find medical professionals that will happily work with both of these groups. For example, I was shocked to find during my research of current local dentists that many actively discourage new patients who rely on Medicare Advantage for dental insurance. In contrast, Dr. Overberg's staff could not have been more helpful in facilitating our use of the AARP Medicare coverage provided by UnitedHealthcare. In today's social media climate, I was not surprised to find that the rare negative comment about Dr. Overberg was posted anonymously in a suspicious way that typically reflects a paid negative post sponsored by a competitor. I strongly suggest that the overwhelming positive reviews (predominantly four and five stars) are much more credible than isolated and anonymous critiques. Please consider my own assessment as a 5-star review.

I'll start by saying that the dental hygienists are very friendly and do an excellent job cleaning (Casey is a lovely person who does great cleanings). However, there were a LOT of red flags about this dentist. For one, Dr. Overberg told me that I had a cavity. I have NEVER had a cavity before. She seemed in a hurry when I had a couple of questions about it, so I had a dental assistant confirm with me which tooth had a cavity. I scheduled an appointment to get it filled several months later, but I just didn't feel right about it-- so I cancelled. 6 months later I went to another dentist in Greenfield, told him about the cavity. We did thorough x-rays, and he confirmed that I had NO CAVITIES. Dr. Overberg had lied to me? What was her motive-- to make some additional money on my ignorance? I read some other reviews online that she had misdiagnosed cavities, and I brushed it off-- but then IT HAPPENED TO ME. Who knows how many people's teeth she is unnecessarily ruining?! Another thing that rubbed me the wrong way-- they flaunt botox, literally in your face with big posters in front of the chairs-- as a treatment for TMJ. They try to sell you on it, but you have to keep getting regular injections of it for relief.
