    Nannies On The Go

We contracted with Nannies on the Go in November 2017 for placement of a permanent part-time nanny…read moreand temporary care while selecting permanent nanny. It is now April 2018 and we have neither a permanent or temporary nanny in place. Nannies on the Go stopped responding to us in early January when they failed to have any temporary nannies available although we provided a two week notice of care needed. (While long, this is an abbreviated version of the issues we encountered.) We paid a significant amount for them to provide permanent placement candidates as well as unlimited temporary care. Although we provided an extensive description of our family and what we were looking for, none of the candidates were provided with this information. As we shared this information with the during the interview, it was clear that they weren't a fit for our family. We were even provided nanny candidates that lived more than an hour from our home as well as ones with availability that was not in line with what we needed. As one reviewer indicated, no support is provided by the owner. Our experience was consistent with this sentiment. We had one candidate show up almost 30 minutes late to an interview. During the interview, she advised that she was looking for a full-time position during the day and not the part-time afternoon position that we needed. She had not been provided our family profile, information on our our needs or anything other than our address and that we had two children. She wasn't even told that we have two school age boys. After the interview, I called the owner and explained what had just happened. Her response is that the interviewee was just confused and flustered and in need of additional training. We interviewed a woman, very sure of what she was looking for and capable of providing, and we were not a fit for her. Both us and the candidate were both very confused why she would have been sent to us. I was very frustrated after speaking with the owner as she took absolutely no responsibility and immediately placed blame on the candidate. During the time that we were looking for a permanent placement, we were provided with temporary care. We weren't provided with any options, only a name of someone who would be providing care, typically only a week at a time and the late in the day before care was needed. This was especially concerning as this individual was needed to pick our children up from school and drive them home. How many people are comfortable trusting someone they've never met, someone their children have never seen to pick them up from school? Sounds like a plot from a horror movie. I would question any parent who would agree to that. Yet, that is exactly what Nannies on the Go would expect from us, even after explaining that I would never be the parent that would be okay with that situation. My tipping point came when the last temporary nanny was placed with our family. Nannies on the Go gave her a glowing recommendation about how she had been with them for a year and how engaging she was with children. After a couple of days with our family, I felt uncomfortable with her around our children. I was assured that I was misinterpreting the situation. I was confident that I wasn't and hired my own investigator to do a background check and was informed that the nanny provided by Nannies on the Go had a criminal background. I never allowed her back in my home or near our children. The owner never addressed the situation even though pre-screening and doing comprehensive background checks are why parents pay the high fees they charge for their services. This was horrifying. The owner refuses to acknowledge their failure to provide fully vetted candidates and temporary nannies as well as to return our emails and phone calls. My goal of this review is to save another family from a similar experience or even something more horrible and ending up on the nightly news.

It's extremely disheartening that I can not recommend Sharon's business, Nannies on the Go. As a…read moreprofessional nanny who has been on both ends of the business. I owned my own agency and I've worked as a professional nanny for over 14 years. I went to her agency looking for a local family to assist with their childcare. I went on numerous interviews and worked as a on-call temp for months. Sharon recommend me to a family as a live-in nanny. Unfortunately, she didn't do her due diligence and interview the family as well as she should have. Every family and nanny goes through (or should) a full interview process before they are accepted. You fill out an application and go over your experience and what you are looking for. For the families it should be more invasive: number of children, who the children's parents are, child(s)/family history and so on. Sharon who was representing me at the time didn't know 75% of the families history or the child's. When I asked her important questions, she replied with, " I thought you'd know." I was extremely disappointed because I was blindsided by the lack of responsibility she was taking regarding my representation. During my short stay w/a particular family I reached out to Sharon many times asking for advice and trying to get clarity on the situation and my contract. I was not the best fit for this family. Now, myself and the family could have avoided any wasted time, money and sadness if Sharon would have done her research and put forth those exceptional services (as described in her mission statement). (It's very hard on children to have different nannies coming and going.) I feel absolutely terrible for the family going through what they did but as a professional I know when I'm a good fit and I know when I'm not. For Sharon, as the working agent it was her responsibility to fulfill the contract on both ends while representing myself and also representing the family. She poorly represented herself and her business. She would not be held accountable or take responsibility for the situation and said I was on my own. I've never worked with an agent who didn't follow through with their clients. (Over the years I've worked with over seven agencies all over the country and they have all advocated for me through my terms) If you have questions, comments, concerns you should always be able to go to your agent to seek advice and guideline. For me, Sharon ignored my phone calls and emails regarding the matter. She instead texted me numerous times to work on-call shifts. I explained, I did not feel comfortable taking on any temporary work until we discuss the currently family. She completely ignored all correspondences for weeks! If you are looking for a professional nanny agency do your research, read reviews, ask as many questions as you see fit, read the contract carefully before signing. There is a great deal of cost associated with hiring an agency. See pricing on Nannies on the Go website. From my experience Sharon provides babysitting services not professional nanny services. She does not take the time to properly match families and nannies. There is a great deal of effort and information that needs to be collected in order to have the best possible success! It's very important to look over nanny resumes and family histories to match nannies and families accordingly. It's also good to know the personalities and career goals! This makes for a successful match and longtime commitment for both parties. I want to note, I read reviews from a few years ago and a mother went through the same situation I did. It's very sad when you put your trust, time, money, children, career in the hands of someone who takes advantage. I unfortunately had to seek additional guidance and hire an attorney for the losses I endured with Nannies on the Go.
