She listens and finds ways to correlate significant topics into our discussions, all the while, working our way back to tie everything together and put it all into perspective. We have been capable of finding pre-existing burdens that I was not aware existed, and the core of certain issues I was surprised to find out myself. End of summer, fall of 2018.. my family was going through a lot. My dad had an attempted suicide in…read moreaugust 2018 and went to a facility for about a week. He was released and was doing follow up therapy at the Swanson center. He was very charming and could convince an ordinary person on the street that he was just fine... all while telling his family that he will kill himself. My mom (his wife of 34 years) called the Swanson center trying to figure out if he was even going to therapy and inquire how he was doing and let them know that while he may be putting on a front, he is still threatening suicide. The Swanson center refused to acknowledge to my mom (his next of kin, emergency contact) that he was even a patient.. while she knew that he was. She tried to warn his therapist, but was sent to voicemail, of what he was actually telling his family aka: his plans of suicide, and my mom never got any sort of acknowledgement or answer. Well my dad did kill himself shortly after and we still didn't get any answers from this facility. My mom got a bill in the mail from the center and called and told them about what he did.. still nothing. No acknowledgment. I was fired up back then about all this and finally called back in 2018 and spoke to someone to please just speak to the therapist about what they personally had seen in him. He did what he did, so I understand it does not make a difference.. but it would've really helped to have had a professional take that knew him. This lady promised the therapist would call my mom and at least have a conversation with her. And absolutely nothing. It's now 4 years later so I can write as a person not in the middle of tragedy, and I still think this is so messed up and it fires me up just thinking about it. I did not follow up any further back then because I was just so exhausted from everything that had happened and honestly just grieving. The lack of decency this facility has shown my family is something I hope no one else has to ever experience.
