I've been going to Let's Go Hair for the past 20 years. The owner is so personable and her OG staff are amazing. My hair stylist is Christine and she does a phenomenal job, never disappoints and gives me exactly what I want. I also have worked with Sabrina and she too is great. In my 20 years as their patron, I have only experienced an issue once and when I expressed my dissatisfaction, it was addressed and remedied immediately and free of charge. They are clean and knowledgeable. The salon is huge and such a great space, with the little frenchie. They offer various drinks such as coffee, tea, carbonated water, and snacks. My hair is purple and very long, so my hair appointments take literally the entire day. Everywhere I go though, I get compliments on my hair all the time. Some people would say this salon is expensive, but to me, the quality they offer is worth it. I've been to cheaper salons and have had really bad experiences. Because my hair is high maintenance and costly, they do a great job of giving me some samples of their products. They are always educating me on how to care for my hair and how to use various products. I have been coming here for two years now. I love Isabel. She is professional, thorough and detailed-oriented. Kristine is also really good too. I've done traditional highlights, haircuts, balayage and cover grey and styling. The interior is modern and clean. They will offer you complimentary water, coffee, tea, and sparkling water. This salon is located in old town Monrovia off Myrtle and across the street from the public library. The stylists at this salon tend to take their time and let the coloring sit longer, which I have come to appreciate greatly. Except the first time when I went, I didn't know, that their services take longer and ended up running late to my event, which was stressful. Now I plan extra time when I go. Was in need of quick trim of my hair and bangs and trying to time it to grow out enough to my liking for a trip later in the summer. Let's Go was super close by and had great ratings so I sent an inquiry via Yelp. Within a few hours, I had a response and appointment with stylist Judy for the very next day! As far as my trim experience goes - Judy was fantastic! She was ready right on time, super friendly and welcoming, and did a great job on my trim - just as I asked. I would most definitely book Judy again! And there was a beautiful young woman getting an updo in the chair next to me and it was magnificent! I was impressed how gorgeous it was so they definitely do great work here! They have an online appointment portal that seemed easy to use and I'll try it next time - but I was hesitant initially bc the prices seemed quite exorbitant and wanted to be sure I wasn't mistaken so I sent an inquire instead. Turns out, yes, their prices are shocking imo - for just a tiny trim of my hair and bangs (less than an inch off) it was $70!! And that's not including the tip! No shampooing or styling even! So that was quite jarring for me - but the prices seem to pretty standard in this part of Monrovia. Be prepared for sticker shock lol. But to their credit, the shop is in an excellent location, is clean, modern, and chic and the stylists do great work. There are some parking spaces directly out front but it's limited - but the surrounding area is walkable with tons of free public lots. LGH, or Let's Go Hair Salon, has been a staple for many years of my life. I had initially found Christine through Yelp reviews when were a small shop in San Gabriel. I had come to her to fix my hair that was dyed incorrectly, as my black virgin hair turned orange when I asked for a caramel. I was channeling the orange cat energy for a while until I went blonde with Christine. She's been my go-to since then, from the Pasadena location to the current Monrovia location. I played around with different blondes a few years ago until Christine created a mix based on what I showed her on Pinterest. Maybe I'll try other colors again, but I'm still in love with the color! Her balayage is so gorgeous and she takes her time to build dimension if that's what you want. I love the different colors in my hair and how it looks both in the daylight and night. Scheduling is always a breeze and they confirm your appointments via text. I've spoken to Judy (the owner) several times over text or phone and she's always been responsive and nice. The Monrovia location is right next to Old Town Pizza and Seasoning Alley (great food spots if you're feeling hungry). Same furniture as Pasadena, but much more spacious. They just started offering snacks and beverages while you get your hair done too! I always leave feeling rejuvenated, smelling good, and receiving compliments on my hair. After over a year in quarantine, I was ready for some fresh hair. And with a new job that didn't restrict the color of my hair, I wanted to finally get the ashy grey color I've always wanted. After messaging a few different salons, Judy at Let's Go Hair was the most responsive. She made me feel so comfortable from beginning to end. Not only that, but she was honest about my results and process to help me understand why I couldn't achieve what I wanted. Note: don't ever use dark brown or black boxes dye at home unless you plan to never color your hair again. Before my actual appointment, she also let me come in to do a complimentary hair strand test. This process is important if your hair has gone through various processes, so we could be sure if the results would be achieved. This was when reality hit me and I realized I had to change it up. Judy was super helpful in helping me understand and find other options for me. On the day of my appointment, she gave me a cut for some layers and volume. Then we went for some babylights at the front and top to frame my face. Although it doesn't seem like a lot of color in my hair, it shows through much more in the sunlight and gives me such a refreshed look. I am also obsessed with the color that we ended up with. I can't wait to come back and finally get my dream look, but I am very happy with the slow progress we are making towards it. I ended up paying $250 for the color and cut. I also liked that Judy was very reasonable when trying to keep to my budget and finding alternatives for me. Found this place through Yelp and I am so, so glad to have gone here. Place is by appointment only but they were great at taking me in on the same day after a few hours. I have really, thick, wavy dry hair so not a lot of salons would know how to cut a bob right away. After I showed Christine a picture of what I wanted, she immediately knew the hair style, asked all the right questions regarding length and texture and went ahead with the wash and cut. She explained what she was going to do and asked me after a few cuts to confirm the length. Same goes with the bangs. She made sure that I was happy with the length all the way through the cut. This is not something a lot of salons do, which I found to be very considerate. Salon will be moving to Monrovia by the end of the month. Prices are super reasonable too. Seeing how great the cut is now that I'm looking at it closely at home, I wished I have tipped way more than I did. I'll definitely have to make it up next time. I just started going to see Judy at this hair salon, and I've learned so much about Hair since I've been coming here for just a few months. Judy is extremely communicative and thoroughly explains every question I have. You can tell she's passionate and truly cares! I also really appreciate that she is able to explain a lot of things to me as if I'm a fifth grader because I feel like the process of coloring and bleaching hair can be confusing, especially if you have Asian hair and what it takes to achieve that may be different compared to other types of hair. I asked Judy about possibly layering the back of my head ...she found a picture of a layered cut and I just absolutely loved it ....so she cut my hair and then she took a picture of the back of my head ....(I didn't know she took my picture).... When she showed me the pic... I honestly thought it was the first picture she had shown me before the cut....and I'm thinking.. "that's nice???"....but then I said "that's not my hair right?" ... and she said "No, that IS your hair !" I had a hard time believing that it was my hair since it looked so healthy, full, and YOUTHFUL....I still kept insisting that, that was NOT my hair.... & Judy kept telling me "That is your hair!"she stated, "that is your 'hand' in the picture .......and yeah, it was my (fat)hand !!!!!! I am still utterly amazed that the back of my head looks like hair of a 20 or 30-year-old since I am 58 and don't color my hair (I don't ever expect my hair to look really good, EVER) ....I love the picture so much that I actually added it to my Google profile pic in my personal and work email accounts and my contacts profile pic !!!!!....(and yes, I know I'm insane) I'm one of those people who deletes 99% of pictures taken of me and I can't believe, that this picture ....of the back of my head ....is me !!!!! Receptionist / stylist was very rude- informed me it was impossible to take hair from red to blonde it is a "5 year" commitment when having red hair. I understand different requests and hair have different considerations- I was inquiring 5 months in advance due to these considerations and was met with "that will be impossible". Will be taking my business elsewhere as I have had this done before and know it is not impossible to complete. Sabrina was really patient, kind and truly wanted to make me feel better. It was scary to take a chance again on a new salon (the before photo should explain why I felt this way). DO NOT GO SEE STEPHANIE HARPER!!! I booked an appointment with her in person and was looking forward to a moment to myself after being displaced due to the Altadena fires. Without having a house or child care I really had to move a lot of mountains to make this appointment happen. 8 min before my scheduled time she texted that she "just realized" was 30 minutes behind and had her client in the shampoo bowl that needed a full blowout. I was forced to cancel due to no child care after driving all the way out. She had no remorse for her lack of time management and just kept saying "these things happen." I've been a red head, a platinum blonde, and now midnight blue and she always goes above and beyond to make sure that I get the exact color that I want. Thanks Vanessa for truly showing your perfectionist ways through your hair styling! Other stylists said this would take two to three sessions but you did it in one! She took me from black hair with blonde highlights to this light blonde ombré! It is absolutely gorgeous and I have received so many compliments on it. Our session took a bit of time (about 8 hours) so I was extremely tired by the end of it but Vanessa was patient and focused the entire time. The other stylists are also super sweet! This is usually my go to hair salon spot if I'm in the area. They do really awesome cuts and coloring, and it's become a trusted place. It's easy to make an appointment over the phone, and I like that the person I talked to for the appointment can suggest who is the best stylist available to do what I need. The decor inside looks hip and generally clean. The only thing that I'd change is that I would've preferred for the person who did my cut to wear a mask. Being that close with someone indoors was a little weird for me, and I would've felt safer if we both had masks on. They also washed my hair at the same station after someone had used it five minutes before me despite having other unused stations available. I didn't see anyone clean it before I used it too. But I'm also super careful/clean freak so I might be asking for too much. There's parking in the back lot, and you can enter from the back. I made the mistake of coming to the front, which was locked for some reason, and I had to knock very loudly to get anyone's attention. When I called, no one picked up, so I had to wait a bit to get let in. This last cut that I got wasn't that great after I washed it (looked amazing after they washed and styled it though), so this combined with the no mask wearing for some of their stylists is making me question whether I should return or not. read more
