Mrs. Jess at Village Speech is the best! We came to her for feeding therapy when my son was only…read moreeating 2-3 foods. He is now eating a wide variety of foods and absolutely thriving thanks to her! But beyond the results, what made Mrs. Jess truly special was who she is. She is warm, welcoming, and has the most positive spirit. My son genuinely looked forward to his sessions every single week because they were so fun. He would want to bring her his newest toy car to show off, and whenever he tried a new food at home, he would ask me to take a picture so that "Mrs. Jess could see and be so proud." When a four year old is excited to go to therapy and wants to share his wins with his therapist, you know you've found someone remarkable. She didn't just help him eat - she built his confidence and made the whole experience joyful for our whole family. Thank you Mrs. Jess & Village Speech!

My mother had a stroke and went through intensive rehabilitation at Spaulding in Charlestown, MA…read more After insurance rejected continued coverage at Spaulding, I had only one day to find a place she could receive step down care for the remainder of her rehabilitation before going back to independent living in a senior community. Sachem had high ratings on paper, so we chose it without checking it out first. Big mistake. The day she transferred in, I went to check the place out, only to be greeted by a strong sewage smell at the front door. I was too late, she was already in a double room. Within 4 days, I saw a significant decline in all of the progress my mother had made. Her speech started to become unclear again and she was confined to a wheel chair or bed. I asked the head nurse what steps I would need to take to transfer her to another, better step down facility. That's the only time things started to change. I met with the coordinators of social services, physical and occupational therapy, and nursing to discuss a plan. In the meantime, some of my mothers belongs went missing. They moved her to a private room and she ended up staying for the rest of the approved time at Sachem, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I had to argue that I simply wanted my mother treated with the same courtesy and care they would give their OWN mothers. Apparently, they don't care about their own moms, because little changed. If there was anything good from the experience, it would be that it helped my mother start to process her fear of additional strokes, because she wanted out of Sachem so badly.
