I had an appointment with Kate at 5:30 for a color. But I got to the salon at 5 and she got me right in! So I didn't have to wait 30 mins which was good. The lady at the desk offered me coffee or water. Then when Kate came to get me, she shook my hand, was very nice and offered me water and coffee as well. She took my coat and bag and made sure I was comfortable. I told her what I wanted, she understood and brought out a book full of sample hair colors so I could elaborate more. Then she brought me a few magazines to look at while she made my dye. She was very nice and friendly and was very easy to talk to! Kept the conversation going. After I got my hair colored, she styled it too. She blow dried it and then straightened it. My bangs were in rough shape, so she softened them and made them look 1000000% better!!! I left feeling VERY HAPPY! I LOVE MY COLOR NOW! Level Salon is very small and that's what I love. I love the feel of it and everyone there seemed so happy and friendly. It was the first salon I've been to since I moved to Mpls in August and will probably be the only I go to! AND DID I MENTION THE PRICE? For a color, it was $55. Plus she did a few other things to it. I had no cash so I couldn't leave a tip...but I wish I had. When I was ready to leave, she even put my coat on for me. VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE! All in all, this is a wonderful salon. Kate is great. But I'm sure the others are great too. I recommend this to anyone. Not too sure what they do for African American hair, but they had options for it....like blow outs. I saw Kelly at Level Salon and she was great from start to end. I have colored my hair from a few different places and every visit had seemed to make my hair look worse. I told Kelly what I had had done and how it was different from what I wanted. I had visible regrowth at my roots and my ends had blended together from all the color, making my hair look really dark at the top and really light at the bottom. She took a good amount of time at the beginning to really understand what I wanted and asked questions to be sure she understood. She used dye that allowed her to bypass the bleach, saving my hair, and the end result was perfect. She gave me the color I wanted through the roots and even managed to blend out the lighter, brassier color at my ends to make it look like a real blend. I was absolutely impressed, I didn't expect it to turn out as great as it did given what she had to work with. She was so nice and bubbly and so was everyone at the salon. I used to see Tiffany, but will never go here again after having a horrible experience. I paid $72 for the worst haircut I have ever received. I wanted a simple long bob, all the same length, instead received an uneven chunk out of one side of my head. No blending at all and the only fix is to get fringe bangs which I never asked for or wanted. After asking for a refund, I was ignored by Tiffany and the salon owner. There is no accountability at this salon as it is a "rent your chair" business model and each hairdresser makes their own prices and rules. A basic haircut turned into a nightmare of waiting for my "half-bang" on one side to grow out and out of $72. read more

The best in the biz!!!!! I've been getting my hair cut by Jeffery for years and don't think I could ever see anyone else. Aside from his hilarious stories, lovely conversation and just all around being so dang pleasant, he has truly mastered this hair cutting thing. He's got fantastic ideas, isn't afraid to tell me when something isn't going to work with my features, and always leaves me thrilled with the result. Passion radiates from this man. I've been taking my son to see Jaime at Level Salon for about 7-8 years (he is 15). He has long hair and Jaime gets it! She has mastered the long-haired-boy look. I make the 45 minute drive about once a month because she is the only stylist he will allow to cut his hair. I also see Jaime for low-lighting to cover just some of the grey. Jaime matched my real hair color perfectly so that it looks like I am just starting to get some grey vs. being very grey as I am. The atmosphere at Level Salon is warm and welcoming. Such a fun and funky space. The staff is friendly, top notch and professional. When I moved from Minneapolis to Chicago, I really wanted to tuck Margie into my back pocket as she is the BEST :) I try and plan my cuts around when I'm back in town visiting. She actually listens to what you want and will do exactly that or offer up other suggestions that might work too. I also love that they feature local artists on their walls for purchase. The best haircut experience I've had in over a decade. I took a risk and switched my stylists (I've had the same stylist for the last 10 years) wanting something new...and I can't be happier. Jaime did a phenomenal job. I had very long hair and decided to cut it short. I brought a picture with me and Jaime nailed it...I am very picky about my hair and I know I'm not an easy customer. I've had great experiences at Level Salon. Margie's my girl but I've seen the results from the other stylists and everyone there seems to be top notch & professional. Not sure what the reviewer is thinking comparing it to Cost Cutters- must have gotten lost.
