This individual has behaved in an unprofessional manner and has a habit of speaking negatively about and defaming some of their students. In particular, this person has publicly accused Sammy of being a rapist and a pedophile without providing any evidence to support these serious allegations. These accusations are false, damage Sammy's reputation, and create a hostile and unsafe environment. His class became boring only doing repetitive bag work and no ring work. A lot of the regulars quit as well, I tried to hang in, but it just wasn't as fun or great workout doing by yourself or with one other. I still have credit for 10 classes and wasn't worth it. I took the kickbox cardio class with Carley, the owner, and she was so energetic and motivating. You can tell she really cares about the students and encourages people to push themselves. The class was structured into segments that use different combinations of kickboxing moves and then a section of abs at the end. You are always moving and it is really fun. The studio was big enough that everyone had enough room and the music choices definitely helped keep the energy up. This was a fantastic workout for a VERY reasonable price, only $8!!!! Then if they changed the plans of the classes, then myself was not properly either reimburse or apportioned something comparable without having to ask. They would've just let me throw my money for absolutely nothing. The stress, time, and energy of the negotiations of this, and then being asked several times and my willingness to tell the managers/admin why I did not want to rejoin the gym made for a very unpleasant experience. When I would try to do the classes which I paid for in advance but then after the changeover, the staff who taught the classes didn't seem to be getting reimburse properly and it was a struggle to sign up what I had paid for. Why I couldn't just be offered 4 free shakes or 50% of the full amount I paid for a few classes at that time as I had used about half of what I paid for, because that is the equivalent amount I didn't use at that time is beyond me. The system where managers supposedly cannot reimburse or offer something reasonably comparable with flexibility where the customer is negotiating a reasonable request from the beginning is aggravating and very absurd. Over 2 years later, I am still on their e-mal list. I have requested many times to be removed from the e-mail list and they keep sending me things, but under a different name usually because personnel change. This is a gym with good parking and they keep the equipment in reasonable shape overall, but the system needs to change greatly. I had to think about writing this review because it has been so long, but it is totally relevant and related to when I was with this particular Edge for 1 year and 2 or 3 months. This works for me living in two states EXCEPT the branches I've been to in Manhattan have a lot to be desired. I'm not keen on going back to any of them. This week I returned to Ardmore. I hadn't been in awhile and it hit me how good this gym is. Machines in working order, well laid-out floor plan, clean, nice locker room -- nothing lacking! I wish I could replicate the experience in NYC.
