STAY AWAY FROM LEVIN LAW! I am very glad I paid the retainer by credit card becasue I was able to dispute the charge and have it credited back to my account. Initially they were very responsive. But once I paid the retainer and provided the documentation and information for them to initiate probate of the estate, I was totally ghosted. They failed to respond to multiple emails and phone calls. I was repeately told the attorney I was working with was in a meeting with a client when I called and assured he would call me back. That never happened. I even emailed the owner of the firm and got no response. After several weeks of this I disputed the credit card charge and notified Levin Law that they no longer were authorized to represent me or the estate. Do not wastse your time with this law firm. The level of service I received throughout this transaction has been extremely disappointing and unacceptable. I spoke with the attorney, Brian, for less than five minutes during the first week of representation and never heard from him again. Closing was initially expected within 20 days; however, the initial paperwork was not sent until well after that timeframe, despite it needing to be sent on April 2nd. Had it not been for the efforts of my real estate agent, the delay could have jeopardized the entire deal. Their paralegal, Kiddie, clearly had no idea what she was doing. Throughout the process, I was never provided with a closing checklist or proper guidance regarding required items such as fire inspections, water meter readings, and other critical closing obligations. I ultimately had to handle nearly all of the legwork myself that I could know attain a real estate law degree. At one point, I was even sent contracts related to an account that was not mine. I requested a single phone call on multiple occasions and never received any direct communication from anyone other than the paralegal. Additionally, the closing documents I received just one day before closing contained numerous errors, including incorrect information regarding both the property's municipality and my current residence. Because I was never informed about the water meter reading requirement, I was forced to scramble less than two hours before closing to obtain the necessary documentation. To make matters worse, the mortgage payoff request number presented at closing did not match the payoff information provided directly to me by the mortgage company the previous day. I needed an attorney to handle a real estate matter and received some calls and emails expressing interest. They confirmed the initial consultation for 5 PM but never entered the appointment in their calendar. Mr. Levin forgot the appointment after replying to my confirmation 5 hours before. When 5:15 came without a call I called the office and was told initially that i was not on the calendar, and then that there was a mix up. 24 hours after this I got an email asking to reschedule. I used the Brooklyn office for a simple coop closing. Para legal lost my official documents. These were in my possession for over 30 years. The office manager claims that it took over 3 weeks to open a new estate account for the firm. They held the buyer's deposit check for that long. Thought I would lose the sale. I thought the nightmare was over but the incompetent staff did more. The estate check, issued at closing BOUNCED. The law firms own check bounced. I was charged a fee from my bank. Now I'll have to chase them for a replacement check. The fees are cheap and the quality of work is worthless. There were problems at every step. It is unfortunate we did not see these reviews BEFORE hiring this law firm because if we had, we would have NOT hired this law firm. We purchased and sold many properties over the years and this is the first time we have ever experienced such bad legal representation to the point that I am forced to file a Disciplinary Complaint against the attorney Brian Murphy with the Attorney Grievance Committee for the First Judicial Department for the following ethical violations. Rule 1.4 (Communication): 1. Prompt Communication: A lawyer must promptly inform the client of any decisions or circumstances that require the client's informed consent. A. Brian Murphy FAILED to inform us or obtain our prior approval in taking $40,000 from the IOLA account held in our benefit B. Brian Murphy FAILED to prepare and send us a CLOSING STATEMENT prior to the closing for our approval and signature. And only sent the closing statement days after the closing. 2. Reasonable Updates: The lawyer must keep the client reasonably informed about the status of the matter. A. Brian Murphy FAILED to return phone calls and email messages sent directly to him requesting he contact us. NOT once have we been able to speak with Brian Murphy on the phone about our legal rights under the sales contract since we hired him. 3. Responding to Client Requests: Lawyers are required to respond to client inquiries and requests for information in a reasonable time frame. A. Brian Murphy intentionally FAILED to return our numerous phone calls and emails to him to inform us of our legal rights and discuss the terms of the sales contract. B. Brian Murphy FAILED to communicate with us during our closing completed in our absence. Brian Murphy sent us 1 email that stated "The closing Statement will be sent to you Monday". He then intentionally ignored all our emails to him during the closing requesting information about the closing. Never once did he call us or answer our email requests. C. Because of Brian Murphy's intentional failure to respond to our requests, we were forced to contact the buyer's attorney to request a copy of all the closing documents and checks which the buyer's attorney sent us within 1 hour of our request while we have unsuccessfully tried to get these documents and checks from Brian Murphy for the last 3 business days and only on the 3rd business day did Brian Murphy send us a copy of only 2 checks. 4. Explain Matters Clearly: A lawyer must explain matters to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions about their representation. A. Brian Murphy never contacted us directly as we requested to discuss with us our legal rights under the sales contract. CONCLUSION Brian Murphy provided us with inadequate legal representation and the above facts proves that he lacks integrity and ethical responsibility because his bad faith behavior is in clear violation of New York Rules of Professional Conduct specifically Rule 1.4. I should have trust the reviews here before I hired them. They never follow up with the clients, and expect the clients to proof read themselves. There was a mistake for the amount of purchase, they never proof read it and just send the copy to me and expect me to sign right away. I told them that there's is a mistake, and the respond from them was "just for you to make sure that the seller have the rights to contact other potential buyers if the contract is not signed." HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SIGN ANYTHING IF IT'S INCORRECT, ESPECIALLY THE AMOUNT?? They have my $5k retainer, but refused to give me case citations, and had NOTHING in writing to give me.Then Senior Litigator Christopher Fromm agreed to provide the citations / cases, but said I used up all the money. B. When I asked for the case law, they rudely wrote me: "There will be no draft of anything because you are not understanding plain emails." (see attached photo) This assumes I can't learn. C. They also wrote me in all Caps and with periods between each word, and refused to apologize for that rudeness (which is shouting). Without asking me for the evidence, they said: "The evidence you have presented to support your case is speculative, hearsay, and goes against what is known as the "dead man statute" from my previous email. Was it not clear? " They later conceded that DNA evidence on the threatening notes and a bribe may be sufficient. D. It did not have to be so rude and confrontational. Not so much the receptionist who was barely polite the 1 time I called and got her; the second time I got voice mail and I followed up with an email - did not get a return call or the documents I needed to move forward. The attorney sent him the same day I asked him for them. Another nice touch is that Mr. Levin himself wrote me saying I can contact him if issues arise. Great experience on my end. Just a little out of the way but their price is worth it for my quit claim on my property. Alla helped me in my transaction and was very responsive to my questions. After I provide the payment and agree to the term, I forgot about my problem. After a few week, they asked me to come in and sign my paperwork. They are very accommodating to my schedule. The meeting is very on time and quick. I would use them again for my future purchases. The place is a bit hard to get to. You can take a Q or B train or driving. There's plenty of street parking. When you are facing the Postal office, head right of it at the corner of the block and make left within the same street. The place is up the second floor behind USPS. read more

Every step of the way, I had to ask, remind, and finally beg them to take a look at my file and solve their next problem. I hired them for my first home purchase. Honestly, it was a waste of money and time. NOT WORTH IT. They are in business because of good online marketing/ads and low fees but it bites you more in the long run than you save on legal fees. I learned I could have saved thousands on my deal if I had a lawyer with a killer instinct than these "lawyers". Lesson learned. Spend extra and get lawyers who will actually look for your interest - not mere paper pushers. It routinely took me multiple days - emails and multiple voice messages just to get a response back, and then I had to remind the lawyer about the specifics of the contract. They changed my lawyer because the first one went on vacation - which delayed things. I had to proof-read every change they made in the contract and twice I had to go back to them to fix things - either names or typos. They messed up twice, first by not ordering the municipals and second by messing up the contract which required all parties to sign an amendment on - all which delayed the closing by weeks. By the end of the deal, I felt I could become a real estate lawyer based on the amount of baby sitting and proof reading I had to do. read more

I wanted to amend a current POA from another state but firm did a full POA and charged me $400 but then after billing my credit card I was told needed to have 2 witnesses and that was another $250 I told him hem I was quoted the $400 not told about the witness fee so I asked for my credit card to be refunded and after a month it still has not and I also found out a person does not need an attorney to do a POA in New York state just the 2 witnesses which they also failed to inform me about so this is why I am leaving this review on here and other review sites read more

Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful!! I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. My family and I contracted them to put together my parents' estate plan. This process started in November and was finalized in May!! Yes, it took 6 months!! Below is a list of examples of the horrible service: Joseph McCarthy was responsible for coordinating the deed transfer. When I received the deed transfer package, the Recording Data Page contained a notable and obvious error; the First Party Name was totally incorrect. I asked Joseph to correct it and he replied that I should contact the County Clerk myself (no, I'm not making this up, this is all documented in emails). Of course, I pushed back and asked him to fix this issue. Not only was his response unprofessional, but I would have expected him to review and catch this apparent error before sending it to the client. The exchange above occurred 2/3/22. For about 6 weeks I did not hear anything from Kate Ulitskaya (lawyer managing the process) nor Joseph; complete radio silent. On 3/15/22 I received an email from Kate asking me for the final payment. I had to remind her that there was a pending issue with respect to the Recording Data Page. She followed up with Joseph and he stated that he had tried, but the county was being irresponsive (don't believe it, but let's assume this is true). I followed up with Joseph again in late March and he completely ignored my voicemails. So, I decided to contact the manager/owner. However, the receptionist was hesitant to provide any manager/owner information and transferred me directly to Joseph. Joseph picked up the phone and immediately said "why are you giving my receptionist a hard time?"; he did not even greet me. I stated that I'm not trying to give anyone a hard time, I just want to talk to the manager/owner of the firm. He subsequently responded: "that's not going to solve the problem.......". Again, he was very disrespectful and unprofessional. Immediately after such call, I emailed the owner of the firm. He did not reply, but I presume he must've spoken with Joseph and the Deed Transfer issue was resolved within a week. After I sent the email to the owner, I expected Kate would've been more attentive and professional. At a minimum, I believed the service wouldn't have gotten any worse. But I was wrong!!!! Originally, the final paper signing was scheduled for Friday, 4/15 at 11:00 AM. The morning of, I receive an email from Kate stating that I need a witness. I was not informed of this requirement and of course, I was not able to get a witness in such a short notice - my family and friends work and would need advance notice to plan accordingly. As a result of this lack of communication, we rescheduled for 5/6/22 at 12:00 PM. Note that my brother had to take off from work for this original 4/15 appointment and was not compensated for doing so. I also had to rearrange meetings to accommodate this time. As we (Grantors, Trustees and Witness) are heading to the location earlier in the morning of 5/6/22, I receive an email from Kate (at 11:25 AM) telling me that she was going to be late, at 12:15 instead of 12:00. We arrive at the building at 11:40 AM and the receptionist had no idea who Levin Law was nor Kate; I emailed Kate and she did not follow up with a response. To make a long story short, she showed up 50+ minutes late; yes, 50+ minutes late. This lateness and lack of respect caused the Witness to be late getting back to work and I also had to cancel a 1:00 meeting. I can continue with more examples, but the above shows how terrible this firm is. Please don't hire them. They were very courteous and professional during the first consultation; after that, totally opposite. Furthermore, the owner only talked to me during the first consultation; but subsequently di not did not reply to any of my emails and/or calls. read more

The keys ,inspection and release of escrow funds papers were signed and sent to Levin Law on 12/19/17 All we get is one promise after another... It is now 1/17/18 and we are still begging for our $7500 which they never returned to us , to date... We really need that money desperately and they just don't seem to care about their client at all. They need to be reported for misleading and fraud. My case took over two years. You can't never reach them; always have an excuse; Once their building was on fire ( true story). First they handle for me to be an administrator to my mother's affairs knowingly their was a property in question that I would like to keep. What they file was a quitclaim deed; after I spoke to the bank and notify them that's not what is needed, they wrote me back "Hi Fabiola, you hired us to do a quit claim deed.
