Disgruntled Parents! A very small group of parents at Lexington Children's Center that could not abide by any rules and regulations. Parents that were disrespectful to teachers, administrators and office workers. Parents that were always late, wouldn't pay their tuition on time and spend their time gossiping to other parents. Parents that had children that wouldn't behave in school and parents that didn't support their teachers.A true mystery, parents that complained about everything but stayed at the school for three or more years. They will see the reality of life when they enter public school and have to abide by rules and regulations and so will their children . No one will be able to help them. They may all end up in special schools and some much needed therapy! read more

My daughter attended Lexington Children's Center from the age of 2 to 4. On the contrary to these previous negative reviews my daughter and I had a wonderful, memorable, and pleasant experience at Lexington Children's Center. This center has a truly genuine, caring staff. Leaving my child at the school from the age of 2 was one of the toughest things I ever had to do, but the friendly staff always reassured me my child was safe and they would take good care of her. It's a wonderful feeling to know your child is truly cared for once you depart. I knew my daughter was in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment and that is WHAT MATTERS MOST. When my child was in the 4s classroom we moved to Westchester and I still took my daughter there because this is where she was happy. I was also extremely impressed with the all the learning that took place; she learned how to add, subtract and was able to read a few sight words. I was so sad to leave this amazing place when my daughter graduated. It's unfortunate that some parents gave this center negative reviews. I just DO NOT understand if some parents were so unhappy and not satisfied with this center why did they continue to bring their children for 3 years----Now does that make any sense?!?!?!?! I highly recommend this center to anyone. My friend has a son that graduated this June and she has no complaints about the program. She appreciated everything that was done for her son. read more

My son and daughter attended Lexington Children Center and I was very please and comfortable leaving them there. My children were lucky to be able to take their children as well, teachers were always professional. It makes me sad to read such negative things about the center, because I personally feel that if things were so bad like you all say, why didn't you take your child some where else. instead your children were there for three years. All of you should be ashamed of yourselves, and by the way I attended the graduation and the teacher did a great job. read more

My son has been attending Lexington Children's Center since he was in the 2's class. They have a 2's, a 3's and a 4's classroom. For the school year 2012-2013, they were able to get funding for the UPK (Universal Pre-Kindergarten) program. My son is among the first in the program, but unfortunately, because we are a private paying family we did not qualify for the 2.5 hours that the UPK is offered free. Those deductions only apply to those who qualify for the UPK program. Not sure how it works. Best to call the DOE that handles the CBO (Community Based Organizations) programs. We started in August of 2011 and by September they moved him into the 3's. I felt they should have put him in the 3's to begin with, since my son was turning 3 in September, then he would not have to go through the ordeal of transitioning . Each classroom has a lead teacher, an assistant teacher and an aide. As for the lead teachers; Ms. Jennifer in the 2's is amazing. She works very well with her age group. She's pleasant and very friendly. You can tell she loves the kids. Mr. Jon in the 3's is very quiet, sensitive and soft spoken. He allows the children to watch Nick Jr. shows on the computer. He does a lot of dancing with today's latest pop music. He is a good teacher, but at times could be more tentative and observant. Ms. Brenda in the 4's is very sweet and also soft spoken. She's also very friendly and very accommodating. Without naming names, I have witnessed a few incidents where teachers were unaware that a child was in the bathroom alone (a girl) and another child (a boy) entered the bathroom while she was sitting on the potty. This is a no-no! I have also witnessed the morning teachers (usually just one teacher in the morning by rotation) asks one of the children to run to the kitchen to ask the kitchen aide for extra milk or food. Some would allow a child to exit the classroom by him/herself to grab something from their cubby. Both incidents the teacher was not standing by the door watching the child, but the door was closed. These are 3-4yos. Personally, I do not think this is safe. Since my son has been there, there's been quite a change of staff, both office and teachers. I have witnessed non-employees monitoring the front door through the surveillance camera in the main office and buzzing people in. There have also been 4 burglaries within a 6 month period, which were rumored to be an inside job. No one was harmed, but cash and electronics were removed during the weekend days. I and a few parents did not hear this news from the Director, but from other parents who witnessed police officers onsite during the early hours of the school day. When we first started attending the center, the method of payment was cash. After the burglaries occurred and before notifying the parents of these incidents, the center demanded a change in their method of payment to money orders only. Of course, not knowing about the burglaries, we were confused. When this was addressed with the Director, her response was that it was dangerous for her staff to be carrying cash to the bank and during her 9 years as the Director at the center, she has never asked the parents for anything. It made me question, why she never considered this fact before the burglaries happened. The center lacked a great deal of quality communication (important things we need to know as parents of our 2-4yos day care center). In November 2012, the children were to start brushing their teeth, a rule set by the DOH. They did not start the brushing until January 2013. In May, I asked my son if he was brushing his teeth in school and he said, no. He still says no. When I asked a teacher about it, it was lightly mentioned that it was hard to manage with so many children. Since my son has been attending the other classrooms (2's and 3's) before he reached the 4's class (UPK), I have noticed and asked other parents if their 4 year old were allowed to stay until August before they start kindergarten. For those who chose to, they were allowed to stay the rest of the summer. This year, being their first UPK program, I did not realize and this was not communicated to us from the beginning that the UPK program is only from Sept-June. At the end of April, we received a notice that the last day of school for the UPK students is June 28th and the UPK children are not to return after that. We started looking for summer programs and camps and realized that most of them require or recommend that you start registering in January. All the camps we were able to afford were full or registration was closed. Those that had openings were charging $300+ a week! There are 10 students graduating from the UPK program and still today (June-2 weeks from their last day) some parents are scrambling to find a place for their children to spend the summer. We are all working parents and need this help. That was my stressful experience with this center. read more

Not happy! my son attended Lexington Children Center since he was 2 years old. WE have always supported the school in everything they had orginze ( cake sales ect.) but we have not seen any improvements to the school nor the small play area. The office staff is rude and always miscomunicate issues that need to be prioritize. I felt parents where targeted. This only brings hurt and confusion to our kids. We where told 2 months and half prior to June 28 2013. That all kids participating in the UPK program had to leave the school. Leaving the parents scrambling to find a summer program. Now we all know we have to look into summer programs beginning of the school year...to make sure we can sucure a spot for our child. It's been difficult and hurtful trying to find a place to have our son go during the summer. they have not help at all. Several robberies occur at this school and the parents where not notified at all. I found out thru word of mouth. This is disturbing and it worries me about the safety of the children. My child was bully by another child and it was never follow up. and nothing was resolve. While their guidelines and contract says one thing ..they do the complete opposite. I would not recommend this school to anyone. read more
