We have been at Sunshine Lexington for a year and a half so far. My daughter started at 5.5 months old, so we began in the youngest babies classroom. We absolutely love it there, and so does our daughter. The teachers are wonderful, evidenced by the almost zero turnover I've seen since we started. The Tadpoles app is a great way to communicate, and you know what they're eating/drinking, when they have diaper changes or use the toilet, when they nap and for how long, and receive photos and videos throughout the day. In addition to the daily Tadpoles updates, there is also the opportunity to sign up for phone calls with the teachers, email teachers directly, and there is a monthly meeting over zoom (recorded and sent with presentation deck after as well) to keep you updated on everything happening. They also make it easy to connect with fellow parents by sharing parent contact info, having designated WhatsApp threads for each classroom, and hosting social events (including adults-only events). I have also been impressed with the curriculum and amazing programs. This year, my daughter had music class, Spanish class, soccer lessons, and yoga lessons! She absolutely loves doing her yoga moves at home and telling me the Spanish words she knows! What I find most helpful though is the guidance and support on when and how to hit certain milestones, including support on starting solid foods, when to switch from bottle to sippy cup, when to switch from sippy cup to open cup, etc. Right now, my daughter is in the beginning stages of potty training, and her excitement for the process started because of the encouragement happening at school. We have been part of Sunshine for almost 4 years - and I must say our 5 year old has grown into a confident young boy. He was introduced to a wide variety of subjects like - art, music, soccer, chess, crafts, phonetics, reading, writing, technology, yoga, exercise, dance, social study... They have an excellent schedule for summer and equally engaging curriculum for winters. My son comes back home talking about concepts he has learnt in school and looks happy on most days. He has always been ahead of the curve in doing things by himself, reading, writing... He also got through the G&T exams based on what he learnt at Sunshine. The principal, teachers and staff are professional, kind and really hard working - they teach kids to be independent, self reliant and confident. The center itself is very clean, hygienic and feels brand new (for the last 4 years). My only complaint was quick transitions from one class to another which brought in instability when my son was young. But it settled down when he turned 3. There was a high turnover rate in the initial few months but we have been seeing same teachers for the last 2 years and that makes us and our son very happy. Sunshine Learning Center goes above and beyond for their families and children. My daughter attended the Lexington Ave location when she was 4 months old as I was returning back to work. I had an interesting situation because my daughter had to wear a body harness due to mild hip dysplasia. I was extremely nervous sending her anywhere because it was a complicated harness to deal with. However, the staff at Sunshine went above and beyond in supporting myself and my daughter. They learned how to use the harness, implemented exercises with her, and made me very comfortable. I would recommend Sunshine Learning Center to my family and friends. It's an incredible environment, clean, friendly and welcoming. These are important things for everyone, especially new moms. read more

Most Unprofessional Place! I was put on the waitlist without any information that they were going to increase the tuition by almost 22%. That's a huge amount. I went on my vacation, assuming my daughter is gonna join after we are back from my home country until I got the paperwork to do. Then when I call and ask them, she is like "oh I forgot to mention". Seriously, it's not $50-$100 dollars a month they were increasing, it's an increase of $500/ month and you FORGOT to mention. Then when I called to request to consider me at the previous price as I wasn't informed, she plainly denied. Nor was I offered a refund of the waitlist fee. How unprofessional! Basically, I wasted $150 on the waitlist fee and my precious time trusting these people. I am left in a situation where places are full as it is middle of enrollment time, I was out of the country so I couldn't actively search anything, and now my child is without a daycare as we are struggling to find one. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. read more

Our son has spent one year in this daycare from 1.5 to 2.5 years old. We were very happy to see him progressing and blossoming in this great environment. The team is outstanding. The teachers are very professional, dedicated to the kids and attentive to the parent's expectations. The children have the opportunity to do a lot of various activities : soccer, music, languages, outings and all these activities are including in the tuitions. Also, the daycare organizes free workshops for parents. The facilities are light, clean and well-maintained. We will miss this great daycare! read more

Sunshine Lexington is the best daycare on the UES. My son attended Sunshine from when he was 1.5 years old up until 2019 when he turned 5 and graduated. The teachers were smart, loving and kind. The administration was caring, competent and professional throughout his whole time at Sunshine. The teachers and administration communicated daily with me about my sons academic, social and emotional progress. Sunshine felt less like a daycare and more like a family. In addition, Sunshine's tuition is extremely reasonable compared to all of the other UES daycare's that charge exorbitant prices. The level of education, support and love that your child will receive from Sunshine is well worth the money. I would highly recommend Sunshine to any parent. read more

I am disappointed with Sunshine at Lexington Daycare. The teachers would let my son cry and cry and did little to nothing to console him. The Tadpole app was unreliable because the teachers typed in inaccurate information (amount of food consumed, late pm snack but he already left for the day so how could you have offered him snack?, I received pictures stating that those were pictures of my son. It was the back of the head of another boy in his class. I requested numerous times both verbally and via drop off notes in the Tadpole app to indicate amount of food & milk consumed vs what's was being served for breakfast/ lunch. I don't understand why the teachers would only list the breakfast and lunch items but not amount consumed. I pack my son's lunch everyday and I'm aware of what he will be eating. What's important to me is how much he ate. Despite numerous requests, the daily report would often list only items from breakfast & lunch. I was informed that he was being served milk at lunchtime yet the Tadpole app indicates water was provided. Do I go by the app or should I trust what you are telling me? The daycare has a skeleton crew & it's under staffed. During am drop off, if it's before 8:45am there is an adult in the room but not necessarily the assigned teacher to the class. This is also the case during 5pm pickup. In addition there is a high turnover rate. All the teachers in my son's class left in less than a year. Please be aware that if you decide to no longer attend the day care you must informed them before the 25th of each month & then your security deposit goes towards your last month's tuition. That's correct you never get your deposit back. There were some positive aspects: Mr. Bentley(Art Teacher), Ms.Flora (Spanish Teacher) were both caring, attentive and engaging towards all the students. Unfortunately they are only there a few times a week. As a parent you need compassionate, friendly and diligent teachers from drop off to pick up but you won't find that at Sunshine Daycare at Lexington. read more

I had a really, really hard time finding a daycare for my baby when it was time to go back to work. But when I toured Sunshine's UES location, I immediately knew it was the place for my daughter. I cannot speak highly enough of the teachers in the infant program specifically. They have encouraged my daughter's development, been patient with her and loved her so much. And they're like this with every baby in that classroom. Be patient through the transitioning time. I was nervous my baby would never totally feel at home there, but after a solid week, she LOVED it. And I appreciate that this place has no violations with the city (which I learned in my research it VERY rare). I'm so thankful to have Sunshine for our child. read more

Sunshine at Lexington & 101 is the best daycare in the area. Their facilities look and feel brand-new, there is plenty of natural light, and the center is designed to feel like a small school to help students transition from the center to a school building. I spent a day shadowing my son's class and I saw the teachers speaking lovingly and intentionally to the students. When one student started to get wound up, the teacher stopped the distraction quickly and explained to the student that his action concerned her not only for the other children's safety but also for that child's safety (a very child centered classroom). The curriculum is appropriately rigorous and allows ample play time for each developmental stage. The director of the school has her PhD in Early Childhood Edu/Dev, is very personable, and hands on - she is often found in the classroom interacting with the students (when us parents aren't tying her up lol). The icing on the cake, our son came to Sunshine after being at two other daycare centers - at both the previous centers he was content. He would go in and come back - no real highs or lows. After his first day at Sunshine, however, we were leaving and he asked, "Mommy, can I stay longer to play with my new friends?" On his second day, when he caught sight of the center on our walk there, he said, "There's my school! It's my favorite!" To this day, his excitement for school stays high. Our whole family loves the experience we've received here and will keep our (now) two children in this center until Kindergarten. Trusting someone with your child can be a tough decision (it was for us, which is why this was our third and last center to enroll our son in) but I hope this review helps you see you can trust this center - making your decision a little easier. They also use an app called Tadpoles that sends you photos of your child throughout the day, which is just heart warming. Such a phenomenal center! Hope to see you around the center soon. read more
