When I found out I was pregnant it was the perfect opportunity for maternity photos. It's a tricky thing when you're hiring a photographer because you never know if they are going to capture that feeling/ ambiance you are looking for. More importantly you never know if you'll work well together. If you don't feel comfortable with the photographer or if they don't give you enough direction, the pictures won't turn out. Being a sometime photographer myself, I am pretty picky when it comes to photos. Carl was thorough in giving tips for before the shoot like what to wear, making a Pinterest board, etc. He was very relaxed when we met which made it easy to spend the next 1.5 hrs together. What I appreciated the most is that he took the time to make sure the pose and lighting was just right. He also paid attention to details like my hair or if something was on my dress or patting down weeds. Most importantly, he has the eye for creative shots. He nailed the vibe I was going for. Her emails prior to the shoot were organized and informative. She was very organized and efficient in the way she ran the shoot. The clincher: I am 4 months postpartum, I am by no means a model, and my confidence was low prior to this shoot. She delivered the photos before I could even sweat what they looked like, and oh my goodness they are beautiful!!! I remember looking at her work and thinking, wow this is great, but I won't look like that... Surprise!!! She managed to capture my fussy 4 month old baby gorgeously and made me feel confident again. She was so patient as he cried and even helped with soothing him and finding a blanket that would work with my look. And that certainly showed in our photos! The day of our wedding she was on top of everything. It took a lot of the stress off us, wrangling family members in for photos and such. She also helped us fill out our marriage license - who knew it would be so confusing with a few drinks on board. She put a friendly reminder in my ear to pay vendors at the end of the evening too. She was above and beyond helpful at our final meeting in finalizing our timeline and offering a few tips to make the day go smoothly. Our wedding was on a family farm on Whidbey Island and Jenny and her second photographer graciously caught an early ferry to make sure they would be there on time. She was able to scope out the ceremony space before starting to shoot our getting ready photos and the day just went so well from there.
