They were supposed to trim a laurel hedge, but decided to only trim it as far up as they could reach without bothering to do the upper couple of feet. It is a horrible mess. They were supposed to re-gravel the driveway, but, brought such a fine-grade gravel that it was more dust than stones. I spoke about that and Sam Hill, the owner, said "It'll be fine once it rains." NO it's not. Most of the "gravel" blew away. It's a lumpy mess. I had also specified that I wanted the gravel to go all the way out to the edges of the current drive. I even said "I want it wide." Wasn't done. I complained and Sam said, "It looks like a nice, strip up the middle." He said if I wanted it out to the edges, he could write up another bid!!!! I had gone out the day before and weeded and made the edges of the drive very clear. These lazy people didn't even bother to move a trash can that was at the side: they just left it un-graveled. They didn't spread gravel over the entire area that is the turn-around either. You can see where they just put their gravel around in patches when they thought they could get away with leaving the old gravel. They cut a 50-year old lilac down to the ground for no reason at all. Apparently, Sam's parents own a nursery, so he "made it right" by putting 2 inch tall cuttings in its place. I objected because lilacs are very slow growing. Sam said "Oh, no...they grow really fast." NOT TRUE. I then went to a nursery and picked out a 4 foot tall lilac that would still not make up for the towering one that had been destroyed, but would be better than cuttings. Sam said he'd go get it. Well, he must have gone back to mom and dad again. They planted a one foot tall weakling that is now dead. I wanted them to plant something to mask my neighbors fence from view. I said something flowering, like a dogwood or cherry. I expected someone who calls himself a landscaper to know plants; to know what would grow in the space indicated. I babied that tree for months, but...it's now dead, too. So, thousands of dollars went for damage and ignorance and laziness and refusal to repair what they ruined. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

So I decided to use Mint again for landscaping work where I had to install brick and shrubs on my…read morefront porch. When they started the project the day of Halloween, the landscapers showed up very early. It only took a few minutes for them to remove the dead shrubs. At first the front porch looked pretty bad because of the bare porch. The next day, landscapers returned to apply more sod and start the brick work. When they laid the brick, my porch started to look more even. The shrubs like blue fescue, lavender, fountain grass and azalea were installed. Once that was done, mulch was applied to the porch and side yard. Everything was basically complete except for a couple boulders to be installed. Unfortunately it did take a couple weeks for it to arrive. I emailed Josh(owner of Mint Landscapes) checking on the status, and the boulder was installed the very next day. Now my front porch looks AMAZING!! My neighbors always compliment me about my porch. I'm extremely happy about the work they did. Although Mint is not the cheapest in the area, they do provide excellent work and are very courteous. I'd highly recommend them.

The bid was very reasonable - about an acre for 120 + grass removal. I accepted and he said he would be back Thursday or Friday the next week. Both days came and went then I got a message that he would be there Saturday... I was supposed to be off the 2 days he told me to expect him but was working on Saturday. When I came home the lawn still was not mowed. I then got a text and he said I hadn't accepted the invoice he had sent me via text. I told him I didn't know I needed to and asked about some extra charges on the invoice - as it turns out he accidentally added taxes for a few different locales on my bill. The bill was corrected and I accepted the invoice. He (or an employee) showed up to mow - almost 2 weeks after the initial bid and a week after the first scheduled time - but didn't bring their riding lawn mower and only finished about a third of the yard due to grass height. He notified me of the issue, told me he would be out the next day with his rider to finish. He did finish mowing the yard but since he was charging extra for grass removal he sent me a message saying he got all the grass up that his rider would pull up. I thought that was odd... I waited to pay until I saw the yard - and his assessment that he got everything up that could be was not true. There were sections of the lawn that looked almost raked and other sections that were thick with grass and without tire tracks through it. It obviously had NOT been driven over. I messaged him with pictures and said either to remove the grass removal fee or come back out and finish the job. He sent me a new invoice with a reduced amount and no further communication. I saw the other reviews, I understand the nature of the work and how things may need to be fluid as far as dates/times. I even would have been fine if he had simply said that he would come back out and finish picking up the grass... and I would have given him another shot. But collectively the missed dates for the bid, missed dates for the mowing, the first trip out being unprepared - despite having seen and bid the job, failing to finish picking up the grass and finally not coming out and finishing the grass removal - I just cannot do business with this kind of performance.. and I really wanted to. He did remove the grass removal fee, that was a positive...I regretfully cannot recommend this company and will be looking again.
