As a business owner of several entities, I need the right fit for an ongoing relationship. Someone that can meet with me monthly or at least quarterly and help in many facets. The you can meet with our assistant who knows nothing about taxes, payroll, bookkeeping or how to help sell you as the new CPA didn't work for me. I can't say I'm too impressed. I kept having to call to get updates on the progress of my…read morereturns. Then I got a call on Sunday, April 14 stating my returns were done and requesting payment for services. Obviously they were working at the last minute, which didn't make me feel very confident. It would have been more appropriate to give me a few days to look things over myself before submitting my returns. The only chance I had to do this was when I showed up the next day to sign my returns. With multiple state returns and real estate transactions, doing any review at that point was basically impossible. At that point I realized a mistake was made. I was due a refund for some withholding which they had not processed. I was told I hadn't submitted the withholding form to him to look at, but I know I did, and I know I talked to Ryan about this on our first meeting. Lastly, it would have been nice to have had the opportunity to direct deposit my refunds, which was not given me. Ultimately, I was left wondering why, after shelling out several hundred dollars for a professional return, I was the one who had to figure out the mistake. I will go back to doing my own returns from now on.

H&R Block is hit or miss generally; fortunately, this office is pretty on top of things. We were…read moreable to get an appointment for a Saturday with a less than one week wait, which is impressive considering Saturdays are one of their busiest days during tax season. The tax agent we worked with was very friendly and knowledgable, but we felt like we had to watch her closely as she entered the information into the system, because several times she misspelled words or entered incorrect numbers. That was a little taxing. (See what I did there?) In the end, though, we're confident she prepared the taxes correctly. This H&R Block is in a lively shopping center, which includes Qdoba, Mellow Mushroom, Play It Again Sports and Marsh. There's plenty of parking.

We depended on H&R Block, who advertise themselves as full-service small business tax advisers, to…read moretell us what to file and pay for our business taxes. They neglected to prepare and submit all the appropriate forms and payments our business should have submitted. We now have fines for $3,673 from the State. H&R Block refuses to take responsibility and reimburse, saying we should have known about that form they forgot. That's the whole point of going to H&R Block -- for them to tell us everything we need to do. They've left me holding the bag for thousands and thousands of dollars.
