Purchased a Cannondale mountain bike from here. 2 weeks later I crashed into a tree with major damage, when I brought it for repairs I was shocked at how minimal the cost was for the major repairs. I went in with my family to get my son's scooter fixed. It was missing a screw to keep the handlebars on. All it needed was a screw and they fixed it. Service is wonderful here and my kids will be very happy this Christmas. The owner knows his stuff and is willing to talk about your various options with the bicycles as long as it takes. I bought a Cannondale there. When I needed a warranty service, their mechanic, named John recuses to service the bike.

I've only been into biking for a few years now but this place has been my go to Everytime. The staff is always courteous and very knowledgeable. They don't push products on you and genuinely want to help. I've read in prior reviews and they said they didn't do repairs on the spot. That hasn't been my experience at all. Last year while on a ride from Northeast Philly to Cenrer City and busted my tire on a curb. I stopped here and was in and out within 10 minutes. Maybe they made an exception, but the customer service here is top notch and I'd recommend anyone within 30 miles of this place to come here for their biking needs. read more

Great experience buying a low end aluminum hybrid here. Excellent, chill, friendly customer service. Not pretentious at all. Best prices I found within an hour of Philly. After frustration at multiple other stores not having in stock the bike I was looking for, a stranger on the street who was riding one sent me here. Lo and behold, Liberty Bell's price was 10% lower than everyone else's. I came up from South Philly and it was worth it. My call was pleasantly answered by John, who assured me the bike was in stock in one size and he would build the other size for me to try in case I stopped in. True to his word it was built and ready when I arrived a few days later where I was received in a friendly, attentive manner. I happily bought! Liberty Bell Bikes recently moved down the street to a larger store with its own parking lot, which just makes this place even better. They've been in business for over 50 years, and they've got a great and reasonably-priced selection of new and used bikes, bike accessories, etc. They also do bike tune-ups and make repairs. They even will repair your bike the same day. If it's nothing super major, you can browse the shop and wait for your repair because they try to do all repairs quickly. The staff is also really, really nice and knowledgeable. Next time you're in the market for a bike, or if you're looking for bike parts/accessories or repairs, definitely head down to Frankford Ave. to check this place out. My pop bought a beautiful green Shwinn Searcher cruiser with the largest bike seat known to man from here years ago. In '07, I bought a bike form here, a sparkly blue Schwinn Sierra. Actually, my sister went in to buy one, and I decided that I needed one too as soon as I rode hers around. The guy who sold them to us really listened to what we were looking for in our bikes. The prices weren't jacked up at all and the sale was no pressure. My Schwinn served my needs perfectly, till it got stolen a few weeks ago. My pop only rode his bike once, home from the shop. Then he decided there are too many hill sin Winchester Park. My dad inherited it and used it a few times, but then a tire went flat and it was in need of some love. Last year for Father's Day I brought the bike back to Liberty Bell for a tune up. I picked it up the next day and it rode like brand new. My dad gave up riding due to having both his knees replaced, so back to the shed it went till it became my replacement bike. It's really fun to ride, but I still miss the ability to off-road every time I'm in a park. I can't recommend this place enough. They're really helpful and have served my grandfather, my father, and me and my sister very well. If you're in the market for a bike, check this place out. The guys who work here will even ride a novelty oversized bike for your enjoyment if you ask them nicely! read more

This is your ideal bikeshop: fully stocked and with mechanics who are knowledgable, empathetic and willing to go the extra mile. I am talking about John, Big John and Pat. I was struggling with something trivial as far as bike repairs go, but enormous to me because this was all that was standing in the way of my next ride... Which was causing me more and more frustration, because now my next ride will be tomorrow and not today as originally planned. Yet they stayed with me all the way. I went there today wanted to purchase a yearly tune up for my bike. Their website said repairs are done on the spot. The employee i spoke with said i have to leave my bike for a few days because they will not prioritize my bicycle. I left and went to another shop and have my bike fixed in 5 minutes, on the spot. (Its a basic repair, only needs adjustment on the break (the disc rotor is rubbing on the break pads.) I would have waited for a few hours. not days. I gave them 3 stars because of the price ($50 for 1 year tune up is a good price) and the Employee is courteous. Sadly, they dont do the repairs on the spot. read more

I don't live too close to Liberty Bell, but the bike shops near me (in Cheltenham) weren't giving me the greatest help, and ever since I found Liberty Bell about 6 years ago, the thought hasn't even crossed my mind to stop making the 25 minute drive. They are all incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and their stock is great, but most importantly they will never try to sell you something you don't need. It's easy for a bike shop to make a maintenance ignorant person spend a fortune, but Liberty Bell is is not only reliable but has encouraged and helped me to learn more about maintenance. I've bought three bikes from them now. My brother and I got low priced hybrids for cruising the neighborhood when we were younger which still hold up excellently (especially thanks to tune ups from these guys). Recently I sold my hybrid and got a Cannondale Synapse from them (which was cheaper than it would've been anywhere else local, or even online) for more serious touring and couldn't be more thrilled with their advice in picking it and their assistance maintaining it. I just got back from a long bike tour with my Synapse on the West Coast and, let me tell you, most bike shops aren't even a third as friendly, inexpensive, or helpful as Liberty Bell. I've seen places cheat me to pathetic levels, even now that I know quite a bit about bikes. If every bike shop were Liberty Bell, touring would be a lot easier read more

Took my road bike in a few weeks back for a repair. I've been getting really into road biking as a hobby, but know little to nothing about maintenance/repair. They guys were not condescending in any way (which I've experienced before) and did a great job on the repair. It rides like new. I have taken my kids bikes here several times for odds and ends but the last time was probably the most remarkable. My sons tube popped (is this correct bike lingo?) and he needed a new one. The gentleman there told my husband he also needed his brakes fixed and he would tune it up. It's a bike from toys r us so I honestly didn't think it would need all of that, but ok, it's for my kid, I'm in. Four days later my son is back to riding his bike to school and told me "he gave me the kindest tune up mom. Give him a hug the next time you see him, seriously. This is like better than when the bike was new." So I just want to say thank you and also give this great review for the guy who got me out of a new bike for Christmas with an excellent tune up, break job and tire repair. I have to tell you about my new good friends at Liberty Bell bicycle shop.Late last minute stuff before going on vacation,my 12yr.old daughter's front tire on her bike was flat.I made just 1 call and that was liberty bell,asked if they had a specific size inner tube and indeed they had I asked price they said $10 I said pull that tube and I'll be there in 20min. I went in to purchase the tube they handed me the tube and said they wanted to see the old tube and how it got flat who would have thought. So I went out to the truck and brought in the rim the tire was off all together an inter tube. The young man there explained it could have been a spoke that popped it after inspecting the flight tube, at that point the young man types of rim ran electrical tape around the entire rim a couple times to help prevent spoke from popping through to flattening the new inner tube . I asked if he could put all of it back together as one and I would be happy to pay him for it, and he went on to do exactly that and handed me everything completely finished and at that point I asked how much he said just $10 for the inner tube will be all. I could not believe my eyes and ears so that is why this review is being posted so everyone can know if you have a problem with a bicycle there's only one place to go for politeness, professionalism, and just being plum kind never hurt nothing is what you get there for service.thank's fellows my daughter is riding her bike on the boardwalk rite now as I'm posting this. read more

I went to the south philly location for a tune up and to get new tape on my handlebars. Dropped off my bike monday and the guy said they would call me when it was done. I waited around, and waited some more until 6 days later, I thought it was pretty absurd how long it was taking. So I called them and they said it was ready. I went in to grab my bike and there was this kid eating pizza who couldn't answer any of my questions. Basically just saying nope a bunch with a mouthful of pizza. Seriously terrible customer service. My bike rides like a dream, but it's not worth waiting 6 days, just to have some kid be an ass to your face. read more

So I very recently learned how to ride a bicycle and really enjoy it, so I began searching for a quality bike that wouldn't break the bank. I shopped around at a few bike shops in person and over the phone for a little less than a week. Liberty Bell Bicycle was the first shop I visited and I ended up returning. I was a little intimidated when I first walked in, but I was greeted and helped immediately. The older man (I forgot his name) was very patient in answering my questions and accommodating in allowing me to test drive the bike. He remained pleasant when I told them I wasn't buying that day because I wanted to shop around. One of the younger men at the shop helped me get set up outside with my test drive (I was having a bit of trouble) and was so patient and kind. I shopped around and came back to them because they had been so patient with me, everyone was very knowledgeable, they had the best price and their warranty for new bikes is unbeatable. I ended up with a Cannondale Adventure 3 and true to their word, I worked out the kinks and I'm enjoying the bike so much. If I'm ever in the market for another bike, I'm definitely going back. read more

They had a few models but suggested I go to the Frankford store where I could try more bikes. The owner was great and helped me to find the perfect bike in my price range.
