Bought a Vintage Austro Daimler bike from Mike and was glad to use his free tune-up services that came with the purchase. Had to move to NY, but consigned it to him again. A few weeks after it was sold, he wasn't comfortable with an electronic transfer but drove 2 hours and spent his gas to give me the portion of my money! Don't hesitate giving him your business. His service is impeccable!

This man stopped what he was doing to help Philly Bike life riders keep moving when they caught flats. Friendly fast and convenient. Couldn't give a higher recommendation.

Put my bike together after I had it sent from California. Cheap and easy. Works great.

I rented to bikes from Jeff last weekend and I did so for two reasons…read more A) closest bike shop to downtown that I could find on yelp B) lowest 24 hour rental rate, just under $1.00/hour We spent $54.00 for two bikes for 24 hours with tax, the next closest shop wanted to charge almost $50 per bike for 24 hours, so this was the clear choice. He gave us two cruisers that had the nice padded butt seats, which were great for long term riding. Yes this place is kind hard to find because it is hidden under a large building and in the basement and yes the owner is a bit quirky and opinionated, however he came across like an average Philly guy to me. He loses one star for the pain in the ass it is to get the bikes out of his little door-way and up the narrow staircase to the street. The same one star lost is also for the low bridge in the store, I had to duck to make sure I did not hit my head. The other star is gone because I think he could do a bit better job of keeping his store clean and less cluttered. I do not know anything about his retail prices on bikes and hardware, nor do I know anything about the quality of the bikes he builds; this review is mainly on the owner and the rental experience. After all said and done, I enjoyed my experience in the store and Jeff was very nice to us and even gave us several suggestions of places to bike to and eat at. He did a great job adjusting our bikes to fit us without us asking, which I thought was nice. I would rent from him again!

I stopped by Frankenstein Bike Worx for the second time around 12:30-1pm today, and my experience…read morewas quite the opposite of the first, which was about 3 years ago with the previous owner. Today I came in with a simple inner tube issue and was met by a staff member who repeatedly insisted that what I had just experienced and witnessed firsthand had not happened. When I disagreed, he dictated that I stop talking and that I had to listen to him. Throughout the interaction, he claimed he was trying to help while heatedly dismissing my concerns and refuting my account then lying to my face about contradicting me. After it became clear that he was not capable of a productive conversation, I left the shop and carried my bike up the stairs to the street level. As I walked away down the block, the staff member followed me outside and shouted that I was "too sensitive." Being pursued with the intent of insulting me after I left was the unprofessional icing on the cake. Based on this experience, customer service here was dismissive, confrontational, and unwelcoming. I won't be back as long as the new customer service model is to gaslight, lie about it, then pursue a customer out to the street to insult them on top of it.
