Highly highly recommended. I took the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course with Howard…read more I could tell in the first few minutes of the class this guy knows his stuff and he's got a passion for teaching. He's not intimidating at all, nice guy actually. No question too basic. He just wants to share as much knowledge as possible and for you to enjoy firearms as he does. The class portion is at his house, and it's totally safe. He's got a nice classroom setup with a large screen TV for the powerpoint presentation and videos. After the class portion, we all drove to a nearby shooting range. What I liked: 1) Only two of us in the class (he doesn't take more than 4). 2) He had a bunch of real pistols in class. You get to handle them, load them, dry fire them, and even choose which one you'd like to try in the range. No live ammo in class. 3) The gun range part can get kinda scary. But he's right behind you when you shoot, encouraging you. 4) At the gun range, even after the official NRA course has ended, he had us doing a few more drills where he makes the paper target approach you and you gotta fire as many rounds as you comfortably can.

Now that I spent 60 hours in training there, I have NO issues withe the program or Mr. Bonnacci's training skills. He teaches with wisdom from decades. Old school, hell yes, and it was very, very necessary. He is outstanding, his company, very professional, his staff personable.

The security business is not what most people think. The images of a nondescript security guard…read moregiving directions at a mall, on patrol at an apartment complex, or checking bags at a concert are what most people imagine. But there's more to the job and the industry. A lot more. Security officers are professionals who serve a vital role and not one that is devoid of danger. A significant number are killed in the line of duty every year. Many because their training was inadequate or incomplete. It's a serious and hazardous business. A profession that can be unforgiving. So if you want to get into the business or keep your skills sharp, you need the best training available. The instructors at A Security Training Academy are the best in the Metropolitan DC area by far. They're tough and direct when it comes to learning your lessons, but that's what's needed if you're going to succeed and survive. They're in business to prepare you for some very serious work and how to get the job done correctly, professionally, and, of course, safely. The owner of A Security probably has more security-related qualifications than anyone in the region. And his team of instructors is every bit as dedicated to the students' success as he is. I've attended several classes at the school for various disciplines: Armed Security, Patrol Rifle, Tactical Handcuffing, Baton Usage, Pepper Spray Deployment, and Basic First Aid. At the end of every course, I knew I was not only more effective at doing my job, but I was also a more desirable employee at any security company I went to work for. Don't take chances with instructors or schools that are less experienced and knowledgeable. If you're entering a no-nonsense business like security or are continuing your education in the field, you need a no-nonsense approach to learning the trade. Your success, and your life, depend on it.

They have a lot of members from all walks of life, from hunters to law enforcement, casual target shooters to dedicated competitors. Despite recent pressures from Maryland legislation, Berwyn's membership remains strong and may even be growing larger as one of the few venues people can use for their hobby or career. The range itself is set in the woods of rural Bowie. Admittedly, it looks more like a Boy Scouts camp than a major high-tech range, but that's part of its charm. They have three "no sky" ranges, meaning there are baffles set to block any stray bullets that do not head down the range. A 50 foot, a 50 yard, and a 100 yard allow people to use whatever they need for their chosen firearms. As an outdoor range, you can expect to deal with weather and climate as well as insect life. I always check the forecast before deciding to head out there. As a private range, this is not accessible to the general public. To gain access you must send an e-mail asking about membership. Within a month, you will know if you are approved to join (I've never known anyone to be turned down). After that, you have access to the range, but must remember to follow all range rules, including proper safety, avoiding damage to the range, and cleaning up after yourself. If you're into firearms, for anything from hunting to marksmanship, and looking for a good range in the Prince George's and Arundel area, then I recommend looking into this place. Go to their website and check them out!
