I looked at Progressive first and found that for HALF the price, and with $750 deductables vs $2000 I could get better coverage. Seemed too good to be true. The process of switching over was easy. Then, just ten days later, my teenage son got into an accident and totalled his new car. Now came the rest of how this significantly less expensive coverage would work out. Every person we dealt with was patient, kind and a great communicator. They worked to make sure we had a fair settlement and we can start to work on getting a new car. I could not be more pleased with this outcome or this company and I recommend Progressive very highly.

The claims adjuster has been extremely slow and not helpful. If I didn't receive a phone call by 4pm when I was told I would hear back I would have to email and call. It took over a month to get anywhere - now I have been paid out my portion of the Total Loss Estimate toward my totaled vehicle we are going on 3 weeks of Progressive STILL not paying the bank the loan is from, I am now being forced to make monthly payments on 2 vehicles because they simply have not finished doing their job. Since paying out myself I've heard NOTHING. I have sent several emails, attempted to reach a supervisor and am going to have to resort back to calling and emailing the agent directly daily until it is resolved. Worst car insurance company I have EVER had the displeasure in dealing with. And again - I WAS NOT EVEN AT FAULT.

Then they sent someone to the wrong address and tried to jack our rates again (our home gained 1000 sq ft and a two car garage??? How does that not raise a red flag?) Never got a call. My wife had to call and deal with the assistant. [By the way, in 3 years we never got to speak with the actual agent, just the assistant] Rates continued to rise every year. Had leaks last winter from ice dams. The claim process was long and drawn out and by the time they sent someone out I'd had the roof shoveled and salted weeks before and stopped the leaking. They only paid for cleaning and repainting. I had water run down inside my walls, roof to basement, but since it had dried by the time they came out all they covered was cosmetic. No sheet rock replacement. So we weren't happy with Allstate already and then they jacked our rates again. My wife began looking for new companies online. Then I got a new job and had to return my work truck and buy myself a car. When my wife called to add the new car to our policy it was twice as much as the first car, same coverage. Nice multi vehicle discount! They couldn't tell my wife why it was so much either. My wife hung up with Allstate and called Amica. Switched everything over that night. When my wife called the local agent to cancel the policy the next morning she was told she needed some make believe form to cancel the policy and gave her the run around. That evening I called the national 800 number to cancel it and was offered all kinds of "savings" if I stayed. No thank you! Then the person said I needed to call my agent to cancel and I said "no, I don't like the agent, I want to take care of this now". I had to get transferred to another person who once again tried to get me to stay. After it was all done I asked her about the bullshit form the agent was looking for and got her to admit there was no form. Awful agent. Awful insurance company. Awful coverage. Ask around before you buy, everyone who has had Allstate will tell you they are the WORST.
