The park, which features a giant replica Statue of Liberty, shares the parking lot with the Alabama Boy Scouts of America. The parking lot is decent sized. When I got there the gate around the parking lot was closed no locked. I could still see the statue, but you can not really get a good frontal view. It is pretty much the statue, on a pedestal, in an open field. Even though it is pretty simple, I found it very impressive. The replica statue is A 1/5th scale of the one in New York and stands 36 feet. It original home was the Liberty National Life Insurance building in 1958. It was moved to its current location, Liberty Park in 1988. It is rumored to be one of the largest Liberty replicas in the world. Even though I was not able to get into the park, I still enjoyed seeing the statue up close and got a lot of good pictures. This is definitely not a big time consumer. I spent less than 15 minutes there, but it is still a must stop if you are in the area.

Odd and wonderful roadside statue. Liberty Park is very, very tiny...just large enough to hold the statue, a plaque, and some flags and lights so that Lady Liberty looks good at night as well as during the daytime. Worth a stop-off if you're in Birmingham just to see one of the oddities of the town. Not as big of an attraction as the strange Vulcan Statue nearby, but I think visiting the two on the same trip is a good idea.

I had never heard of this park/trail before and that shocks me considering how close it is to our house. This is parking across the street, but not a whole lot. Perhaps enough room for 6-8 cars. The entire trail follows a stream which adds in a picturesque scene as you cruise along. There is a historic market telling about the blast furnaces that used to be there. There were some people, but certainly not crowded. The trail was pretty smooth for the most part. Very few roots and other trip hazards. Really my only complaint is that its not long enough. And obviously some people ignore the dog waste bags provided for them at the beginning. But overall we loved finding this little gem and will definitely be going back!

This is a great neighborhood park with access to Shades Creek. There are a few benches, trash bins, doggie bags, educational signage, and parallel parking. The trail connects to the overall system of Mountain Brook Sidewalks and Trails and is part of the Red Rock Ridge & Valley Trail System. So if you're coming to run here be prepared to do some sidewalk running as well to get decent miles in. It's a nice change of scenery, but not really a destination park.

When we got it pulled up on the GPS, I was CONVINCED it was a mistake because we could not find it. We drove all around the block but could not see where it was, even though GPS said we were clearly there! We starting seeing a playground and open areas behind a bunch of houses, so we knew we were nearby. We drove around more and finalllllyyy found an entrance. It is hidden-- the entrance is on Kingsbury Ave. I've posted a picture so you'll know where to find it and what it looks like. There's also only street parking available. It was a Tuesday afternoon in May that we went, and it was so peaceful. The park is completely surrounded by houses (why it's so hard to find). There was only one other person there doing some running exercise. There's a playground, swings, track, picnic tables under some huge trees, and a good amount of open area. It was a hot day so we ate lunch under the trees, which kept us very cool. Then we played on the swings and playground as an attempt to relive our childhood memories! No bathroom or water fountain (maybe I missed that) that I saw. All in all-- a nice peaceful park. Maybe when school is out it might be busier, but I enjoyed myself!
