Warning: Fraudulent activity and unauthorized bank withdrawal by staff. In November 2023, I visited the Liberty Tax office in San Mateo to file my tax returns for the past two years. Since my only documents were bank statements, I trusted them and provided my online banking login credentials so they could access the statements.A few days later, an employee named Sajide Ali contacted me and stated they were working on my file. I wrote a check of $1,290 as their service fee. It is important to note that during this period, I was suffering from severe, debilitating health issues.Ultimately, they never filed my tax returns. When I later checked my bank account, I discovered that Sajide had used my login credentials to make an unauthorized Zelle transfer of $1,290 directly from my account to theirs.For a long time, I contacted them repeatedly demanding either my completed tax returns or a full refund. Every single time, they denied it and lied, claiming I never made such a payment. When I confronted the manager/owner (Tanka) over the phone, I was met with severe verbal abuse and insults.I have recently downloaded 7 years of historical bank transactions. I have recovered the absolute proof: both the original check I wrote and the unauthorized Zelle transaction Sajide made using my login info. I am attaching these documents to this review. They took advantage of a sick, vulnerable elderly customer who trusted them. This is a severe breach of trust, identity theft, and financial fraud. I made an appointment for 2023 tax year - I wasn't sure if I needed to amend previous years because of a large amount of backpay I received . When I arrived I was greeted and Sajida got right to the point - turns out I didn't need to complicate things further (what I tend to do lol) she was able to complete my taxes then and there - and my tax obligation was much lower than I expected! This office seems to run very well, they collaborate well and very efficiently. Most of all I was treated very kindly which I appreciated most of all. Who's not busy? Not me, because I am. Who wants to give up their valuable time to go through this dreadful process only to find out that their tax guy has been nothing but a psychic vampire that not only wants to suck up your time and energy, but also wants to try to get you to convert to his weird religion? And if you didn't acquiesce, he gouges you for his incompetence!!!!! (By the way, he was an H&R Block crony....... Ooops!) Not me !!!!! Never again H&R Block !!! Thanks to brave souls who would dress up in the Statue of Liberty costumes waiving their signs pointing to Liberty Tax locations, this catchy marketing helped me remember that I had another option. Of course not before cross referencing with what my fellow Yelpers have wrote about, it was all a go after that. So I looked up the closest one to Grandma's and found one in San Mateo. Upon approaching this establishment, it was a bit unassuming, but don't let this fool you. Mom and I walked in and we were pleasantly greeted by Tirtha. He offered us water, my mom asked for bottled water and bottled water he gave us. He was welcoming, personable, and forthright. He explained and walked me through their process. I filled out a basic information form, and within an hour, or more accurately a little over a half an hour without even knowing it, my taxes were completed. That was it. Voila!!!!! Tirtha asked questions; I gave him answers. I provided the appropriate paperwork; he did the work. I asked him questions; he gave me extensive knowledge. What can I say?
