He's a real jackass, abusive to customers, and doesn't deserve the business he inherited from Daddy. We will never go back in there after the way he treated my wife. Bottom line is he cheated us out of money. DISHONEST.

The bakery is housed on the right side of the barn and it has some of the best baked goods that I have ever had--and I have had a lot. We walked out with two boxes of an assortment of sticky buns, muffins, chicken pot pie had pies, mini bundt cakes and cookies. There is a much cuter location in Camden where an elderly lady beat me to the last 4 blueberry muffins. I think The Red Barn is a bit of a local secret but it should not be. Delicious baked goods should be known to all. Everything is delicious. We had the sticky buns, nicely caramelized with just enough icing, we had the mini red velvet cake, perfect size. I could go on and on. I will definitely visit every chance I get.

Fast forward to this year, my daughter is getting married and the Wedding Shower was going to be a Tea Party. We wanted to make up some Thank You Gifts with a Tea Cup and a silver spoon so I went back to Ron Reed. He was annoyed right off the bat because I didn't see his sign to turn the light on for myself. OK, sorry Buddy! So, he had to reprimand me for that. All I wanted was spoons so I went to the silverware box and pulled some out. I needed about 25-30 of them but since he charges fifty cents a piece which is actually quite pricey for old tarnished spoons. I decided to just get 40 of them...20 bucks! Sure, that was fine, he didn't have to give me change, no problem. I'll get 'em and go...NO. Not going to happen. Nothing can be easy! I walked up to Ron and he asked me if I can count. HUH? Yeah, I can count (at least up to 40). Then he tells me he's "been taken before". TAKEN? WHAT? I told him I wasn't there to TAKE HIM! I'm halfway mad at myself because he counted them and said I had 41. Darn it!! I can count and I thought I had 40 but he counted 41. I should have counted them again for myself but I wasn't there to TAKE HIM, so I reached in my purse and pulled out 50 cents. Why I'm mad at myself is that I didn't need that many spoons to begin with. I should have put some back instead of buying more than I needed. I'll just say; He's not a people person! I'm giving him 2 stars because his place is better organized than most "Antique" shops. It's small so it doesn't take too long to go through his place. Pretty much has the same stuff as most antique stores. The first time I was there he was complaining about his ex-wife to my husband. He just needs to learn how to talk to people. RUDE!

There's not a ton of high value objects, but plenty of nostalgia and thrifty finds. We spent at least 45 minutes browsing the rows and rows and ended up walking away with a bunch of vintage political pins (which I collect). They don't have a lot of staff on hand, so there can sometimes be a wait to flag down someone to open the cases and check out, but they're all very friendly. They accept credit cards but have an old school paper tracking system; they prefer cash.

We were very, very impressed and fell in love with multiple items right away. We settled on a beautifully restored mirror from the 1800s and the owner was kind enough to freshly paint some sections of the item and did a wonderful job restoring it. The store is gorgeous with some of the most unique and beautiful antiques I've seen anywhere. No junking here. But her prices are amazing! It's not a stuffy store at all. If I had not been flying back to Texas I would have spent 5 times more on some very unique items that I simply loved. It's a must see spot if you really want some gorgeous things at great prices. He didn't have the item, but it's not easy to find and my expectations on that were very low. A friendly customer who Bob was helping before me overheard and they both offered me great advice for continuing the hunt for my treasure. I had a look around the shop, and found a beautiful (fragile) trinket I decided to purchase. Bob took extra special care in wrapping my item to make sure it would get home in one piece. It was clear he cared, even though my purchase only cost $5. (A steal). When I went out to my car, Bob had followed to take down the "open" flag and saw that I had my dog with me. He called out "next time you come please bring your dog in with you!" And that just made my day. Customer service is everything, and this place is as good as is gets. I am putting this on my "must visit" list for my future returns to coastal Maine.
