According to the website its a "58 acre linear park running through the heart of downtown Frederick." When I think of Baker Park, I think of the bell tower or Carillon. I recently learnt this, but the Carillon is Maryland's largest musical instrument #ScoreOneForFrederick. The tower holds 49 bells which are played by a keyboard type mechanism at the bottom of the obelisk. It is played by a master Carillonneur John Wittman on the weekends. But also you can hear it's automated tolling on the hour when you're at the park any day of the week. The park was named after Joseph T Baker who was a local philanthropist and also the person who purchased the land for the park to built on in the 1920s. There is an organization of volunteers called the Friends Of Baker Park which helps to maintain the park and restore and renovate portions of it. All in all, it's a must see if you're headed to downtown Frederick. I could write endless words about Baker Park, but it is nothing compared to seeing it and experiencing it for yourself. That is the only thing that will do it justice. Walking along Carroll Creek has always been a delight, especially in the spring when the lily pads are out and the creek is teeming with ducks and other wildlife. It definitely makes you appreciate parks in general and how much they add to a city when they're well maintained and special. I think it's 100 percent aided in making Downtown Frederick a national destination to visit.

I remember I got a couple of free coupons from Wawa. I had a date that afternoon, and she met me here; she lived in Frederick. We walked around the beautiful park. Perhaps, there could be some more shade as it was lots of open space, but there were areas with trees close to Carroll Creek. Trails connect to the downtown Carroll Creek Park for an easy walk, which we walked to there on our date. This is a solid park with some amentities.

(Not that I'd want to hold either.) we met Dobbii the bearded dragon who is quite the snuggler. Doesn't take long to see the animals and there are lots of trails to explore as well as a playground for the kiddos.

This new splash pad and playground serves as a reminder that damn Loudon County has some money. We got here at noon with our toddler and only planned to spend a couple of hours and ended up basically being here until they closed in the middle of summer at 8 PM. I think it's an amazing design to have three playground design for different ages right near the splash pad. Luckily it was like 5000° out so kids dried off the minute they left the waterpark to go to playgrounds. So being a wet mess really wasn't a concern. There are a few rules to the waterpark that includes no toys and no dogs and the standard diaper requirements for the incontinent , but otherwise it's pretty open and people were really really well behaved. The bathrooms are amazingly clean for a public bathrooms and offer wide enough stalls to change in. It's highly recommended because of temperatures and the fact that most of the place is concrete to wear water shoes. The only issue we had was that a baby kept putting wet banana peels like this was Mario kart in the splash pad and people kept tripping on them. Most of the water features are well functioning and a lot of fun. The playground themselves range from ages 5 to 12, and have a lot of hills with Astroturf, which is kind of fun to just roll down and they have slides built into them. There are a lot of climbing activities. The slides do get hot on a sunny day, but since the kids are already wet from the waterpark, they seem fine. And the park is very clean. We went on a weekday and it wasn't really that crowded, but I can see how weekends could be pretty full. They also have lots of tables for our families to sit down and enjoy some picnic items.

Sooo I've been to this loop a few times to walk/jog prior to today 07'04'20 and always referred to…read moreit as the Quarry Loop but today I discovered that this location has a totally separate entrance from the homes and shopping/dining area and has its own identity, pretty neat. There are benches scattered throughout that are facing inward toward the lake, some with amazing views and a few obstructed by the trees & greenery but still serene spots to just sit, relax & chat or just take in the scenery. The trail/loop is a little under 2 miles in total and it offers great views, some flowers here and there and loads of geese. I've never experienced it being overly crowded with people on the loop and the atmosphere is very peaceful. I will continue to frequent this park. Oh and if it ever gets too hot while out there, you can always pop into Rita's Italian Ice or Custard ;-)

Numerous kid-friendly facilities, both outdoor but also an indoor nature center were available. There were plenty of live nonhuman animals and some chatty humans inside the nature center, which is now open on weekends. The sights on the outdoor trails were numerous, and tables to eat at were plentiful. All the facilities were clean and new. As a play date for kiddos (not mine), it was very impressive.
