I cannot say enough superlatives about Dr. Licata and his caring staff. My back and shoulder problems have caused me pain for several years. I have seen various doctors and chiropractors with little success. Using ultrasound and face-to face, hands-on diagnostics, along with MRI, Dr. Licata and his staff diagnosed my problems and devised a viable treatment plan. In fact, Dr. Licata is very creative and hands-on. Using a combination of non-invasive techniques, such as Prolotherapy, and injections of amniotic growth factors and platelet rich plasma, I have seen dramatic improvement in my pain level and range of motion. He also prescribed physical therapy using sound waves to reduce the calcification in my shoulders. Another important aspect in a doctor-patient relationship is that I feel that Dr. Licata listens to my concerns, and I don't ever feel that I am rushed out of his office. On every visit, I initially see a young doctor who does a preliminary evaluation, and often get a massage to loosen up the area to facilitate Dr. Licata's osteopathic manipulation of my back and/or shoulders. Dr. Licata always takes the time to patiently explain exactly what he is doing. He treats a patient from a holistic perspective, so when I told him about things going on in other parts of my body, such as recent cataract surgery, Dr. Licata recommended that I ask the eye surgeon whether I can do certain shoulder exercises that may impact the optic nerve. I can't say enough about the need to incorporate an intuitive and perceptive holistic approach to pain management and Dr. Licata does just this. I wish every doctor I encountered was like Dr. Licata. I went to see Dr Licata after having a terrible experience with a spine specialist from the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Licata took the time to thoroughly evaluate me and explain the reason for my intense back pain. He reviewed his recommendations and on that same visit he provided treatment. He is a master at giving injections! I cannot believe how little pain I felt. He uses ultrasound technology to pinpoint the exact area which makes a huge difference. They have so many innovating treatments available at his office which result in quality pain relief. As someone who will not take pain medicine, this is very important. After just a couple of hours, I already felt great relief from the pain that was present everyday for the last 3 months. I was a career firefighter and a home-improvement contractor for many years. Of course I developed severe tendinitis in my left elbow. Sometimes it was so bad I could not use my arm to brush my teeth or comb my hair! I went to dozens of different doctors over the years from MDs, DOs, DCs, massage therapists, acupuncturist, energy workers, a ridiculous amount of supplements, pressure bands and herbal salves - everything except Cortizone injections. Nothing helped UNTIL I saw Dr. Licata. An ultrasound revealed multiple tears and rips in my tendons and pockets of inflammation. He immediately started me on prolotherapy with a Saraphin cocktail. It's been a slow process but it's definitely incredibly better. I'm also using a prescribed a topical products with both anti-inflammatory and pain reducing drugs, so I don't have to take as much orally and natural products. And icing, more icing and more icing. For the 12 weeks of recovery I am to use my arm as little as possible and to massage the area to break up the scar tissue in the muscles and tendons. My only other option is to surgically remove the damaged part of the tendon and have it reattached to the bone - not an option anybody ever suggested to me and not an option I would generally accept. Prognosis? Doc says 100% within 12 weeks! Dr. Licada rocks with his bedside manner too. His clinic is a teaching clinic so there's always an intern around learning something - and so do you. Due to sciatic nerve pain I sought out Peter for massage therapy as I heard he was excellent. My first appointment was great and I felt he was extremely good at what he does. I scheduled a second appointment for the following week. All I can say was very unprofessional both he and Dr. Licata and another male employee. Peter made some weird sounding noises in the very beginning of the session. Within 10 minutes, Dr. Licata came into the room without knocking on the door, stayed for a minute and then left. When I asked who had come in, Peter said it was Dr. Licata and wanted to see "what was going on". Within 2 minutes, another male employee came into the room, also without knocking and then walked out. I am not sure what was going on as I was laying face down on the massage table. I am now extremely uncomfortable with the office, procedures, and respect for their patients. I feel that my privacy rights were violated as well as my emotional well being. read more
