Eh, I've had way better. Ice cream is sort of airy and relatively flavorless. As a backdrop for basically eating a cup of candy, it's fine, but it's no Mr. G's. Staff is really friendly and helpful, service was quick, they have a nice bunch of tables and a small amount of shade to sit in, which was great on the somewhat rainy day we visited. We both got cyclones, one chocolate and one vanilla base. The vanilla had better flavor. The mix-ins aren't fully mixed in. The bottom half of the cup is just ice cream, then a layer mixed in, then more plain ice cream. read more

called in to oder food for Mother's day so no one had to cook. Had to wait in line anyway. Paid and was told the order was still not ready. After waiting half an hour, having checked a couple of times, I was informed my food was given away to someone. Not happy but mistakes happen, the annoying part was no one even apologized. No one took any responsibility. If there was a negative for staff attitude , service and customer service I would give it. Got my refund and left. read more

Good neighborhood ice cream joint with 50s vibe. They have an interior area where you can eat a small menu of grilled items and a couple outdoor ordering windows. The ice cream menu has something in everyone's price range which I love because a lil kid with a dollar can go get an ice cup. That being said your more popular items are a little pricier than other spots. Expect to wait because there is always a line here in the summer. As someone who grew up in South Toledo and used to walk by Lickity Split every day on the way to school for a number of years I feel a strong sense of nostalgia every time I drive by 20+ years later. Would not remake my ice cream they messed up. Then asked me to pay for another one because she could not afford to remake. Wow! Then my son orders a chocolate chip cookie dough cyclone and they put a little chocolate chip cookie dough on top and bone through the ice cream. So I basically paid $5.00 for a cup of vanilla ice cream. This place is skimpy on toppings, high in price, and doesn't believe in making customer happy! We will not be back EVER! This is an ice-cream shack, and I mean that endearingly. This is good old-fashioned Americana. See also the Glenview Dairy Bar in Glenview, IL; the Twin Kiss in Lewistown, PA; and [fill-in-the-blank] in every other American town worth its salt. They've got two slide-open windows, a spare few parking spaces, some beat-up dirty outdoor seating, a high-school staff (the dour variety unfortunately, not the usual bubbly variety), a colorful and electic sign board with a couple of misspellings...pretty much everything that you need. They sell soft-serve cups and cones, shakes, sundaes, and a few other concoctions. They add some flair with their specialty items, such as the Maumee River Mud Sundae. You can't look down your nose at a joint like this. EVERYBODY loves an ice-cream shack. read more

Horrible food and service, I ordered a glizzy w a side of fries and my fries were hard and had no seasoning. My dog was damn near raw and the smallest I have ever seen. I don't recommend this place to anyone. Has gone very downhill the last few years. Also, while waiting 20mins for my hot dog and fries, I was stuck sitting in the beating sun because they do not have any shade coverage. Aswell as them asking for and begging for tips. read more

Lickity Split is synonymous with my childhood. Melting hot days of summer relieved with melting ice cream cones running down your wrist as you hurray to consume it before the temperature does! Lickity Split means that summer is here and that it's time to spend it with friends and family. On any given night you will be sure to see a whole line of t-ball players getting their obligatory reward for a game well-played, or a whole family treating their kids (and dog!) to kiddie cones and sundaes. My personal favorites include: Red Slush on a Stick; vanilla kiddie cone with red wax on top (sounds weird but it's good), and the butterfinger blast sundae. The hot dog and fries lunch plate is the epitome of good ole' American diner cookin. Do know that their ice cream is soft serve, and they also serve low-fat, no sugar options. Why anyone would ever rag on this place is beyond me. Sure there is little parking in the lot - but there is plenty of street parking. The outdoor tables may be dirty now and then (it IS Toledo!), but there is always indoor seating during the day. The staff may be high school students, but they are local faces that denote the changing of time and how kids grow so fast! Go to Lickity Split for an affordable, home-town, good ole' ice cream time. The lines may look long during prime times (6-8) but don't be fooled the workers keep the line moving. Lickity Split has been one of my favorite summer ice cream spots for a while, they have a great selection of wacky drinks and flavors, though I like to play it classic with cones and shakes. What's best though, the inside is great! It's like stepping back in time to a little '50's diner with a small counter and a few tables and booths. What's more, they have great and affordable diner food. From a classic cheeseburger (for less than $3!) to $1 fries, tasty grilled cheeses and a whole lot more, Lickity Split is a fantastic spot for a simple Americana lunch that'll put your mind at ease. I'm giving four stars simply because the ice cream is good but the ice cream is soft serve with one or two toppings. It's still nice to have a local ice cream place, but the lines have us intensely sweating by the time we get the ice cream. While I enjoy the convenience and new retro and trendy look of this modern ice cream stop, I do have some complaints. First of all, the service here is sub-par, maybe even lower. It took a very long time to get my ice cream, and the cashier screwed up the price, she didnt seem competent in her math skills. We also didn't receive a receipt, something most people don't care about, but I tend to. The staff also managed to screw up the order in front of me, which made us wait longer. I got an orange cone and my friend got a vanilla with chocolate dip top. The girl at the counter convinced me to get the orange, and it ended up tasting very little like orange, I was very disappointed! There were no napkins anywhere and I had to wait in line again (a long line, typical of a Friday night) just to get them! And they were cheap napkins, not the quality paper product you would like to have at an ice cream place such as this, especially when the ice cream is leaking all over your hands! The construction of the cones and quality of the care put into the dip top made the ice cream harder to enjoy as well. I typically have liked this place, and enjoy their products, but it seems the staff need to step up their game! Let's just say my tip was smaller than it could've been! 1 (and a half) star(s). read more
