We must have eaten here four times during our trip in Tulum. We originally thought it was a specialty coffee shop, but it's really more of a smoothie, juice and vegan brunch/lunch spot. Everything was light and fresh and everything we could have wanted while getting acclimated to the extremely hot and humid weather we were experiencing. Delicious food! Just wish the portions were a tad bigger. It would also be nice to have different choice of a side then white bread, perhaps fruit or vegetables. The staff are super friendly and gave us hibiscus drink to try that was refreshingly tart and sweet. I had the harvest lentil bowl which was perfect. I also tried the coffee, which was so creamy, not too sweet, and packed with nice complimenting flavors and textures of coconut and cinnamon bark. I also tried the green smoothie, which was more of a juice consistency, which I liked, and not too sweet which was great. It was very refreshing. It was such a fun and lovely experience eating here and I'll definitely be going back the next time I'm in Tulum. read more

Liefs popped up repeatedly so naturally we went during our Tulum trip. We got the BBQ Jackfruit sandwich, a taco, and the power bowl! Oh-- and a green smoothie. Everything was packed with flavor, filling, and healthy! Usually when we travel we eat horrible because of all the vegan junk food places that we don't typically have back home, but this was perfect. My favorite was the BBQ jackfruit sandwich. The outdoor seating is in a shaded area where it is nice and comfy-- and the menu has something to suit everyone's tastebuds. We also got the mini crepes that actually resembled silver dollar pancakes covered in chocolate, strawberries, and bananas. Try them out! Casual Tulum van life style vegan spot. It is all outdoors and great for grab and go. The real show stopper here is their coffee, they blend/froth it and add coconut milk and coconut shavings and it's probably the best coffee drink I have ever had. I get them daily. From the moment we arrived, the staff and owner were friendly and full of smiles, we had so much fun chatting we nearly forgot that we were hungry.   We enjoyed reading the origin story of Liefs from their menu and then perusing the sumptuous options for authentic local inspired food listed on the opposite page (photos included in review).   My wife and I started off with some delicious mezcal (400 Conejos) to toast in celebration for having found Liefs. It was exactly what we were looking for - something romantic and peaceful - away from the noisy and often overpriced places in the Tulum resort area.   I ordered the generously portioned Taco Tubito, and it was an artfully crafted nom. The perfect starter to tempt me for more.   My wife, ever the tasteful hedonist, started with the Bomb Banana Bread (dessert). The home-baked bread was moist, fresh and not too sweet, with all the ingredients obviously present and balanced.   I then followed with the Smokey Shroom Sandwich. Not exaggerating here, it was the best mushroom sandwich I have ever eaten. The sandwich was top quality comfort food with excellent flavor and texture. Even the chips were amazing. Unsurprisingly, it was also the menu favorite of the owner!   I would unquestionably return to Liefs for another meal at any time of the day, and expect that everything will be just as exceptional. None of the workers wear a mask, including the ones manipulating the food, there are 2 stands for making food, one for drinks, one for food, the cooks go on doing the thing without wearing a mask, while the servers come so close to chat for orders and just keep on spreading! I requested if they would wear a mask, and only one of them (the server that was mostly helping us) put on one. It's just very disappointing that a "conscious comfort food made with love" are without holding themselves accountable in regards to this very serious subject & to help slow down the spread. read more

Cozy place with yummy food. I'd call it a hole in the wall, but there are no walls. A couple of green VW looking buses, some chairs and tables, a campfire at night, and a nice chicken that cleans up scraps off the ground. Vegan place (I'm not a vegan) that will have me coming back for more. The staff are incredibly kind and hardworking. I met one of the owners. Vegan or not vegan Liefs is a MUST visit while in Tulum. I can honestly say that stopping at Liefs has completely changed my concept of Vegan food. It was absolutely delicious and was one of our repeat spots during our last trip. That's saying a lot considering all the amazing food in Tulum. We tried the taco, charcoal activated burger, mushroom sandwich, banana bread and specialty coffee. I loved every single dish and my favorite is the mushroom sandwich. I've tried almost every restaurant in this town and in the hotel zone and this is definitely on the top of my list! I want to start off with their burger, it's phenomenal! I'm from Texas therefore BBQ is our 'thang' and let me tell you!!!! This burger is comparable to a brisket sandwich except it's BETTER! Their banana bread is so moist, better than any banana bread I've ever tried. The mushroom is also fantastic and their array of amazing drinks/juices on the menu is great as well. Wooooow. We came back 3 times to have the best coffee all of us had ever had. Their were four of us and I'm the only one vegan and we ALL wanted to come back for lunch and coffees. Literally EVERYTHING on their menu was delicious. I was so impressed by their mission statement too. These guys should have 1000 five star reviews. The owner & employees are very kind & welcoming, and I LOVE the concept of homegrown vegan *PLANT BASED (no soy or processed foods).
