Dr Steele was very compassionate and kind to both the humans and their companions. Since Dr Steele sold the business to an out-of-state owner, things have gone downhill and continue to do so. There has been no permanent veterinarian for about one year and they rely on visiting vets from 2 hours away. The last time I took my little dogs in for their wellness visits, one of the techs dragged my little guy by the leash across the waiting room floor to get on the weight scale. She could have easily picked him up and placed him on the scale. More recently, the visiting vet said my little guys needed dental cleaning - I received an estimate of $3,000 - $4,000 each. That included 3 - 4 hours under anesthesia - for a dental cleaning!! It the past the dental work took 30 - 60 minutes and cost +/- $1,000. Then when I needed a prescription refill, they charged me 4 times the price that I could have spent on chewy. I understand a premium for the local service, but 4x is outrageous. Hold onto your wallet if you dare to go there.

And be over paid for simply laying eyes on you, and prescribing whatever b.s. big pharma is pushing. Did you know a dr. Isnt allowed to tell you what kinds of foods to eat or avoid to help control your cholesterol? Crazy right. Oh ps this office is now closed for good, he couldnt afford to stay open without cutting off patients who couldnt pay.

This is not good when someone needs their records for Social Security & he has the records for a crucial point in time & for the reason they're applying for SSI. This is a non-profit medical center. Whatever that means. If you don't have health insurance, they have a "sliding scale" option. However, since a certain Congressional legislation was implemented, not sure how this "sliding scale" is going to work. They are not a "walk-in" clinic, but I did manage to get a "same day" appointment. I called at 8:00 right at opening, and was on hold for five minutes. Hmmmmmm.......... They keep a whiteboard hanging where they notify people of the wait time. At the time I came in, it was blank. However, at the 30 minute waiting point, I inquired as to why there was no information on the white board. The desk person said, "we usually wait for them to tell us" but she decided to go inquire. She then wrote "50 minutes" as the wait time. At exactly the 50 minute point (50 minutes past my appointment time), I was seen. There is a sign that says, "if you have been waiting past 15 minutes, inform someone." But the medical tech that took my vitals indicated that sign is pointless as they routinely run late. 50 minutes is the "norm." I have to give them a "thumbs up" for the fact that they did NOT ask for my SS number. There is no legal reason health care providers need your SS number.

The gentleman working was really helpful, admitted he didn't know what some things were and sent me on my way. I didn't know everything was free till I tried to pay him.
