We used to think that mood boards were just a way to capture general inspiration and vibes for an event. Life in Bloom proved us wrong as they managed to bring our mood board pictures into reality. We don't just mean getting an approximation, we mean a fully accurate interpretation that honestly enhanced those stunning images. We used Life in Bloom for décor for our Indian wedding with four events across four separate venues all around Chicago. We are still receiving praise for how amazing each event looked, with guests specifically highlighting the attention to detail as well as the gorgeous floral arrangements. One guest told us that she had been taking pictures of every single floral arrangement because they all looked perfect. Another guest sent us a message that said, "the Wedding Mandap and the bridal walkway were the most beautiful I have ever seen. The floral arrangements at every event were mind blowing." From our very first meeting, Rachel, Tim, and Sara spent a lot of time understanding our wishes. They then crafted color palettes and mood boards for each event, giving each one a completely unique identity while making everything feel cohesive with consistent motifs throughout. One of our worries with so many events was that it might end up feeling repetitive, but every single event felt completely different to the one that came before. In this process, we loved seeing how excited the Life in Bloom team was, working off each other and continuously suggesting new ideas. They worked well together while never losing sight of what we wanted or what made sense logistically. When we arrived at our first décor sample, we knew we had made the right choice. Everything looked stunning, and their initial placements of linens, napkins, and tablescapes were already so well thought out. The actual events were no different, looking jaw-dropping at every single venue. We loved that we got to see each room first, and there are plenty of pictures of us literally on the floor in awe. We wish we got to see guests' reactions for the room reveals because we know every single one left people speechless. We also wanted to highlight how easy it was to work with the Life in Bloom team. We never felt any friction or resistance. We loved seeing them at every venue, watching our reactions from afar but never interrupting us. We later learned that one of the installers from one of our venues never showed up, and apparently Tim himself jumped in for an emergency complex installation of the large centerpiece item. On our wedding ceremony day, there was a lot of unpredictable weather. Instead of forcing us into the much easier rain plan, Life in Bloom worked with us through a lot of fluid decisions and installation that let us have our dream wedding outdoors, something we appreciate so much. We really hope people look through the Life in Bloom portfolio and see their impressive work, especially their florals. They did so many custom things for us that were all very intricate, and they had to work on a ton of different line items in many different locations, day after day. I started the design process with a color scheme and a few ideas, but LIB was able to elevate those ideas in ways I could not have never come up with. My husband and I worked with LIB for our November 2021 wedding at The Langham. I wanted to fully embrace the season and all of the colors, but make it modern and something that guests would talk about long after the wedding day. We had our ceremony set up in a round with a suspended floral statement piece over it. When I walked into the ceremony space I started tearing up! It was everything I had envisioned and more. We then had a room flip for the reception with the dance floor under the statement piece and a mix of long and round guest tables. They were instrumental in piecing together all of the rental items as well like flatware, chargers, linen etc. Their professionalism is outstanding and they go above and beyond to make your wedding feel like the most important event they have ever worked on. There are truly no words to express how incredible Rachel, Tim and the entire Life in Bloom team is. My husband and I worked with them for our June wedding at the Art Institute of Chicago in the Modern Wing. They are without a doubt the best of the best. Rarely do people notice or comment on flowers at weddings but I can honestly say that people are still talking about our floral arrangements and the décor from our wedding night. Their personalized and thoughtful approach, attention to detail and incredible talent for executing stunning arrangements blew us away through and through. During our first meeting with them (before we had even officially hired them) Rachel and Tim spent as much time necessary to make sure they fully understood our vision. They were so patient as they walked us through all of our options, showed us some very special and unique ideas and took careful note of what we did and didn't like. By the end of the meeting, I could tell that they completely understood our vision down to the smallest details and even helped us clarify the details that we weren't so sure about. Following our meeting we received a very detailed and easy to understand proposal, mood board and custom rendering of everything we had discussed with them. We also had a meeting with them a few months before the wedding where they actually created a sample floral arrangement for us to look at and make tweaks to. We had up until a few weeks before the wedding to make changes and finalize a lot of the details which was such a relief and gave us time to really fine tune what we wanted. Highly recommend Life in Bloom! My husband and I absolutely loved working with Rachel and Erin for our décor, and they did a phenomenal job making our Indian-Chinese-American multicultural wedding absolutely beautiful. In addition to their high level of professionalism and kindness, here are a few highlights that set them above and beyond: - Artistic vision: Décor is definitely not my forte, so I felt like I needed a great deal of help in this area. I used Pinterest and gave them a few ideas of what my husband and I liked and didn't like, and Rachel and Erin were able to craft a beautiful vision based on the colors that we chose - a warm mix of pinks, oranges, and yellow. Our mandap (Indian altar) turned out beautifully, and I couldn't be happier with how elegant everything looked in the end. I also didn't want "over the top" flowers, and they totally nailed what I would consider a toned-down, nature look with pops of colors. The bridal party bouquets were perfect! My husband's parents are avid gardeners and they came with us to interview décor vendors; Life in Bloom was also their top pick, so we found comfort in knowing that our parents felt great about our choice too! - Promptness: Rachel and Erin ALWAYS hit deadlines. Their payment schedule was very reasonable. They also sent us email reminders a few days before payments were due, which were incredibly helpful when you're working with a bunch of vendors and have to keep track of all the deadlines. They were also very responsive and prompt in responding to emails, which we greatly appreciated, right up to the day before and day of our wedding. - Well organized: Tying in with my above and below points, all our invoices were very organized and itemized clearly, which helped greatly with transparency regarding what we were paying for. - Tech savvy: My husband and I enjoy keeping track of things online, and we needed vendors who could work well with us remotely, as we were planning a multi-day wedding in Chicago from Boston. We were very impressed with the CAD renderings of the mandap. The design layouts looked so professional and were very organized. They were also easy to keep track of through our email and Google Docs shared folder. It made communication so much easier. - Personal touches: From the first meeting where they put our names on the board to welcome us, sparking water at our meetings, and all the way up to the little moss elephant that I wanted to include in our wedding and our framed engagement pictures, they just nailed the little details that made our wedding feel very much like us. We also felt heard throughout this whole process, even when we couldn't articulate exactly what we wanted. Price-wise, wedding décor is pretty expensive in general; Life in Bloom fell mid-range in our pricing for décor as compared to 3 other vendors. However, we felt that we received great value for our money, and when there were items that were outside our budget, they were very understanding and took the time to work through it with us to make sure we had our top priorities reflected in the wedding. Overall, Rachel and Erin are very kind, detail-oriented, and hardworking women. They put an unbelievable amount of effort and work into our mutli-day, multi-cultural wedding, which as you can imagine is no easy task - and it was executed beautifully. The wedding was held at Fourth Presbyterian Church and the reception at The Langham in Chicago. We were absolutely ecstatic over the execution of our vision. Erin was our contact and she was a complete delight to work with. She was professional, kind, patient and so easy to work with. We presented photos and inspiration boards and she transformed our vision into the most breathtaking presentation throughout the entire venue. Let me start with a couple curve balls: My husband and I don't live in Chicago: Not only was she our easiest vendor to work with, but right off the bat, she gave me information in a clear and concise (and not to mention visual!) manner. To boot, she actually had our meetings over google hang outs so I could meet her online, as opposed to my sky high phone bill in Canada. I had a weird and changing budget: Rachel dodged a lot of bullets with my husband and I; our venue closed down so she was so incredibly flexible when it came to redoing our budget (more than once might I add) and work out ways to make the budget friendly and allow her to work freely. Additionally, she allowed me to change our color scheme along with the venue change. Things I love about Rachel, just to add to my review: - When we met the day of, I hugged her as if I knew her forever. That's how amazingly down to earth and super nice she is. - Everyone at the wedding was talking about the flowers. I mean everyone. All of my guys friends - talking about the flowers. Like, I cannot express enough how insanely creative, talented and professional Rachel is. - She introduced us to our photographer. We had to postpone because of Covid. The owner, told us that we could not transfer deposit to another date. If we don't like it, don't sign the contract next. Having to change a wedding because of a pandemic is one thing, having a vendor treat us the way they did is another. All of our other vendors were extremely accommodating. Rachel has an amazing eye for design and was able to help me take the ideas I had in my head and bring them to life. She is very easy to work with and made sure that I was happy with every decision that was made throughout the whole process. I'm not a very artistic person myself, and she was very patient with looking through different flowers with me and helping me identify and piece together what exactly it was that I wanted. She not only created my floral arrangements, but helped with the overall styling and design for both my ceremony and reception and helped make our venue romantic with some vintage touches. After talking twice about ideas, she put together a mini mock up to show me how everything would look together - this was so helpful and really made me see what the complete package would be. Working with Rachel was a dream! She was one of the few florists that I contacted that responded to me in a timely fashion. When we met for an initial consultation, she brought samples that really matched the look I was going for - I knew that she would be the perfect florist. Over the next several months she sent me ideas and feedback on ideas I presented. One of my crazy ideas was to spray paint glass bottles to look like mercury glass, a job I thought I would have time for but quickly realized that was not going to happen - Rachel took on the project and executed it beautifully.
