I would give negatives stars if I can at this point. The social media guru was nice enough to respond to my one star update. The DM convo was.. going to be giving me a refund back of out "customer service courtesy" and then they rescinded after I asked if it's going to be refund check sent to me. This is the first business that I've encountered that does not apologize for giving misinformation to Customer Time and Time over. For the few hundred bucks, it showed a lot on how they treat customers. This is the second time the company said they refund just to rescind. Maybe third time's a charm! read more

The men's locker room floor, showers floor not clean and covered with dust and hair. I did not see anyone cleaning during my stay. Also, the music is too loud. Why? Visited this place middle December while in Boston for a business trip. Hit the gym early am both days. Crowd not too bad. Nice parking garage and beautiful place. Sort of like a high end country club of gyms. People were nice. Although, I like to hit the weights hard and this place is not set up for that type of a workout. read more

This is not a review of the place, but of the service and policies. My friend and I wanted a membership. She got one for $129 a month, and I was quoted $169. The reason we were told is that she is under 30 years old and I am over 30. When I asked why they would make such a distinction, I was told that they assume most people under 30 in Boston are students, and make less money than people over 30. I was SHOCKED by that response. They are giving a discount just because of some random misguided assumption based on age, that has very little to do with reality. If they were really concerned about discount to people making less money, they would give student discounts, or income-based discounts. But sounds like they are trying to attract very specific type of people to the club and they assume someone who is 29 automatically fits that description and someone who is 31 does not. Honestly that is just pure age discrimination. When I emailed the management staff to bring it to their attention, they did not bother replying. read more

I've been a member for a couple of months now and have a love/hate relationship with this gym. The facility is very nice, but it is all about the sale! The salesperson who gave me a tour was extremely condescending and almost pressured me to join. He also told me things that turned out to be false - look at these huge exercise studios! You'll never have a problem getting into a class - false. The classes are filled to the brim, particularly early morning or late afternoons, even with the huge studios. You need to get in early to get a spot or else you'll be squeezed in fighting for space with other people. I have also noticed that they have very few class instructors. There are some classes that I definitely enjoy, but there are a few duds, and some of the instructors do not vary the classes very much - I take a class that is exactly the same week after week. What is the fun in that? They give you an "onboarding" session with a trainer, which turns out to be nothing more than a sales pitch to sign you up for either personal training, which at between $100-$150 per week, was a no thanks for me, or nutritional coaching, which is also ridiculously expensive. They also have other classes that you have to pay for. Again, my onboarding trainer made me feel very self conscious for not saying here Lifetime take an additional $400 per month in addition to what I am already paying in dues. Then there is the push for the Lifetime branded products - the protein powder, vitamins... outrageously priced recovery shakes at the cafe... I could go on and on. Another selling point for them is the Kids Academy. I've found the staff to be inconsistent and my kids don't enjoy it that much. I've seen kids get yelled at for no reason and my own kids have gotten blamed for things that they didn't do. The one positive thing about being a member at Chestnut Hill is that you get access to the Clubs in Framingham and Westwood. Now, there is a big difference between those clubs and Chestnut Hill. The locker rooms in particular at those two clubs feel dirty and not well kept. I don't like going to those clubs and only go if I am in the area. I am currently locked into a one year contract but will probably cancel once my year is up. read more

I have been a member of Lifetime Athletic, primarily at the Chestnut Hill location, since the summer of 2020. I'm primarily a group fitness guy. The instructors are generally very good. I've also taken Pilates apparatus (reformer) classes with a woman named Julia for several months. Her instruction is excellent. She is enthusiastic, very positive and really knows her stuff. Her sessions do cost extra money but they are well worth it. If you have an injury or just an area of your body that is weak or creaky, she will address it. You will grow in strength and flexibility and your powerhouse, or your core, will thank you. Give her a try and you'll see what I mean. All ages are welcome. read more

My family and I have been members of LifeTime for 2 years since it first opened at this location, and we have always had the best experience here. I had to cancel my individual membership in July because I was going away for 5 months, and then was recently only home for 3 weeks before leaving again to go back to college. Joey was extremely kind, helpful, and generous in making sure that I still had access to the club without having to sign up for my membership again since I was leaving. This is an complete night and day difference compare to Westwood. We called WW before we head down to CH to see if we need to prepare anything before we try the place. They said no but there will be additional charge if we decide to use both locations, and they will take care of us with a 7 days pass. We were greeted right as we walked in. I informed the the staff that we are members from WW and here to try the place. They didn't direct us to member sale personnel as expected. But instead the staff at front desk stated that we are not qualify members and "I can only let you guys in once... need to pay more if you stay... we be in trouble." Whoa! What was that for? I remember vaguely but the way he said it make us think like we freeloader, and like we are not even members of WW. We left it as that. The fitness center is a lot smaller compare to WW. It's pretty much like a LA Fitness set up with a spa and a cafe. I've signed up with many gym centers from $16 Super Fitness to Equinox(former Sports Club LA) at Avery St, Boston. read more

Hubby and I were hesitant at first about going from no gym membership to such an expensive gym membership at Lifetime CH, especially when the gym complex hasn't finished building, but so happy we took that leap of faith. 1) Environment: There is natural lighting into the main workout area and most of the class rooms. Complex is spacious and there are more than enough machines of each kind for everyone so there is never a wait. Well aired which makes a huge difference when people start sweating and smelling. Love the idea of having a cafe on site (food and prices are pretty good) where you can grab a smoothie or a sandwich right after your workout. While I don't have children, I appreciate Lifetime offers parents an opportunity to work out when they can rest assured their children are in good hands. Lockers are plentiful, showers have very good water pressure. Spa pool looks comfy but haven't tested it out. 2) Classes and equipment: Good selections of classes although many in the morning start at 6:00am rather than 6:30am on the weekdays which makes it a bit difficult to get to unless you live next door. So far I have taken a dance jam class and also a few yoga classes and the instructors are good and motivating. Many of the machines Lifetime CH have are super high tech, they record your workout each time and you can see your own progress over the time. 3) Crowd: Unlike some fitness places where I have been to where the entire clientele is young, fit and model looking, and only go by Lulu Lemon, I very much enjoy the diversity here. From young to old, less in shape to super fit, debutant to experienced, various cultural/racial backgrounds, I feel comfortable with myself here. 4) Parking: Parking underground is a bit tight but it never gets full so it is never an issue. There is also a bike rack to store your bike should you decide to bike to the fitness center. However you still have to bring your bike underground because there is where the bike rack is. Perhaps Lifetime and have an above ground bike rack option as well. For 1 you pay $180, for 2 you pay $250. Good way to motivate your +1 to work out. Hope to see 6:30am weekday classes added to the schedule in the future! read more

This gym was great but their cancel policy is awful. Absolutely terrible I tried to cancel my membership three times and they still kept charging me. I just got a charge for $150 and I am a college student who cannot afford this. I have tried so many times and said for staff to cancel my membership but they didn't and I need that money back cause I have not used their facilities in five months. It is awful. read more

The vibe there is snob central. If you want to go to get dirty looks for no reason then it's a place for you. Even the people that work there especially the personal trainers can't seem to stand each other. For instance there were two personal trainers I saw that looked like they wanted to fight each other. I saw people clean the bathrooms but I have never seen anybody clean the gym equipment. Planet Fitness people clean the gym equipment constantly even when it's busy. For the amount of money it costs to go to Lifetime I think that notion that you get what you pay for is overrated. read more

One year ago I bought a trial membership for myself and my daughter. Soon I realized that I cannot attend it and after one month came back to cancel. At the reception I was assured that the best option would be a suspension, there wouldn't be a problem - the cost would be $30 per month for 6 months, after that the membership will end automatically. Also, I requested my child membership to be ceased outright. Unfortunately my English is far from perfect and I had not realized that the management would manipulate that: I was not given anything in writing. I have been travelling out of the country a lot since then. In July, while abroad I found out that in June the club automatically reactivated my membership without revoking my daughter's and charged us for 3 full monthly fees. Upon return, I went to the club with my husband to figure out what's going on. We were shown the original monthly contract, while the manager was trying to insist that this was a termed binding agreement. Our request to see the membership freeze and removal of the child elicited a flat refusal and doubts about my English proficiency. We were told that the child membership had been cancelled and the child fee was not being charged, that was not true - my card was being charged fees for adult+child membership. Certainly, it's my fault that I did not insist on all copies and haven't been checking my credit card carefully, nevertheless I'd like emphasize the completely unacceptable attitude on behalf of the club management, public admonition about my inadequate English and deliberate misleading of clients about the membership conditions. read more

I am confused. Is the Lifetime Clinic part of the Lifetime Health-club? It was a part of the sales pitch but the clinic is poorly staffed and only have a chiropractor no PT professional. I don't want a chiropractor to do PT on me and charge Chiropractor rates. What gives? When asked when they will have PT I am told they are looking into it but have not had any luck. Love this gym and I think I've probably joined them all over the years. It's the classes that make this one so good. I haven't tried spinning but the yoga, dance, weights, step, and barre classes are really good. No pool, but I'm not a swimmer. Ample parking so there's no frustration driving around for a spot. I love the lifetime pool but there are a few flaws. The first one is the food on the kids menu. My daughters do not like it. The second is the rules of the pool. My 7 year old daughter took the swim test which means that she can swim alone in the pool. BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!! For some stupid reason in the smaller more contained inside pool even with passing the swim test she is not aloud to swim without a parent. However, she was aloud to swim outside alone. But besides that I love the pool. I get to relax while my daughters are having fun on the water slides and the OUTSIDE POOL, NOT THE INSIDE POOL. read more

I was very disappointed with Lifetime. I joined and once they got my $$ everything changed including monthly charges. Everytime I go there is something wrong wether my trainer has canceled or late or not getting back to me. Also there is not a trainer on floor to help especially if anyone is in trouble or something happens. I was told all the trainers are with private clients again more $$ for company. I would think this is illegal to not have someone supervising on floor. I paid extra for private group training and we are in a tiny area cause the other group takes over most the area and plays loud music so we can't hear anything and not able to use rowers etc cause other class using them. They always run out of mats etc. Also I was told there would never be more than 6 to a class and it's always more than 8 if not more. I showed up to take a yoga class and once I arrive it has been changed last minute to a completely different class. Again everytime I go I am disappointed it is always something. Again upon joining I was told that if I didn't like it I could cancel no problem no questions asked the management would work with me or give my money back. Come to find out cause I cancelled the other day cause I've had it after being a member for a month they tell me I need to give 1 mtg notice no $$ back. You are charged for anything extra besides your gym membership wether it is a complimentary session etc they charge you. They are always looking for more money and very aggressive in selling you more things. I am extremely disappointed and they were not honest. Please think before you join it is very shady. It's a lot of $$ and not worth the money at all. If you have money to throw away go for it but I don't and if I did I would want a gym that stands by what they say and you get your moneys worth. I joined lifetime in june and added my daughter on so that she could use the pool. First the positive: the gym is great and the trainer i had is great. But the corporation is greedy and conniving! I had 1 training session and then a recurring knee pain started which i had off and on for 13 years (not weight related: i was thin then!). I cancelled the rest of my sessions but was told i could NOT BE REFUNDED without a dr note. Even after i went to the dr and brought them the note they still gave me a hard time about refunding. They kept at it for about 45 min before relenting. Now the POOLS. The positive: the pools are beautiful and clean as are the facilities. BUT. Every hr all kids under 11 have to GET OUT of all pools for a total of 10 min, and 15 min if there is a heat wave. Yes u heard right. Some lifeguards i ask say its for the kids safety and some claim its for the lifeguards to take a break. Instead of hiring more lifeguards i guess??? Anyway i took my daughter off the membership and am bringing her to DEDHAM HEALTH AND ATHLETIC where theyre less greedy. read more
