I've been to a ton of Lifetimes around the U.S and this Skokie Lifetime is by far the worst of them all which is a disappointment, because it is the closest Lifetime to me. I've been a member since 2003 and I do not understand why they are a Diamond level. Not much has changed besides adding Q-tips, mouthwash, shavers etc. They have a limited supply in workout machinery and have a ton of useless open space for HIT training or whatever they do with it , which no one ever uses. Their basketball courts are used and abused by kids camps, Zumba classes and now pickle ball LOL. The flooring has tons of dead spots, it is always filthy and dirty which is a high risk to injury. They took down 1 side of the basketball courts to revamp into a pickle ball court. It's deff not worth the money nor do they deserve a diamond level as a club. This gym is literally an overpriced Xsport or LA Fitness, don't waste your money or time. read more

In all sincerity, this health club is still better than Xsport and LA FITNESS so despite its deficiencies its not like we have too many other options to choose from. However, my issue with this health club is that they are using the pandemic as a cop out to not return to a 24 hour club which is one of the reasons I signed up. If that is the case, then they should adjust the pricing as so since they took this factor into account when they were "SELLING" me the initial membership. Additionally, why not just be honest and say you do not want to go back to a 24hr club since you are now able to revert back to that time slot ( Xsport did it), rather than continuing to blame the current crisis. Also, I know there is nothing they can do about this, but this is just a forewarning that the weights section is mostly inundated with pubescent high schoolers or 20 year olds chit chatting. Despite the higher price, this place gets packed (with these teen boys) and because LIFETIME chose to do away with the 24 hour schedule, you have to figure out a time to go when there are not these teenagers hogging the weight machines/dumbbells. read more

Once upon a time ago this was a great place to workout but it has increasingly gone down the drain. Mainly with cleanliness, hours and customer service. The teenaged employees they have working the desk pretend to be professional but then when managers go home for the night, they become rude and inconsiderate. Don't you dare ask them a question; it will be met with hostility. This gym was once a 24 hour location but now they close at 12 during the week and 10 on the weekend. To add injury to insult, they lock the doors 35 minutes before officially closing; so if you're not in 35 minutes prior, you will not get in. This is something they should mention to members when they sign up. The equipment use to be randomly cleaned but now, every time I use something it's filthy. The crazy part about everything I'm saying is this is the only club that allows this level of nonsense and unprofessionalism. Northbrook is a great club; so Is Vernon hills and Brookfield WI. Skokie is the black eye of the company though. I will be canceling asap. read more

My friend and I came here as a guest, yesterday. We both got guest passes from another location and decided to check out the skokie location since it is closer to home. I was very disappointed -- the moment we walked in, we were not greeted. The lady looked very annoyed that she had to sign us as guest. She called over her manager I assumed about us having guest passes & questioned us where we got the passes. Its obviously a valid pass if it scanned. I was just very unpleased at how they approached my friend and I. People were very rude as well. Nobody says excuses me. Another incident happened in the locker room where my friend and I had our bags on the benches because we were changing. A member of Lifetime just came up to us and said "are you just going to leave your stuff here or are you going to let me sit down" .. Ma'am I would more likely have let you sit down if you were nice about it. I was about to move my things but she just approached us as if I HAD to move my things. I was nice enough to do so STILL and even apologize and she continued to smirk at my friend and I. Overall the gym is nice but I would NEVER come here again or recommend it. At one point, she left the pool half way through his swim class and never returned. In general, my boys absolutely love the water...but this group made swim lessons a terrible experience. This review is for the sales department. The facility is 5stars. I used to work for this company years ago so I know they offer day passes for purchase. I live way to far for a membership so I want to come a few times while the weather is nice to work out and use the outdoor pool. This is what I explained to the young lady in sales. I didn't get her name because over the phone she speaks very mumbled. This sales lady said..."We do not offer day passes you would need a membership that can be canceled at any time." I don't feel comfortable signing a gym contract just to come to the gym a hand full of times this summer. It's usually a pain to get out of gym contracts. I thanked the sales lady and immediately got on the lifetime fitness website when I hung up with her. Looky here... Day passes ion the website... 5 passes for $160 or 1 day for $40. I'm in!! I call lifetime back, maybe this sales lady isn't aware...I get connected to the same sales lady who's name I can't understand(because she doesn't speak clearly and mumbles). I tell her I just spoke to her and that there are in fact day passes available for her gym. She says: "Yeah but that makes no sense, because the membership is cheaper." ‍ I DO NOT WANT A MEMBERSHIP!!!! So I ask if I buy the 5 passes can I share them with my husband...Sales lady says: "No he has to purchase his own and the passes can only be used in 5 consecutive days." After the club reopened, I was very hesitant about going back but I figured I would check it out. The second time I went, three young women were congregating around one machine with no masks. I wrote to the manager and the next day a huge message board went up, right in front of the stairs about wearing the mask except when on the actual equipment!! Pre pandemic Lifetime was a pretty amazing gym. Post pandemic Lifetime lacks a lot of what made this place a great place to work out. So hear me out. The price of the gym is hefty but if you factor in things that you pay it can be worth it, right? Well here is where the disappointment lies with the gym. Before there were amenities such as a sauna, jacuzzis, eucalyptus steam room, shampoos, conditioners, lotion, feminine products, water fountains, decent hours for kid's academy and the gym was open 24 hours. NONE of what I listed are available for the patrons of the gym BUT the price to be a lifetime member is still the same. So if you think about it, you are OVERPAYING for a few treadmills, towels made out of cheap materials and shinny floors because there is nothing that really differentiates Lifetime from LA Fitness and Xsport night now. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Management will use the pandemic excuse however, I have to say that covid has nothing to do with it. If they really cared they would enforce the mask wearing in the second floor. Honestly, if the IDPH would come, they would shut this place down. Lifetime has fancy thermometers in the first floor but that defeats the purpose if staff don't care whether you wear your mask while roaming around the gym. You won't feel safe here if covid is a concern for you. If you are considering joining Lifetime, I would strongly urge you to either go elsewhere or come after the pandemic is over to really see your money's worth. read more

POOL REVIEW Summertime and who wants to stay cool in the pool? My kids want to stay cool. Although the weather has only dished out a handful of 80 + degree temperature days this is where we hang out. With a majority of the outdoor pool at 3 feet and 0 inches this makes it easier for the vertically challenged to navigate and keep head above water. The rest of the pool is 4 feet and some odd inches but is roped from the lap pool and the area for the slide. The rule at the pool stands if your kid can not swim 25 feet (they have to test out and wear a life time issued wrist band). If your kid can not swim the required 25 feet then you the parent must stay within 10 feet of your child. I applaud this rule and have seen stricter enforcement this season from last year. So even if your kid is wearing a life jacket, you should be within 10 feet. If your kid has an older sibling wearing a bracelet swim pass, you should be within 10 feet. If you want to sit out and not get wet while your kid splashes in the water, you should be within 10 feet. The scenarios that play out at the swimming pool could make for an entertaining reality television show. Some parents either just do not know or maybe do not care. I would hope the former in some cases and then in some cases when the same parent has to be told more than once I tend to think they may have issues taking advice from authority. All the rules are for the safety of everyone. Follow them. Lifeguards are not babysitters. Get these in your head and you and the family will have a wonderful Summer. Stay Cool! read more

Upgrading to 5 stars. ---------- I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews saying that this gym is dirty. Life Time is a beautiful, modern, family friendly, and super clean gym. It has just about everything you want in a gym and more: State of the art equipment, a huge variety of fitness classes, great childcare, a wide range of classes and activities for the little ones, huge indoor and outdoor pools, clean showers and locker rooms, basketball courts, a spin studio, a hot yoga studio, steam rooms, climbing walls, a nice cafe, a full service salon/spa.... and the list goes on. They also offer family membership; additional family members pay slightly lower fees than the first member. Although their fees are higher than the fees at most gyms, this place has so much more to offer. And the fees at LifeTime are a bargain compared to those charges by boutique exercise studios. So overall, the fees are pretty reasonable if you come often and utilize everything the gym has to offer. What I don't love about this gym is that it can get super crowded. Finding parking can be a huge nightmare if you come during busy hours. The fitness classes I have tried so far are also not especially impressive. They are much better than the classes at most gyms, but are not as good as the classes at boutique workout studios. Overall, a fantastic gym. I couldn't get to the gym because I was on a medical injury and, therefore, was instructed to send a letter through snail mail (a PDF'ed signature would not be accepted - It needed to be pen to paper). I sent the letter and Lifetime then claimed I had to send it certified so I had proof I sent it. WTF. Lifetime Fitness in skokie, il is NOT worth the $89 a month. It doesnt seem like an onyx lifetime gym. I've been to the romeoville, il location and its just as big with just as much equipment and its only $60 a month. pros: +HUGE FACILITY! +very cleanly +bigger towels for shower use +small towels for gym use +always a cardio machine available whether its a stair stepper, eliptical, or tread mill +a gym equipped with cable machines and weights +fully stocked locker room with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, cheap razors, tampons, cotton swabs, a leather couch, and a tv LOL +different activities available to children for an additional cheap cost - i believe karate lessons and/or swimming lessons +extensive swimming area equipped with slides! cons: -its pretty pricey -parking lot is difficult to get in and out of -steam room doesn't have the menthol smell that romeoville location has -although there are lots of equipment available, you can find this at a more affordable gym ---- nothing out of the ordinary -classes are lead by some instructors who don't have rhythm :( no names mentioned... -although this is an onyx lifetime fitness gym, its the same size as the regular lifetime fitness gym in romeoville I would only purchase a membership if I had children because they would get some karate or swimming lessons! They'd enjoy the pool slides etc etc. Lifetime is a gym that has a lot of bells and whistles, and a gym that is geared toward families. Recently, this location had a renovation in late 2013 and installed new cardio equipment for all of us mice on the spinning wheel. The new equipment has individual monitors which allow you to watch tv, add your ipod playlist, or heart rate monitor. The lap pool also looks cleaner, perhaps maybe a fresh coat of paint or something. And the weights area has been updated with new machines for any circuit training and the layout of the free weight area has also been updated. As for the crowds, parking is such a hassle at peak times in the morning and after work between 5 - 7, and don't forget during the holidays: when everyone and their long lost uncle comes in for a workout. Inside, just like almost all other gyms, you'll find the occasional meathead, set of bro lifters, the fratty chatty kathy's, and the like, but if you come in with your goals and routine, the environment is friendly and everyone keeps to their workout without too much bother. I've been reading a lot of less than stellar reviews for this particular location. I think because of its location, it's reached a critical mass of members and a tipping point of providing value and service without being constantly packed all the time. Granted, membership rates may be a little steep, but if you prioritize the need for a particular level club and the access it provides to gyms all over the country there's no need to complain. Otherwise, if you're a one gym type of person or family, I would agree that $100+ per month is a steep price to pay for a Globogym. But as I've reviewed other LT's, I've come to the conclusion that the membership fee, while higher than most, is an investment that provides me access to facilities in major cities when traveling and with the frequency of my workouts. read more

I'm a fan of it here. Word of warning, I do work here, but I was a paying member prior to being employed. 24 hour gym, yeah how many times do you want to lift weights at 3 in the morning? Well, I do it bleeds off stress and especially if I miss working out because I'm hanging out with people it's great to be able to come in work out and then leave. The great things about this place have been mentioned: Pools/hot tubs-always open a great alternative to weights or treadmill running A lot of machines that you never have to wait Shower/Locker rooms-are always stocked with full size towels and no need to bring your own lock and key. I've never had a problem with theft here-even though they did put up notices saying there have been a rash of thefts. Now here are the bad things: No track-with a place this big I would think a running track would be one of the things included. If they got rid of the open atrium/vestibule to make a track I'd be in heaven. They took down the heavy bag-they only had one and now it's gone. No one knows when or even if it will come back The price-I no longer have to deal with it (part of the reason why I chose to work here.) The dues were pretty pricey when I joined a few years ago but from what I heard it's only gone up. If they did more to expand I would understand but it's stayed relatively the same. Other people-this seems pretty petty but really a lot of these guys just seem to stay in the locker room, engage in loud personal conversations and never even work out. That's largely dependent on time though, if you avoid rush periods (after work, afternoons on weekends) it's not too bad. We signed up for this gym six months ago when we moved to the suburbs and have been continuously disappointed. If you have kids younger than 12 years old, you are better off going to a different gym. The latest in the string of disappointments is their change in pool policy. Since February 1, kids younger than 12 are not allowed in the open swim pool over the weekend unless they are taking swim classes. I asked the pool director why they started the policy and he told me that there was a lot of demand from adults who wanted to exercise in the pool. Not swim but exercise (e.g., walk)! For adults who would like to swim, they already have several lap lanes available. I told him that I have been coming to the pool every weekend for the last six months and there are always several families with kids who use the open swim pool but never have I seen a single soul who is WALKING in the water. I asked him to show me these requests from people who would like to WALK in the pool or data around the usage of the pool by people who would like to WALK in the pool. Of course he refused. It is one thing to change the policy but it is another thing to be untruthful to justify it. Clearly the policy is intended to drive more families to sign up for classes over the weekends. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth when someone is looking you in the eye and lying to you. read more

This club and their sister club in Vernon Hills are equal distance from my home, so I switch between them. The VH club is nicer, but overall, the Old Orchard facility is very nice in its own right. They're in the process of modernizing the treadmills here at Old Orchard...adding individual TV monitors, but the equipment that's there now is pretty good. Locker room is clean and there are LOTS of towels to use. The showers are equipped with body soap, shampoo, and hair conditioner, but I prefer to use my own anyway. Old Orchard has a dry sauna in the locker room, as opposed to the steam sauna at VH. Old Orchard has shower curtains, VH has doors on the shower stalls. Lifetime has several personal trainers on staff and wide variety of classes and times on the schedule. Parking can be a hassle, especially before 10:00 am. The parking at the Vernon Hills club is MUCH more convenient. I'm happy I became a member at Lifetime. The facilities and staff are so nice, it's added incentive to make exercise and training a good experience and motivates me to work out often. read more

As a basic facility it's nice, however the customer service is abysmal- most of the people in charge of membership and billing could care less about retaining your membership or actual health. For what they charge every month this place should be sparkling. Over the past year I have noticed the following: The indoor pool area over the summer often had problems with ants and trash on the deck, at least one hot tub is always down, under heated or smells off. I have also brought up issues with equipment being down, and ice outside on the side walks being a safety hazard (not salted or shoveled) and have never seen a resolution or apology. Also with the exception of a few instructors- the swim lessons here are a joke. I have seen many a lesson where the instructors pay more attention to each other than the kids or the kids get no active feedback or worse incorrect feedback. On that note I also have seen team practices where the coach has let a swim team member openly mock elderly people doing water aerobics in the other pool rather than make sure that kid was prepared for a meet. There are some people here who truly care about what they do, and strive to make this place great, but unfortunately they are so few and far in between I am no longer sure it is worth going to this overcrowded facility especially with the recent price increase. read more

The only redeeming quality of this place is the childcare center which my daughter absolutely loves! Besides that, it's hard to find good things to say about this place. For costing as much as it does and for as many people as they seem to have working there (only one of whom I ever see doing any real work, and I'm sure to thank her every time I see her) this place is always a mess. Kleenex and paper towels every where, coffee cups whom most the time are left behind by the 'trainers', water spills all over the floors, weights every where (again, mostly from the 'trainers'), machines are in poor condition, almost every dumbbell over 60lbs has mismatched handles, crowded, terrible parking lot...just a nightmare most days. As a former gym manager I brought my concerns to the management and was largely blown off. I brought up my concerns as well as easy solutions as I'm not one to just complain, but they just fell on deaf ears. A new manager has been brought in and I hope he sees some of the issues this facility has at hand and addresses them, as it has the potential to be a decent commercial gym, but until their employees and management make it a focus to maintain a clean facility and take care of the equipment, including purchasing new dummbells (with members paying $100+ a month there's no excuse) this will remain a one star review. read more

This place smells ok, has a huge amount of really good equipment but still some issue with people hogging machines and definitely too many people talking on their cell phones. Lifetime Fitness Old Orchard is a place where they post too many ads everywhere to upsell you training and grossly overly optimistic healthy lifestyle services. So, while it's not perfect, it's still a really good gym. But I REALLY wish they'd enforce some sort of cell phone policy, and not just post some toothless ineffective signs. It seems to be getting more crowded over the years I've been a member. I'm looking forward to the new Lifetime Fitness opening in Northbrook soon and hope the crowds die down then. read more

I have been a member since 2003 and in the early days I found great value in my membership. Over time however I have seen very little meaningful upgrade to the equipment and service at the Old Orchard location but quite a hefty increase to the monthly rates. General manager Matt Tilburg is AWOL in terms of responding to customer issues and making sure his team enforces COVID protocols such as wearing of masks or wiping down of equipment. I am currently in the hunt for another facility. Before COVID, Lifetime Old Orchard was a pricey but decent club and I found value in maintaining my membership here. The environs are spacious and there are some nice qualities like high ceilings and window views to outside daylight and to adjacent exercise rooms and pools that you don't get at other strip mall clubs. There is usually no waiting to use any of the cardio or weight equipment and I do make use of some amenities like the hot tub and outdoor pool and sporadic use of the cafe. All that said, since COVID they are like a different club. They have cut back on hours and are no longer 24/7, the rock wall is closed, the level of staffing is down and operational maintenance of certain equipment (like showers) is noticeably neglected. The issue here is not that all these features (like 24/7 hours) are must-haves; it is the fact that I was sold a membership on the promise that these features were part of my membership and now they no longer are; yet my already expensive monthly dues haven't been discounted at all. In fact, they have just been raised another ten percent! In the past seven years they have gone up 150%; sometimes raised twice in the same year, which is ridiculous. Adding to the insult is the fact that they now add their own merchant credit card fees to my monthly auto-pay bill instead of paying them themselves, like literally every other retail operation on the planet does. I have read that other Lifetime locations are more professionally run and maintained and so maybe the solution is to simply change locations. However, for the price they charge, any Lifetime branch will have a LOT to make up for to keep me from looking elsewhere. read more

We've been member many for a few years now and it seems that this club is lowering it standards. It has always been a busy club but over the past 6-12 months they have been bringing in too many new members. The club is now overcrowded, always. Facilities are starting to show wear, despite the 'upgrade' they did a few months ago. Many of the members are hanging out in machines while texting(not exercising), getting into the lap pool straight from the sauna (gross), and everyone is starting to get in each other's way. A new club needs to open along I94 and closer to city, or this club needs to downgrade itself to gold. It's just another fitness place now. Nothing special. read more

I have been a member of this Life Time Fitness Old Orchard (LTF) for over 20 years, since a few months after it opened. This Lifetime Fitness located by Westfield Old Orchard in Skokie has a primo location. It is a big facility with reportedly 108,000 square feet of gyms, exercise rooms, studios, and four swimming pools. This LTF offers many daily classes, which are included in the $149/mo membership fee, see their website. In spite of what is on offer, This particular LTF is the worst-run health club I have ever frequented. I have remained a member is this LTF as it is two miles from my house and it doesn't have any direct competition within 5 - 10 miles in any direction. This LTF probably has had 7 or 8 managers in the 20 years I have been a member, and currently doesn't even have a manager because the one they hired less than a year ago quit. The exercise equipment is never kept up. Other than to occasionally wipe it down, no one touches the machines until they break. Bikes in the spin room never receive any regular maintenance and many have clunky spots in their pedal rotation and other issues. The wood floors are rarely refinished, maybe 3 times in 20 years? The floorboards in the gyms are loose and not even repaired when they do refinish the floors. Cleaning is not up to the standards of a nice health club. There is only 1/2 of the staff there should be to clean the locker and shower rooms, which often have towels laying around and puddles of water around the sinks. I have belonged to many nice health clubs in many cities and this LTF is by far the worst. LTF did open a newer club in Northbrook a few years ago but it is 5 miles farther from my house and even more expensive. LTF Old Orchard is a dream location for the company because there is no nearby competition and the club is right off the Edens Expressway exit. This could be one of LTFs classiest and most profitable clubs. LTF by Old Orchard just built 3 dedicated pickleball courts on one of the two basketball gyms. In typical fashion, LTF painted the floor properly for the courts without first fixing the floorboards. Now the brand new pickleball courts have dead spots where the ball just dies instead of bouncing. Still, to this day, LTF hasn't bought any decent nets for their brand-new pickleball courts, really. A friend finally bought a net himself for the club so we would have at least one decent net. No one on the maintenance staff can figure out how to program the HVAC in the spin studio. It would get so hot during classes the projectors would shut down and just show a big red warning they had overheated. I have been told that the thermostats were programmed from a corporate office in another state, go figure. Recently pipes in the ceiling in the spin room burst and flooded the room. Years ago on a Sunday when the Chicago Bears were in a playoff game all the LTF TVs showed Judge Judy and nobody could change the channel because the TVs were controlled by corporate headquarters, and, because nobody was working on a Sunday, there was no way to change the channels. Talk about penny wise and dollar foolish. There is also a lot of theft at this LTF. Just in the last week, a friend left his gym bag on a bench in the locker room with plenty of people around to go relieve himself and it was gone when he came out. Another friend last week left his stainless water bottle in the gym for a few minutes and it was gone. Many people who have walked away from their lockers for a minute have lost their wallets. For months someone with a master key would go into member lockers and steal some, not all, of their money, and got away with it for many months. Most members are very nice, and part of this is the times we live in, but there is insufficient staff in the locker rooms and the club caters to some members and/or staff who are clearly thieves. Pardon me for harping, but LTF Old Orchard is such a waste of location, location, location. read more

Despite the fact it's nearly impossible to swim at lifetime old orchard, I decided to try once again. I arrived at 3.15 on a Monday to use the pool when I had a free hour. But, all the lanes were taken. I waited as long as I could before getting into the hot tub while I still had a few minutes. And out of a lane came a lifetime lifeguard! She saw me waiting, but was killing time in the pool chatting with lifetime employees before she started her shift at the leisure pool. Bye bye lifetime. After 20 years, I canceled my membership. Great club and an extremely kind and well-trained staff. The gear is generally clean and well-maintained. But man oh man, FIX THE DAMN LOCKERS!!! Three times in as many weeks I've had to have someone come with the key, acknowledging along the way, "this happens all the time..." Great. Not too pleased with having to plan an extra 10-mins into my time-tight workout to track down the custodian. Come on now: this is inexcusable for the fees we pay. Massively overcrowded club. The parking lots almost need a Disney shuttle. Locker rooms aren't kept up very well, aside from plenty of towels, and the lockers are too small, only half-height. The climbing wall is almost never open. Equipment is very good, Woodway treads for example. read more

I belong here mostly for the pool during the winter. The women's locker room is a mess. There's always hair clogging the drains in the shoer, and the dirty towel bins are never emptied. read more

I've been to this gym many times. I really like this gym, people and employees are really nice and respectful. Have never seen this location in such terrible condition. The general manager could careless about safety issues, member concerns. Cleanliness is little to none here towels everywhere, dust piles on the workout floor. Leaks in the ceiling. read more

If you want a place to go and work out it might be the place for you but very expensive you can always find a way cheaper place for 20 $ or so, if you want a place where you can play basketball, go to sauna wet or dry for 100$ a month and swim that's not gone happen at the skokie location , so don't waste your money. Why: when you want to play basketball you can't because they have all kids of programs for kids , dance classes or some other stuff, that's when you have on one terrain 30 people playing basketball hitting each other with the balls -Pool they have swimming classes so you can only use a couple of lanes -sauna always people talking loud like they are the only one there So for family gym where you can bring your kids this is not the place for 200$ a month . I went in for a trial, met with Membership Specialist Eliot. He asked why I was looking to join; told him I was looking for a gym with basketball courts. Went into the gym, pretty crowded during open gym. One side five on five, the other were kids. Waited to play and get a quick game in. Eliot is now playing. I am placed on his team, he asks the other team if this is at all fair. We get spanked, Eliot doesn't care. Somehow he talks himself and the other membership specialist into the next game regardless of fact that since we all lost, we should have to shoot for five, as two were waiting. So three of us end somehow shooting for one spot, because Eliot chose the squad he wanted. Eliot's Dream Team then loses and I have been waiting for the next game. When the game ends, Eliot yells, "Yo, let's run it back." I am forced to say to now ask why I'm not in. I feel like this is somehow middle school or something. Eliot turns to me, quite annoyed, and asks "What you wanna do about it?" Like, basically telling me this is a huge ordeal I've just created. I step in and end up playing, whatever. The members were fairly nice, it was clearly a game where most of them knew each other, I get it, the new guy in the rich suburban gym, I won't get the ball which is fine. Just wanted to play. I was just astounded that the guy who is trying to sell me a membership, and knows exactly why I am looking at the gym, then bullies me out of open gym, five on five, it's-not-that-serious basketball. Then he sees me walk out of the gym, shakes my and smiles, says "Great run." He sees another patrons and yells out a greeting. It's so fake I had to smile. I suppose I expect a certainly level of snobbiness at a gym in Skokie that costs $90 a month, but from the patrons, not the folks that try and sell memberships. read more

I was a member here for a few months recently and I just wanted to add a few comments. This gym is really nice - it is. Nice outdoor pool in the summer (I was also a member here a few years ago as well), nice indoor pool, nice hot tubs, etc. Its 24 hours and is immaculately clean. If you are confused by all of the negative reviews after going here - so was I... ...That is, until I visited Vernon Hills. Vernon Hills is the only other "onyx" level gym in the area. And well, it is a lot larger and a lot more luxurious than this location. There are more classes, much better amenities in the locker rooms (i.e. hot tubs in the locker rooms, more products for guests to use, etc). The outdoor pool is more spacious and spa-like. I see no difference between the Old Orchard location and the other "gold" level gym locations, except nearly $40/month price difference. Life Time is clearly taking advantage of the zip code here, by providing a gold level gym at an onyx level price. Not cool... read more
