My family and I have been members since 2012. I like coming here mainly because the staff and clientele are respectful and there is rarely a wait for equipment. The quality and substance of the facility is hard to beat with indoor and outdoor pools, showers hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms. Your membership will likely have diminishing returns if you do not have young children and do not use the child center. Major complaints are overcrowding at the outdoor pool and too many children in the adult locker rooms (there is a family changing room). And the wait at the cafe can be excessive at times. Cleanliness of the men's locker room has improved over the last year or so. read more

I'm in the locker room, it seems the staff either fell asleep or are blind: 1) Men's locker room ran out of towel, 2) the locker room floors are littered with water bottles and used towels from less considerate members...and it's been that way for almost an hour. WORST PLACE EVER. I'm only giving this place 1 star because that's the lowest I can go and the facility isn't bad. I actually very much enjoy all the gym equipment. However, all they care about is making money. I went in February and joined as no contract monthly. The account manager said just try it for 2 months, and if I didn't like it, I couldn't always quit afterwards. Since it's no contract, I could quit anytime. April comes, and I call them constantly about quitting and not charging me. I also send them emails regarding the same issue. They just stop responding to me and never return my calls anymore. They then charge me for NOT ONLY FOR APRIL, BUT ALSO for May. I had The credit card company block them from trying to charge my credit card and disputed the charge. I hear nothing back for a couple of weeks and then all of a sudden the facility emails me telling me I am late on payment. I go onto my credit card account statement and saw another charge from them. I called the credit card company and ask how it got through. They said that the facility CHANGED THEIR NAME for the transaction to get through. I had to call the credit card company and do the same process all over again. Seriously??? You change your name just so it would go through so you can collect your money? I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Instructor Yves Maco, 5 star, super star. No this place is NOT overrun by kids, unless, you never go to second floor to exercise. Pros: 1. Huge. 2. Kids center. 3. Great pool for kids in summer. 4. Very clean, most equipment reasonably well maintained. 5. People are generally respectful, no hogging equipment, no endless chatting in fitness areas. 6. Good cafe. Otherwise: 1. Young couples sharing shower in FAMILY CHANGING ROOM! Brought my kids there first time after three months and saw two couples going in. 2. Yoga classes are going downhill. Meh. 3. I wanted to learn how to use a machine, was looking at it trying to figure it out. One of your trainers walked right by, looked at me, then turned to talk to a woman in a skimpy outfit right in front of me as I was trying to figure it out. Another member came over and helped me. Members leave plates on the machines and just walk away. They slam machines down as your staff says nothing. Yet, all are well trained in wiping machines down on Monday's over and over, yet walk away from weights on the floor. The previous club mgr was excellent, this guy you have now is over his head. He was the fitness mgr previously and over his head there as well. I did a review over the summer and nothing changed. It's run like a glorified LA Fitness. I have only positive words regarding Lifetime Syosset and I travel there from Queens! This club has literally saved my life in the midst of this COVID-19 Pandemic. EVERYTHING IS SPOTLESS! I literally drive a half hour 5/6 days a week just to come here. I've been to a lot of gyms and this one by far exceeds them all. Their classes are amazing. Elaina's classes are honestly some of the best workout classes I've had. She teaches kick boxing, barre and crt. The entire gym is so clean. You constantly see people cleaning throughout the time that you're there. Everyone wears a mask and they enforce this at all times. Girls locker room are always kept up with. Everyone is friendly and no attitudes like other gyms I was at. My kids are enrolled with their private swim lessons. The cost was less than safety swim and 100xs better. Within two seasons my one son made huge progress. Scott is amazing (instructor) and Rylan who runs the office is a doll and so helpful. The daycare... where do I begin? The baby center is so sweet and extremely well kept. The toddler area is AMAZING. My boys love it. There's yoga with dancing and bubbles, crafts lessons, there's a huge jungle gym (off limits now but awesome) and so many workers at a time. Tons of gyms that I've been to will have 20 kids with one person. There's school stations for learning. They have days such as NYE party 1-4 drop your kid and leave INCLUDED in membership. There's so many positives and honestly no negatives that I can even think of. It's pricy and that part is rough but to me it's worth what you're getting. read more

This is the worst gym you could join. It is like a roach motel, you can check in but you can never check out!!! Sometimes they don't even let you check in if god forbid you try to use a visitor pass for a friend! Once you decide you have had enough of their BS they try to make it impossible for you to leabe. You must go in personally to cancel, no phones or email aloud. Then when you go in they tell you the person you need to see is not in. Still won't let you cancel. So then they require a letter to be deliveryby US Post Office, Done! No not yet! They do not stop billing-- so you set ip a block with the credit card company. They have a way around that! Re: Syosset Location. I love the gym for the classes and kids club. However, for a family of 5 we are paying over $550 per month and rates are due to increase again! Our guests are not allowed to use the outdoor pool unless they pay $80 per adult and $40 per child which is ridiculous considering it's one guest pass per person per 60 days so why can't they use the outdoor pool? Almost DAILY the outdoor pool is closed for an hour due to a child pooping in there. For the amount of money this gym makes, why not create a separate pool area (a partition) for children under age 5 or have an employee check that any child under age 5 is wearing a water diaper when checking membership at the door? They need to hire more cleaners and people for the front desk also. Towels and showers are often dirty. More weekend classes would be great to accommodate those who cannot join classes on the weekdays. More shaded areas are needed outdoor by the pool. Instead of increasing their rates, they need to give credit for all the inconveniences. Truly a disappointment when nothing is being done to resolve any issues. read more

DO NOT JOIN LIFETIME ATHLETIC. Gym is DIRTY but beware of their cancellation policy - that is a scam. I thought that my contract was month to month and that if I stopped paying my membership would be cancelled - think again. When you sign up they don't give you the impression that you are locked into a contract - I just received an email that said I have a $371.00 balance. Know that your membership contract states (in the fine print) that your membership renews every month AUTOMATICALLY and you will accumulate balances unless you send them a certified letter cancelling your membership. Really - a certified letter - what's wrong with email? WHEN I PUSHED THEM - THEY SAID THAT I COULD CANCEL ON LINE ONCE I PAID THE BALANCE - OH AND IT WOULD TAKE 30 DAYS!! One of the Worst experiences of my life ... for a gym that considers themselves as an upper class facility they need to hire people who are a bit more professional. We were invited to a birthday party in the pool area. I arrived 15 min early with my 2 daughters and the women at the front desk snapped at me at the fact that we were early. I informed her it was my niece and my sister was in the back. Once I informed her of that her whole demeanor changed... nicely allowing me to contact my sister and head to the back. My first thought was "what a way to great someone that can be a potential client". While waiting for my sister to come get me I asked if there was someone I can speak to regarding memberships. Once again with a smirk as if she was above me in some way working behind a gyms desk says "ummm we don't just give that information, you need to speak to an advisor about that" and walked away from me. At this point my wanting to even to be a member there went right out the window. I finally get to the pool area and it's nothing more than a town pool. Actually certain pools I've been to have been way nicer. The family dressing room you need to walk thru to get there were disgusting and so were the bathrooms near the pool. My kids were super excited to see there was a water slide that went into the pool. I asked the people who were running the birthday party if there were any restriction to go on the slide and the 4 of them all stated the same thing " as long as they pass a swim test, they can go on the slide" So I went ahead and had my 5.5 year old take the test and she passed. Once my 4 year old saw her sister on the slide she wanted to take the test as well. At the inside pool where the swim tests we're being held, the 17 year old life guard kicked off his sandals seeming annoyed that my daughter wanted to take the swim test stating "I have a feeling I am going to have to save this one" Once again she passed and was super excited she can go the the slide as well! They patiently waited on line to finally get to the top to have my 4 year old get turn away because she just reached the supposed height requirement that was NEVER mentioned. I spoke to the girls throwing the party and they still were telling me all she needed to do was pass the swim test which she did. Finally getting my screaming child off the staircase to the slide they took a break for safety time ... whatever that may be. The slide opened back up after 15 min and my daughter wanted to try again so up she went. Trying to go up and see what they meant by her being too small the life guard blocked me half way up the stairs and said I couldn't go there with her. I asked her to let me pass so I can see how much shorter she was and she started calling over with a walking talkie " I'm barging thru her" The "aquatics manager" who was the 5th most unprofessional and rude person came over as if he once again was better than anything or anyone stating if I did not get down he was going to have me escorted from the property. So at that point I made my way thru and let my child go down the slide which she rightfully earned the right to do so since all she needed was the swim test THAT SHE PASSED and they refused to let me see her height for myself. I was not escorted out because Mr or shall I say Mr that spoke like a Mrs was all talk no bite. We finished out the party just allowing my children to swim in the pool and left. I could not wait to get out of their ... All that being said I will never step foot in that place ever again ! For that amount of money all should be on the same level as far as rules go and there should be more professional people taking care of these clients and their guests that are spending hundreds of dollars a month to be members of a shit hole just to say they are . The parking lot was ample, the access was excellent, the place "looked" absolutely BEAUTIFUL ! But the staff - thereof was impressive! Was considering although after that amazing experience I can imagine being a member. Ill never forget the way I was made to feel. Like I was in a concierge center, I was made to feel welcome as an overweight person, and while there are those in the groups. you'll not feel intimidated by the environment. Have a family? bring them to this ACTIVE ALIVE Theme park environment there are sooooo many kids everywhere. The POOL inside and out were loaded like a local camp. Your family will LOVE this. Various prices have been posted here on yelp but based on my last visit the prices currently are $159/single and $369/family. I think the gym makes the most sense for families but is it worth $4,428 for the year? Based on my 1-week trial, I'd say no. Why? Because crowd. The place is packed. The classes were so packed on my visit on the weekend, there's barely any room for anyone to move and this is the case for the adult classes and the kids and this is just February. According to their staff a flood of families join in the summer for use of the outdoor pool and waterslide, which made me wonder if they should simply turn people away at this point which I knew they wouldn't do. I didn't like the relatively small space dedicated to free weights with a majority of the 2nd floor committed to cardio and weight machines. There are several things I did like here, i.e. the large and multiple pools, class options, kids programs, and the rock climbing wall. But for $4,428 a year you could separately purchase another local gym membership for $20/month, enroll the kids in a real Taekwondo program (e.g. Master Choi in Bethpage), buy season's pass to rock climbing at Island Rock, and with the money left over you could buy tickets to water parks of your choosing. Yes, it's worth a premium to have it all under one roof but not if it's a packed zoo. read more

The other gym members have ruined this gym because they throw towels all over and expect people to clean up after them. After one of the Turbo Jam classes, the ladies pile out and throw towels all over the core workout area. The showers frequently smell like poo because it turns out that, in some cultures, people do that in the shower and stomp it down the drain and stink up the shower line. The locker room attendant told me she has to constantly put a special product down the shower drain to deal with it all (so management is well aware of the issue). Then the poo-petrators walk all over the locker room, pool area and gym with the same flip flops that they stomped poo into the drain with. I get nauseous even thinking about that. There really isn't anything the management can do to fix the problem because you cannot put a camera in the shower area to see who is doing that. I decided that it was interfering with the enjoyment of my gym and ended up canceling my membership. It is a shame that the bad apple members ruined this gym for me. I thought long and hard about quitting, and I just decided that there wasn't another solution as you cannot catch people doing "that." read more

Yes, it's expensive. You know that when you sign up. If you're unwilling to pay it, you're likely to complain and be upset. But I can't even imagine not being a member. It's worth it just for the pool in the summer; literally feels like the place to be, multiple times a week. It's wonderful just to have somewhere to GO. Saturday night, or a Sunday with no plans, it's awesome to just be able to head out for an hour and do something. The guest pass program is ridiculous; rules are sooo stringent on when exactly you can bring a guest. It's irritating, because you're paying so much and are entitled to guess passes, but they make it so hard. Even when you do manage to bring a guest, you can't bring them again for six more months (!!). I also don't like how they call the guests afterwards and ask if they're interested now in joining. It doesn't feel like a legitimate guest pass program; more of a trial day at the gym, which isn't what it is. Also, I am 1000% positive that in the beginning they assured us our price would never go up and we were locked in no matter what extra things they added. That has NOT been true. However, if you utilize all that the facility can offer, it can be very beneficial to you. having kids, i put my kids in camp there. going to an outside camp you can spend more than 7000 per kid for 2 months. here, its only $350/week! if you take swimming lessons outside, its more than $100 / month. inside here you can take lessons for only $50/month (and the group lessons are typically 4 kids) if you take martial arts classes outside, you can spend over 125/month. inside it is subsidized and you will only spend $50/month the locker rooms are always clean, never need a lock / towel / shampoo / soap / conditioner, as that is included. they also provide hair products, shaving cream, razors, etc. Overall, the price may be high, but if you use the gym for all that is has to offer, the other activities will offset the costs and it'd be the same as if you put all those activities together on the outside. Came last week and the person at the counter was extremely rude, which was particularly disturbing given it was my first time there after signing up for a membership. Even those with a free pass are indicated on the website as being given a guided tour by a staff member. However, the worker didn't even show me around the place despite there being multiple workers at the counter, instead resorting to vague gestures to go "there" and then "there." Overall felt very unwelcomed and (throughout our barely minute-long, very rushed conversation) treated as though I was wasting her time. Interestingly, the kindest person I met during my time here was a customer who helped me find the way to where I wanted to go, which I believe says quite a bit about the professionalism of Lifetime's staff. Compared to the "high-class vibe" shown on the website, the actual place is actually much more unorganized and wholly underwhelming. Maybe it was just that I expected too much? We asked a question at the desk and neither girl knew so they referred to another desk where they didn't know either, uhh thanks for your help? The arc trainer machine I was using sounded like it was going to break while I was on it and it seemed like the heat was on because it was extremely hot in there. I've been a member since this place opened back in 2012. I have very mixed feelings about the place. On the one hand, the facility is huge, with every permutation of machine and every class you could ever imagine, but the staff is indifferent at best The classes that are included in your hefty monthly membership fee are scheduled at odd times, especially if you work a normal schedule.They also have a strange rule that no kids under 12 are allowed in any hot-tub, which kind of pisses me off. There are two tubs inside and one outside, why not designate 1 for kids? As for kids, they are all over the place, but 3 of them are mine so I can't really complain I will say that the child-care center is wonderful and the people there quite caring. I used it a lot more when my son was very small and even now when we go he asks to be dropped off to play. The other night I brought my 83 year-old father as a guest to splash around in the outside pool with his two grandsons. I was rather surprised when a "Member Engagement Advisor" by the name of Steve Samet took him back to his office to pitch him a club membership. This didn't happen when my wife brought a guest. I asked when the outdoor pool was closinghe said 8. We arrived at 7, I figured I could get an hour in. It turned out the pool was closing at 7:30 and the staff was apparently unaware. Or so Steve said. I have my doubts about whether he knew the real time. By the time I got my father out of Steve's office it was 7:15 so he had all of 15 minutes to swim. I do not think it is fair that he cannot come back for 60 days. I'm asking the club that he be allowed another visit before the end of the summer. I was also pretty ticked off that Steve thought he could get a sale from a 83 year old man who was clearly disinterested, and had no problem wasting his time, and my time, as I stood there with a stroller and 2 kids outside his office. The experience reflected poorly on the organization and I expect better treatment for my membership dollars. I understand they are running a business, but the sales staff should be taught to exercise discretion before pitching everyone with a pulse that walks in the door, especially when the club is so crowded to begin with. They also have trouble maintaining the towel stock, and a 15 minute break every hour at the outside pool is unnecessary. I think I'll probably cancel after pool season; the hassles aren't worth the money. Update 2018: After being a member since this place opened, my kids were very excited that they were finally reaching the age when they could go in the hot tub, as it is restricted to ages 12 and over for some unsupportable and arbitrary reason. When we got there two weeks ago, I was told that they changed the age from 12 to 16. If you have kids, they won't be allowed in the hot tub. Which means, practically speaking, that you won't either. They also have been arbitrarily changing the guest policy on no notice, which makes it difficult to plan bringing kids friends. Not impressed. For the money you can do a lot better. read more

Very energetic aura around the place! Going here since a long time now! Great experience!

I've been going to this club for over 5 years now and things have really been going downhill. We'll start with the workout floor. You have to usually wait during the busy time for a machine because the young adults are to busy watching Tik Tok in between sets and take forever to finish. Now to the hot tubs. I've been there multiple times where someone forgot their bathing suit and thought it was perfectly okay to wear their underwear in the tub. Now to the mens locker room. I used to look forward to my shower after a workout but now I don't. The shampoo, shower and conditioner (if there is even any in the container) has used to be great but now it seems like they are using some cheap stuff out of a 5 gallon pail. And the floors outside of the shower is always slimy. Over by the lockers you need to stop the old guys from blowdrying their balls. One foot up on the counter and everything!!! And that is probably why the counters are always filthy. Maybe whomever is cleaning can move the bottles too when they clean them!!! For the amount of money we pay its unacceptable....Hope things get better.... read more
