This location's entire staff is female. I've been under their care through two pregnancies and deliveries and for regular ob visits (breast exam, pap smear, etc.). While I typically see the same doctor for routine check-ups, I saw all doctors and a nurse/midwife during my pregnancies so that I became familiar with whomever was on duty at the hospital (Overlook in Summit, NJ) on my random delivery days. They all have great bedside manner, some almost motherly. Most of my wait times have been under 10 minutes with one fluke of almost an hour. For prenatal check-ups, they always collect a urine sample at the beginning of each visit to test for infections and sugar and protein levels among other things. Through labor and delivery, they're really motivational and caring, and for my second, they actually gave me the chance to pull her out the rest of the way onto my chest. I wouldn't choose any other team for routine care and these major life moments. read more

Nearly impossible to reach. Every time I call during business hours, the office is closed early or they are on an hour and a half lunch break. Website is not user friendly. I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I received from Lifeline Medical Associates. As an existing patient, I expected at least basic courtesy and responsiveness, especially after leaving a voicemail on Saturday regarding an important concern. Instead, I spent all of yesterday calling their office -- fifteen times -- during business hours, only to be repeatedly ignored, placed on hold for long stretches, and even hung up on. There was absolutely no reason for my calls to be brushed off like that. The lack of care, communication, and professionalism created an unnecessarily stressful situation, one that no patient should ever have to experience. Because of this, I had no choice but to schedule with another practice first thing this morning. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and urgency, especially when they've entrusted a practice with their health. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. Tried this practice after my former Ob/Gyn retired, went for annual exam. Definitely felt like just a number here. It was the most rushed, least thorough exam I've ever had. Breast exam took about 30 seconds. No pelvic exam at all. Dr. seemed more interested in talking about her kids' private school. No follow up call on mammogram. Thank goodness I'm healthy. Wouldn't trust this place ONE BIT if I had a health crisis. Will never go back. read more

The doctors were nice but I feel like I could have been explained the risks of a c-section better. I felt I was 'oversold' on how easy a c-section was vs vaginal birth, and my experience was pretty tough.. It took 12 weeks for my c-section wound to close, I had a really tough time taking care of my toddler as I was not supposed to lift him till my wound healed. I feel the after op care could have been better. There was no follow up from the clinic, I had to almost push them to see me and understand why I havent still healed. Ultimately I had to go to a wound care specialist to seek treatment. read more

Let me start by saying that I do feel a bit bad for this negative review because most of the doctors & staff were quite nice to me...but nice doesn't mean competent. I knew that I wasn't happy with them after the first 2 visits & left in tears missing my previous OB after the second. I seriously considered going back to my OB in NYC despite the long drive. However, I moved mid pregnancy and decided to stick with them since they delivered at Overlook (which was a great delivery experience!) which was super close to me. Overall, the doctors were fairly rushed through my appointments, not detail oriented, and the practice felt disorganized. They are not tech forward and seemed to only listen to the baby's heartbeat & feel my belly. Their lack of attention to detail left me second guessing whether both the baby & I were actually healthy (I had some issues starting at 35 weeks). Because of this I would not recommend this practice to nervous first time mothers or high risk pregnancy. If you aren't any of these, the staff was nice and I never waited a long time for an appointment, likely because doctors rushed people through. Some examples of issues I had with the practice to help illustrate: 1. Charged me for a c-section when I delivered vaginally 2. Missed some of the tests they'd done when sharing results with the hospital when I delivered. The hospital needed to retake bloodwork for both me & the baby before discharging us. 3. Didn't have results for my 20 week anatomy scan in my follow up phone appointment where we were supposed to discuss results. I messaged twice in the portal after that to follow up and waited a month for my next visit with no answer. During my next visit, the doctor I saw had no idea about the results (they rotate doctors so you meet anyone who might deliver). I needed to page the original doctor I tried to message to get & discuss the actual results. 4. At 38 weeks I got a voicemail at 8PM on Thursday from a doctor saying test results were in & they were calling to discuss. My response: Panic! Why 8PM? Is something wrong?! The doctor never called back and I had to call the office 3 times Friday and finally paged the oncall because they closed to get an answer. 5. Although I kept telling all doctors that I had a very fast labor with my first child & to be prepared at each appointment, the oncall doctor who delivered was still surprised and I suspect didn't look at my file, if it was even noted there. If I listened to her advice on waiting to go to hospital, I would have delivered at home. As it was, we weren't sure she was going to show up in time to catch the baby. 6. This may be a difference between NJ and NY, but essentially all the doctors did was feel by belly and listen to the baby's heartbeat with a device that looked 10 years old. No notes were taken on size or size changes to monitor growth as far as I could tell and there were no laptops or any technology in the room for tracking. Contrast that to my previous OB who measured each time with a sonogram (not radiology accurate) entered it into my file, and tracked over time. While sonograms with each visit are not standard, I just didn't feel like Lifeline was tracking anything about my health or the baby's growth/health closely. They were also inflexible & very dismissive about letting me get one more sonogram after 25 weeks, although I kept asking about getting another since 1) I'd had complications in earlier pregnancies & 2) the ultrasound showed the baby was very large and I was nervous about going into labor without knowing I was carrying a 10 lb baby (fortunately he came 2 weeks early at 8 lbs). 7. Gave me a urine sample cup with someone else's name on it. No biggie, but does not instill confidence in their process. 8. Doctors were fairly dismissive about my concerns about my suddenly spiking blood pressure at end of pregnancy & after delivery. read more

Most inadequate team of professionals on the face of medical history. Office is completely understaffed and there are not enough doctors to service the demand capacity. The staff never returns calls and will let your script lapse due to miscommunication or lack thereof between doctors and refill staff. So I hope this review helps them review their operations and process flow. They have a lot to learn about organizational management. But here is an example and a true story. One month ago, I spent close to four hours on the phone on behalf of my wife calling their hotline. Their office manager never picks up her line or responds to messages which is option 3. But I was bounced between reception and the refill script desk hotline trying to resolve a problem. Finally after a week and some 20 calls later and they not returning my messages as I was calling from my job on behalf of my wife I blew up at the receptionist and they finally passed me to a live person in refill who was not responding to my phone calls or calling my wife. She tells me her side of things and that she will give my wife a courtesy refill with the promise that she will track down the doctor asap to see if my wife needs to go in for a physical or not that week. My wife gets her script. A month passes and ZERO follow up. Her script runs out and this time we both end up calling and phoning for 8 days straight. The receptionist had the nerve to lie to me and say that if I left a message that the refill people will get back to me within 24 hours. 72 hours lapse and nothing. I finally blow up again and this time my wife gets a call and a refill and ask that I never call back again since they hate men. They literally loathe men especially one of the doctors. I call them out of concern for my wife at her request because these doctors and their poor staff opt not to respond to a patient's needs after 8 days and I blow up at them because of their unprofessional attitudes and I get loop holed into the a-hole man category. Such a joke these people. The doctors are wonderful IF you can wait the two months to get an appointment. Also do note that my wife will probably not ever go back there again. The doctors while knowledgable will say very off color things out of their "experience" such as making my wife uncomfortable asking such things without provocation if I am cheating on her or abusing her and that men "often" don't understand female afflictions. These are dreadful presumptions as at my wife's request I schedule all of her doctor's appointments and remain involved in her life's routines taking into consideration that she cannot make private calls such as these in her place of employment whereas I can. The staff is rude because clients get frustrated at how crappy their service is from refills to appointment setting. It isn't their fault (possibly, I would blame the office manager fo sucking and not knowing how to organize process flow) there needs to be an office manager with an organizational pysch background who has the guts to fix the process stream at this facility, hire more doctors. It could be the best OB/Gyn in the area if they could fix all of their issues. read more

I will never return to this practice. Years ago, they were friendly, fast, and helpful. Now it seems like the practice has grown and they just can't handle all the patients. The office staff is rude and unwelcoming. The doctors are rushed and cold. The billing department hasn't returned my call in weeks. At my last appointment in Feb. 2011, I was brought into the examination room and then waited for a long time. The doctor came in, barely said hello, and rushed through my examination. She asked if I would like the Gardasil vaccination and seemed annoyed when I was unsure due to my longtime fear of injections. She told me to think about it and left the room. Then she never returned. I had to go out to the office and flag down a nurse to tell her I want the vaccine. Luckily the two nurses that helped me were very understanding of my fear and helped me through the anxiety to get the vaccine. The doctor did not even check on me even though she knew I was very anxious. Next I waited for a while in the examination room, but the doctor never returned. I still had many questions about switching to a new birth control and no one told me when I needed to return for the second Gardasil shot. I went out to the waiting room in hopes of finding someone to help me, but EVERYONE was sitting around a large table eating lunch in perfect view from the waiting room. There was not a single person at the front desk and no one got up from the lunch table even when I stood and waited at the desk. I decided to leave the office and call to ask my questions later. When I called, I could not get my doctor on the phone and had to speak with a nurse. Since no one ever told me about the second round of Gardasil and I was not sent a reminder, I need to start the series over again. The doctor has never followed up about my switch to a new birth control. Every time I call, I have to wait through the VERY long and slow automated system. Once I hear the options (press 1 for appointments, etc.), it doesn't give me a chance to press a number--it immediately transfers me to the main reception. Every time I get a person on the phone, they sound like they're having the worst day ever. I rarely even get a person's first name. It is now 6 months after my appointment and I received a bill in the mail with absolutely no information other than "you owe us $28." I called the billing office in Parsippany three times and left messages, but never received a call back. Today I called the main office in Springfield, left a message, and received a call back from the practice administrator. She attempted to explain the bill which is related to my visit SIX MONTHS AGO. When I asked why I had not seen this bill in February, she tried to find information in the computer and said "I really don't understand what these notes mean." She then told me that the Parsippany billing office closes at 3pm, but she will try to find out what's going on tomorrow. The bill is related to my Gardasil shot, which is now useless since I was unaware of the second round of the series. The prescription refill message says they require 5 business days to fulfill the request. Then it says "Please be advised, no messages are to be left after 4pm. Please call back the following business day." Well what is the answering machine for then??? I have never been so appalled by a doctor's services. Even after voicing my concerns to the practice administrator, nothing has changed and I continue to have a horrible experience overall. I will never return to this practice and I highly warn anyone against going there. read more

This is the worst medical "care" i ever had, staff is incompetent and unprofessional, i am pregnant and i made the mistake of going to them, they didn't do any work, they sent me to another lab to confirm i was pregnant wich I had to pay, i don't know if they didn't have the necessary equipment or they are just lazy but they did demand payment, now they won't release my records to the new care giver i am seeing unless i fill a form and pay for it of course, unbelievable! read more

I have been a patient in this practice for 13years, and loved Dr. Magaril. I'm pregnant with my first child and after my first prenatal visit, I left traumatized and crying, have found a new Doctor that didn't treat me like just another pregnant dog in a puppy mill. When I made my initial appointment I asked to see my regular doctor but was told that wouldn't be possible and that I'd be seeing the Mid-Wife. I'm totally progressive and figured she's probably delivered as many babies or more. When she walked in to introduce herself she said "so this is your third?" I corrected her by informing her it was my first. Strike one My husband and I asked some questions about vitamins and general nutrition as neither of us has gone through this process before. She asked where to schedule our ultrasound, we told her the place and time that would best work for us because he works nights. She returned to inform us we were scheduled at the opposite place of where we had just discussed and said "well you can reschedule it." Strike two I have been a yoga teacher for eight almost nine years, and have a personal physical practice for 14. I teach a variety of styles ranging from Hot power to Prenatal, and I have done quite a bit of research regarding the effects of temperature on the body as well as a developing fetus due to my profession and many encounters with pregnant women who have tried to keep their practice going as their bodies change. Upon the discussion of keeping active I was told to get a new job. Strike three I found this to be very alarming and when I asked why, the reasonings were nonsensical, that I'd be voluntarily giving myself a fever. This women didn't even try to understand that historically my body is acclimated to varying temperatures and physical stress. I was obviously too sick at this point to keep my hot practice but the lack of understanding, after countless studies have been conducted by universities, and the straight lack of compassion to even listen to the patient was very off putting. Finally when I went into the phlebotomy chair to have my blood drawn for the standard tests, the assistant was new and upon removal of the needle stained my clothing and the chair with my blood. When I walked to the front desk, absolutely mystified, to make my "follow-up" visit I asked to be scheduled with my doctor because I had some questions and felt more comfortable seeing the person that I have a relationship with. I was told that this would not be possible and would have to wait until my second trimester. Needless to say, I left in tears and never returned even though the office has been scheduling me appointments that I have not asked for and have had to cancel because if you're a no show THEY CHARGE YOU. I found a new doctor where every experience since has been 100% fantastic. read more

I just went go Lifeline medical group for a prenatal check up for my fourth baby. I was very pleased to see how nice the staff was, and I was very quickly attended. And I was happy to see everything clean. I loved the midwife that attended me through my check up. she was patient and understanding that I was nervous. She was very thorough in explaining the process of everything that would be taking place in the following check ups. I will be definitely returning and would recommend to others. read more

Dr.Magaril , is great. But that's all about it. And 8 times out of ten you need to deal with the staff. Inefficient is the word, there is no use making an appointment. I made an appointment at 10.15 and wait for 45 minutes. I went in only at 11.00 . It took them one week to give me simple blood result, and the result I got on Friday was that we were not able to run the test coz they didn't draw enough blood. I had to go thought this vicious cycle all over again !! Oh the horror! The staff treats you like they are doing a favor and do not know how to answer basic questions nor have the patience to listen to your question in the first place. Just a good doctor is not good enough, you need a capable staff. And this place doesn't. I would not recommend this unless you have scheduled the whole day for a doctor appointment and the following whole week to call and ask for your results and still not get them. read more

Dr. Magaril is a wonderful OB/GYN. She's professional without being too clinical. Highly recommended.

I became a patient when I was newly pregnant, and am also seeing them for my second pregnancy. I recommend them. They rotate patients among the doctors and the nurse midwife, so that you get to know anyone who might be on call when you deliver. I especially like Dr. Hunt and Dr. Lublin but all of the staff are competent and pleasant. They provide plenty of information and ask if I have questions rather than rushing out the door to get to the next patient. When I went into labor on a Saturday with my first baby, on-call response time was quick (under 10 minutes both times I used the answering service, and probably under 5). I ended up needing a c-section and my surgery was smooth, recovery was quick, and my scar is neat. I don't have trouble scheduling appointments at convenient times, which is important because I travel a lot for work. The office is usually on time, better than most, although once I did wait a long time once and ended up needing to come back as I needed a blood draw for my glucose test and by the time they saw me the blood draws were finished for the day. That has been the only mishap. read more

I usually do not post reviews but happened to see an inordinate number of negative reviews about this group. My experience was just the opposite. Last summer (July 2017) my apparent good health changed overnight with some CAT scan results that needed multiple tests/procedures including one at the gyno. When I needed their staff, they were there. Scheduled everything, explained everything. They were very professional - answered all questions - did follow-up. I trust Dr. Magril and thought the office manager was also on top of things. My sense is that Dr. Magril will take these negative comments seriously as she endeavors to have a professional staff. During my last routine visit, she did ask about potential abusive relationship and although I found it odd at the time, in thinking about it, it's my opinion that there are many women who would appreciate the opportunity to open up. I don't take from that, that the staff are men haters and think that is a leap by one of the negative reviewers. Over the years I have been called twice to reschedule due to delivery issues. I was glad to be given the option to wait or reschedule - most doctors' offices assume your time is not valuable. Anyway, yes, the support staff could be better, but I take that as the nature of the beast. read more

I rarely write reviews but I am leaving this practice and this is why: I came to this practice as my first gynecology experience when I was around 17-18 years old. I saw Dr. Magaril for my first time (my mother sees her so she recommended her) and she was very kind, understanding. I went back the next year for my routine physical and since I had made this appointment very far in advance, I did not realize I would be on my period. I told the nurse I was on my period and she said that was fine. I'm waiting in the examination room and the doctor comes in saying we have to reschedule since I'm on my period. I don't know why the nurse wasted both our times but it would have been nice if she told me to reschedule instead of making me wait in a hospital gown in the room. I return after rescheduling and I am having anxiety issues with pregnancy. I have a fear of children and I make my boyfriend wear a condom every time. Dr. Magaril recommended I start on birth control, which I was hesitant about since my mother had breast cancer and there have been known complications with birth control and descendents of parents with cancer. She said the only way I would know if I had that gene is for my mother to get tested. Anyway, I got a prescription for birth control but I did not start it until nearly six months after I got the medication because I was still afraid. I had serious anxieties that caused night terrors about becoming pregnant and Dr. Magaril seemed to think birth control could completely solve it. The medication helped for awhile but after being on it for almost six months I began having annoying side effects. This is where my story with Dr. Schonfeld begins. Dr. Magaril was on vacation this year when I needed the appointment so I saw Dr. Schonfeld instead. While I was in the waiting room, my appointment was delayed for about an hour because there were "pregnant women with emergencies and they are more important than me" - this is what a receptionist told me. Dr. Schonfeld is also very nice and understanding, although she is very young, that did not bother me. She prescribed me new birth control, which I just stopped about a week ago after a little over a month of taking it. I called the office on a Friday afternoon to speak to either Dr. Magaril or Dr. Schonfeld and the receptionist told me they were both called to the hospital for emergencies and apparently no other doctor was available for me to speak to. She told me I would have to pretty much deal with it until Dr. Schonfeld got back to me (the receptionist emailed her, which I find fairly rude). I called back on Monday, I was fairly upset and the receptionist yet again reminded me that since I wasn't pregnant I would be put on the back burner but she would email Dr. Schonfeld again. Dr. Schonfeld called me back later that night but unfortunately I did not agree with her advice. Not only are the receptionists extremely rude, there is an automated system which is horrible to work with. You have to leave your prescription information over a voicemail. When I called one time, I just pressed "0" to get to the receptionist faster and I asked, "can I speak with a person and not a computer?" and she said no, they only use the automated system. I find that pretty rude when a receptionist tells you that they will refuse a patient and tell them to use the computer system. The doctors in this practice are fine, from what I personally see - but the receptionists/nurses are uninformed and rude. I'd recommend finding a more personable practice. read more

Did not quite work for me. I waited about 20 min. to be called in and then 2.5 hours in the exam room!!! She was distant and made me feel very uncomfortable. Cold personality overall with high opinions of herself. She did had a student with her and asked if the student could have an "on-hand experience" ..which I was fine with, but when they discussed among themselves my condition, they ignored me completely indulged in the "teaching moment". read more

I'm shocked at some of the negative reviews. I have recently moved from NYC while pregnant and could not be happier with lifeline medical. Magril, Hunt and Lublin have all been wonderful! I am a high risk pregnancy and they take the time to answer my questions, make me feel at ease and help me to understand whats happening. Dr. Magril also calls to discuss my ultra sound results. I'm currently a patient but I wish I could change to another practice. My insurance didn't give me many options. The doctors were friendly during first visits but subsequent visits they were always in a rush and when I did have questions or complaints they would basically blame everything on my weight. This is my fourth kid and none of my doctors in the past ever mentioned my weight not one time. I was healthy and so were my babies. His time around I'm still healthy and baby is healthy yet this is all the talk about. One doctor even said I would hate to see you have a c section. Um no! I never had a c section why would I need one now? Unless there was a medical emergency. Then each dr has a different opinion on things. Shouldn't they be on the same page? I don't know. I really don't like them at all. I leave each visit feeling like shit. The wait time isn't long and the rest of the staff seems friendly but don't like the dr's. read more

This is my first pregnancy; and if I wasn't already committed to going to Lifeline, I would switch doctors. Thus far, I have been very unimpressed and frustrated with the group. Every time I go, I feel like a push pin...no one can ever seem to find a vein even though I donate blood monthly and never had issues. The front office is always bs-ing as I'm standing by the window waiting to be helped. Every time I go, I get asked to complete the same paperwork I filled the week before. They've given me 3 incorrect dates/times for either appointments at their office or for ultrasounds. Luckily, I checked the paperwork, noticed that appointments were outside of the time I should be seen and I questioned. When they told me last time that I must have made a mistake, I played them the voicemail they left me to prove otherwise. They have been the most stressful part of my pregnancy, and I'm nervous about them delivering our baby. I would avoid going here if you're not already pregnant or far along. read more

The office charged me $40 copay even I told them my copay should be $25 according to my insurance coverage. I contacted the office manager after I received the insurance statement on which clearly stated that I need to pay $25 copay. The office manager said I will get reimbursed from the billing department. But I got nothing after 2 month. Then I contacted the office manager again and left a voice mail. She called me back and said the billing department will send me the check. I asked when. she said she had no idea. Then a woman from billing department called me. She told me that it takes time to process a refund. I told her there are 2 months already. She was very rude. You need to be patient. She said you will get a refund by the end of month. Even it was only the beginning of the month. I asked why take that long to process a refund $15. She said you don't have to be that nasty. I called the office manager again. I told her that it is not reasonable to take 3 month to get a $15 refund. She contnacted the billing department again. The same woman from the billing department called me again. She said she will credit $15 to my credit card the same day. But according to my credit card company, they charged $15 from my credit card and refund $15. Basically I got no refund. So I contaced the billing department again. They told me that they have some technical issue and still process my refund. After more than 12 calls, I finally got my $15 back. You got to be very patient to deal with them. read more
