Hi, Just want to compliment the acute care/physical therapy center - it is so clean and the staff is so attentive. The patio is lovely, too, for patients and their visitors to enjoy the fresh air and scenery. I want to make a suggestion that I hope you will consider that would be most helpful to patients in the acute care wing - it regards the beds. While visiting a relative we noticed the bed's mattress wasn't very comfortable as I had to sit on it when the chairs were taken. My relative has been a patient for a few weeks and has yet to have a good night's sleep because the mattress is so uncomfortable. It came to me that physical therapy is crucial to their recovery and a good mattress would go a long way to help strengthen backs, legs and all-around muscle tone and would likely make their physical therapy enhanced. A good night's sleep is important to any who are struggling with pain, balance issues and maintaining a positive outlook while they are in your care. A good mattress for several beds is a cost that would have to be budgeted into your facility improvements, but it would be so helpful for the patients' recovery progress to have good support and to get a comfortable night's sleep. They neglect to answer call bells. Ignore residents needs and put them back in their soiled clothing after changing them. Bill for services and medications that were never acquired. A friend of ours had his father there and had to remove him from the neglect. Keep far away from this place. read more

Horrible place, the nurses have absolutely no idea what they are doing and the food is horrible. Put your loved one in a better place

From what I have seen they have worked out a lot of kinks from past post. The staff is wonderful I enjoy it here. All of the staff nursing staff take care of the residence with respect and love the food comes in time the cleaning staff come in on time and make sure everything is clean its a pretty wonderful flow. Everyone works together and the residents hold a special place in my heart. I would recommend this place to my family and friends if they have family in need of care because the staff that has assembled is possibly the best staff i have ever worked with in my 5 years of being a CNA. I love it here and I hopefully people will come by to see how beautiful it really is. read more

Where can I begin about Lifequest Nursing Center in Quakertown, Pa. Well let me tell you what happened with my friend who worked there and just how poorly residents are treated. My friend was a nurse at the facility and unfortunately one day she got hurt helping another staff member to prevent a resident from not only falling but also seriously hurting herself. My friend had to work light duty. It was not until she was working light duty that she saw the incompetence of this facility. My friend told me that staff would talk about residents in such a negative and mean way. Making statements how residents were gross, or smelled, or not to trust certain residents because they would stab you in the back (I know, that was what I was thinking when my friend told me all of this) She told me that there was an LPN there who would get into the residents face and intimidate them to take their medications. This LPN would yell at the residents and would tell them to be quiet. This LPN was even overheard telling another staff member how she wanted to put a residents room on fire, because she hated him so much. And this same LPN, was giving medications to these residents without even having a license to practice. And if this LPN did not like a family member she would go out of her way and Neglect the residents needs. So, one day my friend went into wish one of the residents a happy birthday. And what she found was beyond neglectful. This poor resident first of all was very very over medicated, my friend told me that she could barely keep her eyes opened, then there was blood all over the floor in the residents room along with smashed food. My friend also saw a huge blood stain in the residents bed. And if that was not bad enough, my friend saw the garbage cans overflowing with diapers full of waste. And the even worst part was my friend went over to check on the resident and saw FLIES on the residents face and her stomach. My friend tried to find the head of nursing but couldnt so knowing how my friend is and how her own family member at one time was treated so poorly by those in healthcare, my friend did what she is known to do, she got the janitor to clean up the room, and she used her one arm to clean this residents legs and put some lotion on. My friend told me that this resident had an old dressing on that was hanging on from infected drainage. My friend told me that she took a wash cloth and with warm water washed the residents legs of the dried blood and soaked the wrap to remove it. My friend tried to get help from the nursing assistants to change the bed, but they refused. The nursing assistants told my friend that the day nurse knew about all of this above and DID NOTHING. My friend told me that the resident was shaking horribly and got a blanket to cover her. My friend was trying so hard to get those nasty flies off of the residents face and stomach. My friend told me that she finally did find the nursing director and also the floor manager. My friend thought that because she told them that they would have did something, but she found out that they did nothing. Instead, my poor friend got Fired, you heard me, Fired for helping this resident who had flies on her face and body, blood on her legs, blood on her bed and floor, along with food all over the floor and diapers with waste on them. My friend told me that they told her that she was not to help the resident, but knowing my friend, that is not her, she is a loving and kind person and I know seeing that resident like that broke her heart and she had to do something, even if it was little to help the resident. So, after what my friend told me about Lifequest in Quakertown, please, I beg of you, do not send your love one there, they will die earlier. These residents are not cared for and are not safe there. They are neglected, bullied by staff, ignored. And no one does anything about it. My friend, she did do something about it, and when she did, she got fired. So, to the person that wrote the review in 2012, according to my friend, nothing has changed, still understaffed, no communication between staff, no respect for the residents by the staff, much neglect, very unsafe building with the dangerous mold throughout each wing, and lets not forget about staff that my friend told me came into work to give medications to these residents and they had alcohol in their system, since my friend told me that she could smell the nurse a mile away. My friend told me since she has not been there, she fears for the lives of these residents, because she knows that many will die due to neglect and unsafe living situation. read more

Understaffed and consistently receiving state inspection findings of deficiencies in quality of care. Residents are not well hydrated and those who can't speak for themselves, are severely dehydrated and neglected. The communication among staff is woefully limited. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing. Worse yet, they all blame it on each other. Poor record keeping. Poor sanitation and widespread diarrhea and Flu, even though each resident supposedly gets an annual Flu vaccine. If a resident becomes ill, the family is not informed. The resident becomes more and more ill until a family member insists the resident be transported by ambulance to the hospital or, if not, the resident dies. Elderly residents are going to die, but they shouldn't be dying from negligent care. ***************************************** Since my first review, I'm providing an update. I visited my Mom one afternoon and found her slumped in a wheelchair not far from the nurse's station. She was burning hot, severely dehydrated, breathing heavily, could not be awakened and her mouth was agape. I saw pieces of something on her dried, crusted tongue. It turned out to be a Tylenol tablet. You don't give a pill to someone who can't swallow. I took the pieces to a nurse who only said, "I can throw them in the trash for you." So I asked, "what are you doing for her fever? She's burning up!" The nurse replied, "We already gave her a Tylenol. She'll have to wait four hours." Is that some kind of stupid? Yes, they gave her a Tylenol, but it was not ingested. It remained on her tongue. At that point, I demanded to see the director of nursing. When you call in the boss, everyone pays attention and gathers around. The director asked who gave the Tylenol. No one knew. In fact, there wasn't even any medical record of it. I was growing angrier and had to hold myself back from decking the one nurse for giggling and saying, "Isn't it terrible growing old?" The director said she could call the doctor and ask if Mom could be given a Tylenol [rectal] suppository. I snapped, "well don't just stand there. Do it!" I stayed as the nurses put Mom in bed and inserted the suppository. I sat next to her, as she lay unconscious. I watched as an aid delivered a dinner tray for my mother and her roommate. How does an unconscious person eat? Her roommate couldn't eat unless someone fed her. Not a single nurse's aid came in the room to assist and both trays were taken away untouched. I later reported this to a nurse, who checked the records and said both my mother and her roommate ate their meals. "Not true," I said. "I was in the room the entire time."The nurse nonchalantly went back to her desk work on the computer. I went around the counter and saw that she was paying her telephone bill online. She obviously didn't know I was standing behind her until I said, "when you're finished paying your household bills, could you check on my Mom? Her fever is back and she's having a hard time breathing." At that point, I realized the staff was not going to check on my Mom's fever and labored breathing, so I insisted she be taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, which was aghast at my Mom's condition. They tried feverishly for days to treat the infection, but it had spread to all her organs. St. Luke's was also treating her for bed sores because LifeQuest failed to change her position in bed, as mandated by law. After lengthy conversations with the excellent St. Luke's Bethlehem staff, I had my Mom transferred to St. Luke's Hospice House where staff checked on her every 30 minutes, made sure she was clean, comfortable and medicated for pain. The care was superb and she died pain free and with dignity. Had I not intervened at LifeQuest, my Mom would have died a painful and horrible death and I'm sure the staff would have called [whenever they took the time to notice] to tell me Mom died during the night from "natural causes." I honestly don't know how the staff goes home and sleeps at night without a guilty conscious for either being negligent or working with negligent staff. read more

Mom has been a resident for 3 years and has received excellent care. When she developed a cough, the chest X-ray was done, reviewed by the doctor, and we (her family) were called with the results and given the plan to treat ~all within just 3 hours! She was better within days. When she bumped her leg and got a skin tear, the wound doctor came to see her within 24 hours. Quick, skilled nursing care that gives us peace of mind. Yes, the medical care is outstanding, but the friendly staff makes it feel like home. Their Activities keep the days rolling with music, painting, crafts, baking, games, and more. Their monthly Family Council meetings give us an ideal place to voice any questions and concerns directly to the Administrator and department supervisors. We also receive updates on current events and any changes going on. As with any nursing facility, like schools, family involvement is key to success. Come visit, stay for a meal or activity, and partner with the staff, to make your resident feel valued and loved. read more

My Mom stayed in the Sub-Acute wing for over a month for physical therapy. She received excellent care. The entire staff was extremely attentive, helpful and supportive. They even kept me in the loop all the way through her treatment. All the physical therapists are very good at what they do and very through. read more
