ConS: They give great tours and promise you the world, but their follow through on their promises…read moreis weak. They struggle with communication. Upon asking for a meeting with the head of school, she refused, as I had not spoken with all of her subordinates first, even though I was paying almost $1000 per month for a glorified daycare. They spent most of their day outside, even in the hottest hours of the sun... in the dead of summer. I was highly disappointed with CBMS. They lack in diversity, and it is evident. I even wondered, at times, if race played a part in the "issues" they had with my two year olds behavior. They are not equipped to deal with any kind of transitional period for toddlers. I began getting calls to pick up my toddler two days after school began because he was crying at nap time, even though, Tracy told me that they were amazing with the kids and helping them transition. They were very supportive of my son having a bottle at nap time, and even said that they are willing to rock kids in the rocking chair, if a child is having a hard time at nap time. Then, once I paid the $800 non refundable registration fee and the contract, Tracy told me that rocking and bottles are not aligned with the Montessori way of creating independence. I would have appreciated it more, if they told me that when I was touring their facility, instead of trying to sell me on the dream, just to get the money. One of the "issues" was that my two year old would tap the teacher on the shoulder when he wanted her attention.... again, he's two. Their expectations are unrealistic. My child is not a robot, and he is an amazing kid because of that. CBMS is just not cut out for anyone who wants a positive, encouraging environment for their child. They don't even believe in saying "good job" or "wow! That was great! I'm proud of you" to kids. I wish I had been warned about them, prior to paying so much to receive so little. We left before this point, but beware- at the 6 week mark, they can dismiss your child if you don't align with ALL of their beliefs and if your child hasn't adjusted to the Montessori way (which is apparently playing by themselves and napping on their own with no transitions). Positive: The afternoon teacher, Bailey, was amazing! We loved her and her positive attitude and outlook. She always had a smile on her face, and the kids respond very well to her positive energy!

When we moved from California last year, one of my biggest concerns was finding the right preschool…read morefor our daughter. We toured several preschools in the area, but nothing really felt like the right fit. Many of them felt a bit institutional. AAIMS, however, felt different. Ms. Nargis, the director, gave us a tour, and I could tell she really cares about the school. You can see how much thought she puts into it and how much she wants it to be a great place for both the kids and the teachers. The kids looked happy and playful, the teachers were welcoming, and the whole atmosphere just felt right. What I'm most thankful for is what happened a few months after our daughter started. Our family was going through a difficult season, and she developed separation anxiety and became very attached to her favorite blanket. As a mom, it was heartbreaking to leave her during that time. Ms. Nargis and Ms. Teressa were incredibly patient and supportive. They genuinely cared about helping her through that season. They kept me updated, worked closely with me, and gave her the extra reassurance she needed. Knowing she was surrounded by people who understood what she was going through and truly wanted to help meant so much to us. That kind of care is hard to find, and it meant the world to our family. Our daughter has come such a long way in overcoming her separation anxiety. Now she runs into preschool with a huge smile, and one of the sweetest things is seeing her comfort her friends when they're sad to say goodbye to their moms. That just amazes me. Watching her grow in confidence has been such a joy, and we're so thankful to all of the teachers at AAIMS. I also love the curriculum. It's engaging, age-appropriate, and I can see how much she's learning while still having plenty of time to play and just be a kid. We also appreciate the variety of extracurricular activities they offer, which gives the kids opportunities to explore new interests and build confidence. One thing I really respect is the way Ms. Nargis leads AAIMS. I know it isn't easy running a preschool and balancing the needs of so many children, parents, and teachers, but her love and passion for the school are genuine. You can tell she truly wants AAIMS to be the best it can be, and I really admire that. Moving to a new state came with a lot of unknowns, but finding AAIMS has truly been a blessing for our family. We're incredibly thankful for Ms. Nargis and the wonderful teachers who have loved, encouraged, and supported our daughter. Thank you for making her first preschool experience such a positive one. We'll always be grateful.

It also fosters independence and my kids are capable of so many things that I never thought they would be at their ages. The teachers are kind and patient, but firm, and they really get to know you children and appreciate who they are as individuals. The fresh, healthy snacks from a local co-op are just a bonus. My only problem with the school is that it doesn't go past age 6. We'll be so sad to leave!

We were planning on homeschooling but I still wanted our kids to start with some school environment experience. Smyrna Montessori School was everything we were looking for. My children get lots of individual attention, are encouraged to explore and learn as much as they want and have had some wonderful friendships develop. There is a strong sense of respect modeled through kindness towards the teachers, classmates, learning materials and the world (cultures, the environment). The teachers love my children like they were their own and are passionate about the Montessori style of learning. Both of my children have gained a lot of confidence and independence since they began there. If I ever have a question I can set up a time to talk with any teacher. I'm always impressed with how aware they are of everything my child deals with on a daily basis, what their strengths are, how much progress they have made in areas of behavior, character and learning. I do wish they extended beyond the Primary program (3-6 years). I don't think there is any problem with illness any different than any other school environment. I don't love that the lead toddler teacher spot has changed hands a few times, but I understand that when a teacher has a baby she will want to take time to be with her new baby. This has been the only reason for teachers leaving that I am aware of. Those teachers have stayed in contact with the school and return for visits when possible. We feel very fortunate to be at Smyrna Montessori School and are so happy it opened at the perfect time for our kids. And as far as safety goes, our children are referred to as precious gifts, children are not allowed out of the classroom unless a teacher or parent is with them and the school and yard are secured during the day. I have no concern for my children's safety at all. Montessori is a different approach to learning than what a lot of people are used to, but for us it has been perfect. Oh, and I LOVE that I get an email and photos every week from each of my kids teachers touching on what the kids are working on and enjoying and some explanation about the Montessori process.

Not wheelchair accessible either with no cameras was also a red flag. They have a problem keeping staff around, I noticed months ago and I was told during my visit that a senior instructor was leaving. I dont blame the staff because of managements spurious sense of care. No need for you all to lure parents in to visit your little house school with false promises and covert discriminatory behavior once they leave because they didnt pass your projecting manipulative test. If you dont like the look and skin colors of the intellectual parents you cannot manipulate, surely you couldn't genuinely care for their offspring. Be careful not to leave your children around people so miserable they refuse to provide or heat up food for a 17 month old enrolled at their "school" with a tuition. This is optional childcare before grade school and these are the type of people that make you want to keep your kid home schooled.

At 4 years of age my son's degree of concentration, ability to problem solve, love and understanding of nature and level of creativity are far beyond my expectations. I know with these skills he will have an outstanding foundation to grow from. My 1 year old is also greatly benefiting from this environment, at 15 months she has shown me how capable even a toddler can be. She feeds herself independently, can drink from a cup, is working on dressing herself, "helps" me with chores and takes great pride in showing me what she can do. The teachers or "guides" are all wonderful and truly care about your children. I strongly recommend this school to anyone.
