I called today and they were closed (on a Friday), so I called the emergency answering service due to bright red blood (a LOT OF IT) and passing a blood clot in my urine a few hours later. I never received a phone call, text or otherwise. I'm scared and don't know what to do. Went to the ER for the same symptoms earlier this week and they gave me a few days worth of cipro, which hasn't changed a thing. I'm lost and just blown away that no one at Dr Akl's office could return my call.

Going first thing I was seen immediately with hardly any wait. They did x-ray first and then roomed me. The doctor came in promptly. Dr. Raia was fine. He was not super personable and did not come off as a friendly guy. He is all business. You better be able to explain what happened to you in 1 to 2 sentences max. He's not interested in listening to long explanations. I don't really mind this, but I do know that a lot of people like to talk (having work in the medical field). And if you'd like to talk, you are not going to like him. He seemed knowledgeable and helped me with my issue. Although I did feel rushed and questioned myself if I got all my questions answered. Luckily I do not need surgery so I do not know if he's a good surgeon or not. I think his bedside manner could be improved. But overall, it was fine. I would not recommend him to anyone expecting a bubbly, friendly personality.

I went in and we discussed what I hated (deep tear troughs that made me look constantly tired), and he suggested Juvéderm (similar to Restylane, but thicker and lasts about 3-4 months longer). He answered all my questions and told me to expect a little bumpiness the first week or two and maybe some bruising (you can see the bumps under the right eye, in the after pictures I'll post. Keep in mind they are only about an hour and a half apart). I was really nervous and do not do well with needles but he was awesome and even though it didn't hurt I started to feel a bit dizzy so he let me take two little breaks in between injections. Even with my break time I was in and out in under 15 minutes! No numbing, but it didn't hurt at all (maybe a little pinch, but even with me not doing well with needles, it was not painful). He was super patient with me and was awesome at distraction and getting me to relax! I will definitely see him again in 6 to 8 months when the Juvéderm needs to be refreshed!

Mo is his PA and office manager and is so straight forward and real. She sits and listens when she takes your info and is there for you when you call in. They usually have a student Dr. one of whom had joined the team and is awesome. I enjoy letting the students learn with my info, but Dr. McRunels always asks if it's ok, even after 16 years of going there. The neighborhood and building is a little rough, but don't let it fool you. Dr Mc is a diamond in the rough and the best doc I've ever had.

I rarely get through to anyone when I call regarding appointments, and often don't hear back for 2 days or more. This is tough when you are sick and looking for care from your primary physician. The last straw for me was when I had a sinus infection and called for an appointment and 2 weeks later, I still haven't heard back. I understand that you may not be able to get in (and I went to an urgent care instead), but I would at least expect a call back within 24 hours. In addition, I've had 3 different doctors in and out of the office in the 3 years I've been there. It makes it hard to feel like you're starting all over again at each annual check up. Switched to a different office. Hopefully they can sort out the Queen Creek office in the future.
