After my total knee replacement I was signed up to go to another rehab center. I went one time and knew it wasn't for me. At the time I had an in home therapist who helped me get signed up with IvyRehab. What a blessing! I am in my sixth week there and just had my six-week follow-up with the surgeon this week. I needed L4-5 PT, but wanted aquatic PT (94 to 96 degree warm water pool designed specifically for…read morePT). From prior experience with back and knee PT, it is SOOO much easier to do PT in water than on land, particularly if you are at all overweight. Aquatic PT relaxes muscles with easier stretching, and greatly decreases the aggravation of gravity so you can really hone in on the particular muscles you need to address. I shopped four area water PT sites and asked to speak to the head PT for aquatic therapy; that separated the wheat from the chaff very quickly. Tip: If they don't return your call or if they can't be specific about pros/cons of water vs land, look elsewhere. This site is a 35 min drive from my home, but after several sessions, I can tell you it's the best for water PT that I've experienced in three states. The combo of Rebecca Stubbs, DPT and Shaughnessy Postell, PTA was excellent. Shaughnessy is a masters-level swimmer who loves the water. That added a great new level to aquatic PT, as she could easily invent ways to get to my problem areas--much more so than someone not completely comfortable in the water. That makes her A+ creative and highly effective. In addition, Compleat also offers a great 'graduate' wellness program after you finish PT: inexpensive continued access with therapists still available for questions (just not the constant supervision of a PT session). This is a terrific place--highly recommend.

I have had some not so good experiences with OTHER Chiropractors. I tend to tense up at times because of past experiences. Dr Dave is always so kind and patient and explains everything to you. I have had problems with my back, neck and spine for a while. I even already had surgery to fuse a couple vertebrae together. My last visit with Ortho, they suggested physical therapy, surgery (again) or to live with the pain. I tried physical therapy for a while with little or no results. My son is also a patient and suggested I see Dr Dave. You never feel rushed. He takes the time to listen to what is bothering you to make sure he doesn't need to adjust your treatment plan. Everyone remembers you and asks about your day or plans for the week. Then, your next visit they ask you about it. Dr Dave sets up a treatment plan and reevaluates that plan if needed. You will start to feel more mobility then you use to, even in areas you didn't realize you needed it! You don't feel forced or pushed into purchasing anything. They really care about your well being!!

And looking back, I would recommend this practice to everyone. And if your inexperience with a chiropractor keeps you from a visit. I had been one as well. What changed was my attitude toward the course, and with the help of everyone at Lake Wiley Chiropractic, my comfort level is very high. I am a reasonably healthy middle-aged male, and through my treatments, I have noticed a difference in my overall health. My general movements are more fluid, and the tension in my neck through the middle of my back has been relieved.
