I recently had cataract surgery and after a couple of eye exams later I was told to go and get a set of prescription glasses from the people who sell and fit them in the clinic up front. I talked to a sales lady about getting a pair and that it would be paid for by Medicare. She said she'd never heard of that and tried to sell me some high end frames and lenses for which she said Medicare would pay a partial part. I think she was misleading me because I phoned later and talked to a great guy named Seth who asked me to come in and talk to him the next day. I came in the next day and he pulled out some standard frames and lens options and told me that, if I didn't get any options, Medicare would pay for the glasses. I believe the sales person I first spoke with was trying to get me to buy high end glasses for the commission she would get on them. This is a misleading practice that might take advantage of elderly people who don't know their way around Medicare. In effect, it is a scam on the salesperson's part in my opinion. Always be careful, my elderly friends.

So i scheduled our appontments on a Thursday after school so the kids wouldnt miss school and on a day that finally worked fornmy husbands work schedule. I scheduled appointments at least a month in advance. Then the day before our appointments i was told that they double booked my appointment and would have to have my appointment an hour later...but with kids and the distance that doesn't work. No concern from opticare. They have always had great customer service but clearly that has changed. I will be looking for another eye doctor.

My eyesight had been getting fuzzy for quite some time so I finally decided to make an appointment…read morefor my first ever eye exam. I called up Valley Vision Clinic at the recommendation of my boyfriend to schedule. It was a very clean and nice office. The nurse took me within a few minutes of arriving to have a "picture" taken of the back of my eye with some new fancy equipment. Dr. Hall came in a few minutes after that and he looked at my eye pictures and explained what he was looking at. He even offered to print them for me to hang up, but sadly only one other patient has ever taken him up on that offer. The doctor was very personable and explained everything as he did it. We found out that I would benefit from some low strength lenses, and then explained the difference between prescription glasses and reading glasses like I had been wearing, ultimately letting me make my own choice on what to do. Since my insurance doesn't cover routine eye exams, I paid $110 for the exam. They do take health insurance, though, if it covers the eye exams. I would recommend this clinic, and will be going back yearly while I live in Grand Forks.

I was told the main doctor I saw was immune compromised, and thankfully, I was wearing a mask, and the young woman said he'd be wearing a mask as she took my temperature. He never wore a mask. He also cut me off a few times while I was speaking and had a very dominant tone that didn't sit well with me. He called me 'kid' and 'kiddo'. I'm a 34 year-old woman. We do not have that type of relationship. It made me feel revulsion. I then had to pay $60 for a contract lense fitting, but all I had was an eye exam, and I was not getting contacts that day, as they didn't have them on hand. Then, I went to pick out my glasses, which were supposed to be covered by my insurance fully, but they added on a $10 charge out of nowhere, claiming it was because of the lenses. It took an extra hour just to get the glasses. I would not recommend this place. It's a mess.

Tasha…read moretook so much time with me and explained everything so well, I have never had the greatest results when it comes to picking out frames, she was so patient with me and when my mother and daughter showed up to help me pick out my frames she was so nice and just overall an amazing lady with wonderful customer service skills. The man that was also working there was amazing to. I didnt get his name..one more thing I want to add is when I told her about my experience at my last exam how the dr was in such a rush and that I was never happy with my prescription she took the extra time to show me what my new script would look like. I cant wait to get my new script and new franes. Its also very good price..for my exam, the new lens and frames the total was 160.00 I couldnt get mine done same day since I have astigmatism, and got the no line bifocal,anti glare and scratch resistant its gonna take up to 2 weeks. Again I highly recommend this place. They also take walkins. ​
