I called up Valley Vision Clinic at the recommendation of my boyfriend to schedule. It was a very clean and nice office. The nurse took me within a few minutes of arriving to have a "picture" taken of the back of my eye with some new fancy equipment. Dr. Hall came in a few minutes after that and he looked at my eye pictures and explained what he was looking at. He even offered to print them for me to hang up, but sadly only one other patient has ever taken him up on that offer. The doctor was very personable and explained everything as he did it. We found out that I would benefit from some low strength lenses, and then explained the difference between prescription glasses and reading glasses like I had been wearing, ultimately letting me make my own choice on what to do. Since my insurance doesn't cover routine eye exams, I paid $110 for the exam. They do take health insurance, though, if it covers the eye exams. I would recommend this clinic, and will be going back yearly while I live in Grand Forks.

I asked Seth if I would be seeing an optometrist. He said "yes". Technically he didn't lie: I "saw" an optometrist. BS you guys - tell patients that we won't actually be physically, in person "seen" by the actual doctor.

Last week I was in for an exam. The doctor I saw, Eric Tyler, is the worst ice ever seen. I literally ended up walking out without completing the exam. He was rude, right off. Didn't even give his name, I had to find it on some paperwork. I was planning to get contact lenses. It's been some time since I've had them, soni was struggling to get the first one in. Rather than let me continue to try, he said he'd do it, which I wasn't comfortable with but didn't feel like he was giving me a choice. The first went in fine, but the second would not align properly. He attempted three times, and it would not work, and during the attempt he poked my eye quite hard. I became irritated and uncomfortable, and decided I would worry about the contacts at a later date. I told him to stop and I would just do the standard glasses, but he insisted that perhaps the prescription was wrong, and asked me to redo part of the exam. At this point, my eye wasn't focusing properly and when I told him I couldn't clearly see the chart anymore, he said that there was no reason and it didn't make sense. I was angry by now, and terminated the exam, removing the one contact that had been successfully put in and leaving the room. As I was leaving, he rushed into the waiting room and declared to his nurses very loudly how I was "having a panic attack" which was not even remotely true. I was angry and I was frustrated he wasn't listening. I don't know if there were other people besides my girlfriend in the waiting room, and find this behavior very unprofessional and inappropriate. I left the building. I learned from my girlfriend, who was seen after I left, that he talked to her about what happened (again, very unprofessional) and that he tried to say it was my fault because the lense had become too dry from the multiple attempts. My eyes were literally watering during this so that is false. I should point out that I have no idea if he actually knew it was my girlfriend he was talking to. For all I know he thought she was a complete stranger to me. Even if he knew, what right dies he have to discuss my exam without my permission? I will never go back as long as "Dr." Eric Tyler is there.

I had just had an exam 6 months earlier and the same pad exam was conducted and they were dismissive of my concerns with NO effort in finding a solution outside the usual. I ordered glasses the same day as my exam and when I called to pick them up they indicated they used the prescription from 6 months earlier which extended my wait time for the glasses. Once I received the glasses I tried them out and was disappointed that they did not correct my vision problems, when I went in to return them and ask for a refund I was not treated poorly by the optical staff however the rude and unprofessional behavior by the manager was abysmal. In addition a letter was sent to my home by the manager indicating that I could no longer pursue services with Lifetime Vision, this was not only unnecessary as I had no intention of going back, but also extremely petty. Do yourself a favor and save time and money and seek eyecare elsewhere!

My Altru eye doctor left her practice at Altru and a friend recommended I try Dr. Gander. I was so impressed by the thoroughness of the exam and the explanations for the results of each exam. My previous eye appointments have never been this thorough. I have borderline glaucoma so my eye health is important. I am very very thankful that my friend Lisa recommended Dr. Gander. Excellent exam, excellent service, and the staff are very nice.

I have always loved opticare...but we live 1.5 hours away so I schedule family appointments all on…read morethe same day. So i scheduled our appontments on a Thursday after school so the kids wouldnt miss school and on a day that finally worked fornmy husbands work schedule. I scheduled appointments at least a month in advance. Then the day before our appointments i was told that they double booked my appointment and would have to have my appointment an hour later...but with kids and the distance that doesn't work. No concern from opticare. They have always had great customer service but clearly that has changed. I will be looking for another eye doctor.
