She made a casual comment that it was fine, but she emphasized that they couldn't discuss my application with anyone except me. As if I had asked or wasn't aware of this. It was quite obvious, but I suppose. My sister visited the complex, and in my opinion, they weren't very friendly. I was on FaceTime with her when she arrived, exuding a cheerful disposition and explaining her purpose. The lady recognized her because I had recently emailed. My sister attempted to engage in pleasantries, but they fell flat. However, I understand that it might have been due to Mercury retrograde. They provided her with a map and instructed her on the location of the available unit. That was the extent of their interaction. They didn't mention any of the amenities or other details. My sister drove around the complex and showed me the unit. I liked it. My sister remarked, "I suppose that's it. They didn't really say anything." Despite feeling a bit uneasy, I decided to proceed with the application. I was approved, and I chose a move-in date of May 31st. I paid the reservation fee. Almost two weeks passed, and I hadn't received any updates, but I wanted to move in sooner, so I set a move-in date of May 3rd, as there was a first-floor unit available. I sent an email requesting a quote, but I didn't receive any response. I sent a follow up email a few days later, no response. I waited a few days before calling them, as it was clear that no one was following up with urgency. I spoke to someone who informed me that they could not accept my payment documents because the name on the documents did not match my name. I use an alias at work due to the remote/virtual nature of my job, and my initials actually match my name. The girl on the phone told me that they would need my bank statements or to verify my employment over the phone. I agreed to having them contact my job, as I had no issues with that. However, as the conversation progressed, she informed me that they needed both my bank statements and to contact my job. This was a clear case of mixed messages, and I couldn't help but wonder if they were just trying to make things difficult under the impression that I was providing fake documents. Despite this, I decided to let it slide and remain interested in the place and would send everything in. She kept repeating that she could not switch my unit until my information was fully verified. I understood her point, but I also felt that she needed to know my plan especially since you have to reserve the unit you wanted and I had already paid. I requested that they send me an email outlining what they needed, as no one had reached out to me. It took me contacting them for them to even acknowledge that there was a problem. After several hours, I finally received an email. Within the same hour, I sent back the requested information, along with additional details. This was two weeks ago, and I have yet to hear anything back. It is evident that these people do not want me to stay at their property, and it is even more evident that I do not desire to live in a place that lacks follow-up and treats people as if they are committing fraud. Of course, the reservation fee is non-refundable. Which is very convenient for them. If you choose to move here, good luck, but I will never apply here or recommend them to anyone. - And to be clear, income isn't close to an issue and my CAREER is with a well known company! I had a very positive experience when the community was managed by Cortland. The staff was professional, responsive, and attentive. Unfortunately, my experience changed significantly after the transition to Marquis management. During my time under Marquis, I experienced recurring pest concerns and repeated complaints about excessive noise from my upstairs neighbor that I did not feel were adequately addressed. However, my greatest concern has been the handling of my move-out. Following my father's passing, I made the difficult decision to relocate closer to my mother after eight years at the community. Because I work Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., visiting the office in person was difficult. On May 10, I attempted to submit my notice by email, but it was returned as undeliverable. Toward the end of May, I finally spoke with a leasing associate by phone. I explained my circumstances and the undeliverable email. The associate provided the correct email address and instructed me to submit my notice there, which I did during the first week of June. I was not informed that my notice was considered late or that additional charges would apply. After submitting my notice, I was informed that I would be charged additional fees for not providing the required 60-day notice. I immediately explained my previous attempts to provide notice, but received no response. Over the following weeks, I made numerous calls, left voicemails, and sent emails trying to resolve the issue. Many calls went unanswered. When I eventually spoke with Ms. Paola, I explained the situation and asked whether consideration could be given based on my eight-year residency and documented attempts to provide notice. I was told that if I could provide the original email, the fees could be waived. Since my sent emails are automatically deleted after 30 days, I explained that I could provide the undeliverable notification instead. I sent it as requested, but again received no follow-up. After weeks without resolution, I posted a Google review describing my experience. The following day, Ms. Paola contacted me and stated that she was willing to work with me and waive the additional charges if I removed the review, provided I had paid rent through my final day of occupancy--which I had already done. I explained that I would gladly remove the review once the matter was actually resolved. I was told the waiver would be processed and that I would receive an update within a few days. A week passed without communication. After additional calls, I was told the documentation was insufficient and that the request still required approval, which had not been explained during our earlier conversation. With help from a coworker, I recovered the original email from my deleted folder and forwarded it immediately. When I called the next day to confirm receipt, I was placed on hold for approximately 29 minutes. The emails were eventually found in the spam folder. After reviewing the email, I was told it appeared to be "fake," despite it coming directly from my account and containing the original correspondence. I was again told the matter would be submitted for approval and that I would receive follow-up. Since then, despite additional calls, voicemails, and emails, I have received no meaningful update or resolution. My concern is not simply about the charges. It is the repeated lack of communication, inconsistent information, delays, and difficulty I experienced while trying to resolve this matter in good faith. I made multiple documented attempts to provide notice and repeatedly tried to communicate with the leasing office. After eight years as a resident, I had hoped my move-out experience would be handled with the same professionalism I experienced under the previous management. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I respectfully ask corporate management to review my emails, documentation, call records, and the timeline of events and reconsider the additional charges. I believe my documented attempts to provide notice, my eight-year residency, and the representations made to me deserve consideration. Around January, we noticed a problem with small German roaches. We made sure to wash our dishes every night, take out the trash every two days, and we kept the floors and counters clean. We called pest control four times. No matter what we did the roach problem got worse. It got to a point where we couldn't use our kitchen without roaches crawling out of the dishwasher or running across the stovetop. We requested a deep fumigation and had to move all of our furniture, but that didn't work either. I wish we didn't have to move as we enjoyed the apartment itself, but we felt like we didn't have a choice. We left the apartment on good terms, and they were flexible with our move out date. This feels like nothing short of a money-making scheme between the apartment and the towing company. They prey on residents and their guests instead of being reasonable. I even had my brother get an apartment here so we could live closer. I moved here in the Spring of 2023 but Summer 2023 a NEW property manager named Regina was brought in. She has been FANTASTIC and really enhanced the community! The Team: Regina has provided consistent updates on beautification efforts and repairs happening around the complex so we know what is going on at ALL times. She also started hosting fun resident events which helps bring everyone together and makes this feel more like home. I appreciate her auditing of the parking and storage facilities to make sure these amenities are being properly managed. Regina even gave me a personal tour of the various storage options so I could find the best unit for my needs - that level of customer service stands out! She was extremely sweet and informative. The maintenance team is dependable, pleasant, and very observant as they go about their duties. I've noticed if I ever see something amiss in the community, it is usually addressed by maintenance within a week without me needing to "report" it! Management is great about emailing tenants updates so we know issues are being taken care of. As for the leasing team, Imari and Andrew have both provided stellar service as well. Imari has come to my rescue many times when I'm trying to track down one of my many packages. She is always patient and even helped me setup my Amazon locker- truly a convenience! Andrew helped get me smoothly moved in initially and followed up on pet paperwork when I added my dog to make sure everything was in compliance. I observed him once taking note of a neighbor's dog that was continuously barking in the unit (for like 24hrs) - that issue was promptly resolved and I'm GRATEFUL he addressed it. Amenities: I enjoy the beautiful pool and HUGE grass lawn where I often play with my dog. The gym is always clean and the office has coffee for residents. I also appreciate how quick and easy it is to get to places like the nearby Walgreens, Kroger, AND especially Waterside Park- it has a giant lake (Figure 4 Lake) that you can walk around. Being able to walk or take a short drive to grab essentials or enjoy some lake views is really convenient which is great for maintaining quality of life. I see other reviews indicate they had issues with their car's being broken into. This has never happened to me, nor has it happened to either of my 5 family members who have parked here as a resident and/or guest. I enjoy living in a place that is so diligently maintained. I'd say I even feel good paying rent because I know all the staff PAY attention and truly do the work needed to care for the community. It really shows!! Thank you for all the work you do!
