Our new house has a fireplace and we are right at 1 month in the house and finally had a chimney…read moreinspection and sweep! Before moving in, we renovated and redid the fireplace inside and while all the construction was going on we discovered a leak in the chimney! Turned out we needed a new chimney cap and some other repairs. After all that and the chilly weather we have been having, I had John book us an inspection and sweep. I didn't want to take any chances with the new house! We scheduled a level II inspection and sweep. There was a wait to get an appointment- but today they were 10 minutes early and took about 40 minutes for the two men to check and clean our chimney. They said it was one of the cleanest they had ever seen! I'm sure the new cap helped- but also they believe the chimney was barely used. The gentleman (Michael) who came into the house was very professional- he removed his shoes, made sure to lay down a drop cloth and even covered the front of the fireplace to keep any soot to a minimum. Our report is very thorough- everything is to code and in good condition. And I currently have a fire blazing even though it's not too chilly out! Had I known the leak was not so much the roof- but a chimney problem, I probably would have had a quote from this company!

After going back to the property he said he could not fix the door and simply performed the other minor items, which included repairing a whole in the floor where. The first picture he sent me was terribly sloppy and I had to go back and forth with him to do it the right way. Then he added one plastic utility covered and touched up a few paint spots of walls, yet still charged me the full $750. When I asked him about it he was super aggressive and threatening and sent me an email demanding payment immediately or he would put a lien on our primary residence. His invoice states payment is due when work is completed to our satisfaction, which has still not happened. We paid him because it was not worth dealing with over a few hundred dollars but I would steer clear of this guy! Poor quality of work, aggressive and not worth the hassle.

I was told that they'd meet my tenet between 1-3 pm and would give me a call 30 min out.I informed my tenet at the property. The next day they showed up at 0900 with NO courtesy call while my tenet who works long hours was busy cleaning for their arrival. She didn't let them inside and I don't blame her. She said what she wanted done, after doing some measurements from outside they said they could give a rough estimate on an easy install. I waited a week on said estimate and got nothing. Finally the office manager calls me back and tells me that they need to go back to the property. She apologizes for their unprofessional first visit. They lied to my tenet apparently about being able to produce estimate and didn't give a damn. We schedule a visit on Feb 1st, 2022 and this time I meet them. My tenet had cleaned the floors, tidied the place up and they called and showed as scheduled. After doing measurements and reassuring us they were up to the task we shook hands and those two left. No quote that day. The next day I get a call from the office manager asking me bizarre insulting questions about my house and my tenet, cleanliness, etc. then go on to accuse my tenet of having a cat-pissed soaked litter box (again an ammonia-based floor cleaner is where the scent originated) and the installers complaining to the office manager that they couldn't hardly stay in the house because of watering eyes - a BLATENT LIE! They didn't know I am the owner and I was there and I pre-inspected the area. I was there BEFORE DURING AND AFTER the "visit" Gods honest truth: It was fine, no cat box anywhere near, just an empty corner of the living room. My conclusion is that the job was not lucrative enough for them to bother with it and instead of being truthful with me and my tenant they came up with a lame excuse and made it her fault! To conclude: Don't let these unprofessional cretins at L.D. Phillips anywhere near your home, ESPECIALLY if you have a beautiful home and need clean installers with INTEGRITY doing your install. If they are a reflection of the company, then they have issues you don't want!!! Shop elsewhere!!!!!!!!

On another job we needed done the matriarch of this family did just that. She said she had asked us to look for someone else to do the work we requested a few times because they were just to busy. Not once in 3 months did she or her son suggest this. They strung me along for 3 months! The work is still not done and NOW they tell me they aren't willing to do the work because they just don't have the time! This is a job that would take no more than 30 minutes. They could have done it when they did the chimney. They told us in 3 weeks another month past. Small but important jobs just don't rank high here.

But tried handful times to get a proper proposal to sign but they couldn't give me one. Ended up in a group chat with everyone on the project and still couldn't get any where just excuses that the company is having changes ect ect. The manager (Mike) from the office got moody when I asked if I need to go else where because I couldn't get proper paper to sign which I feel is unprofessional from someone that's in charge. I'd avoid the company since communication at the office level is poor and I'd be nervous to see what kind of work they would actually do after the fact.
