We had a great stay at the Lighthouse Inn. From check in to check out everything was great! Staff was super friendly and obligated to making your stay memorable. Check in was great; We were given tickets for each day for breakfast, room was clean and everything shipshape. We found a place to eat that we picked out before our arrival at the hotel. There was a nice dinner group as we arrived; that's always nice to see. Upon returning to the hotel we stopped in the bar and met Conner, the bartender. He was a nice bartender and good conversationist. Filled us in on the history of the inn. Breakfast Saturday morning didn't disappoint. We got certain breakfast entrees to pick from or you could use the voucher for a $7.50 towards other entree items and pay difference and any tax. Nice idea! Gone all day so back later to hotel. Breakfast again Sunday morning; same routine. They had a large breakfast group Sunday morning and all not people staying at hotel. So local come for the breakfast as well! Definitely a nice place to stay. The scenery was great and lots going on around the city. read more

This was our 2nd stay at the hotel. Both times it was clean. The view is incredible if you pay for lakeside. With that said, the hotel needs a desperate updating. I don't mind old furniture, but each time the beds were horrible (bouncy and springy, with no support). Beds had to be from the 70s like everything else! I paid $180 a night without the ability to sleep. I was hoping the first time was a fluke and that is why we stayed a second time. If running a hotel and want to make money with return visits, you would think you would invest in good bedding. With that said, the hotel was packed with Packers fans. I guess they don't care as long as they are booking rooms. The hallways smelled musty. Food was good tasting, but took forever for order to be taken and served. They are way under staffed. We waited in bar for 20 min for a drink and the bartender never showed up. They lost $ due to no service. read more

We made a reservation through Expedia. When we got there the hotel would not honor our booking. They offered us a downgraded room that would not fit a pack and play for our infant. Customer service was extremely rude and would give no compensation or apology. read more

The food was limited on the buffet for a Mother's Day brunch. On the breakfast side of the buffet they offer scrambled eggs, poached eggs, sausage links and bacon. No toast, butter, or pancakes. The salad bar was set up awkwardly. One line for a tiny layout. If two people were on the line, it was congested. It felt like a traffic jam. The lunch side of the buffet consisted of baked chicken, chicken nuggets, beef tips (which were delicious) mashed potatoes, ham, gravy and mixed vegetables. There was no dessert option. They simple brought out a little plate of six bite-size morsels for three people. Unfortunately the service was super slow for it not being very busy. We weren't even sure who was servicing us. At the end, I saw the bill and I was shocked that they charged $25 a person. I guess that's what we get for not planning ahead of time. The view of Lake Michigan was amazing! read more

Working with third-party reservations and the payment that's made through them. The property had a credit card from the third-party and failed to use it instead tricked me into using my credit card because I thought they were asking for a credit card for damage deposit. Instead. They ran the whole stay on my card, including my restaurant charges, which would've been covered by the credit card use from the third-party biller. In essence I had to pay twice pending review of both charges. read more

She was one reason we found it hard to leave this little piece of heaven She was sweet and hard working and i hope they are paying her what shes worth. So many things I want to say after reading other reviews, but I'll keep it brief. We stayed at the Lighthouse Inn so our breakfast came with the room. I also enjoyed a drink in the bar (the night before). Both breakfast and drink were very good. The blueberry oatmeal brûlée was incredible. Highly recommend it. My husband and daughter had the eggs, bacon, toast plate. They said it was very good. Overall we had a very good experience at a local family-owned and run establishment, which we always love supporting. read more

The negetive is the hotel is old and rundown, it's like stepping back in time, it could use a injection of capital to make some Upgrading, But if they did, it would also be a much more expensive place, all in all, taking into consideration the price, recommend it with 4 stars read more

Our third stay in this hotel. Room was great but our dinner was awful. We waited an hour to receive our food and it was cold. All the customers who came in after us were already halfway through their dinners by the time we got our food. Complaints to management were ignored. I doubt I will be back again. read more

Not impressed. Neat location on the lake, but that's it. It's fine the rooms are a bit dated, but. Our room had a damp smell that made it feel dirty. Poor lighting. Only 3 tale lights with low wattage bulbs. The toilet was also lower than normal. There were none of the extras like hair dryers, little soap, etc. It was bare bone. The bed was fine, but the pillows were flat and there were no extras in the room. No sure I'd stay again. read more

My husband and I have stayed here a few times. For the price of our stay, we decided to return. This hotel is in a great location. Literally right by the water (you can't get any closer). The hotel furnishings are extremely outdated but clean. The exterior landscaping needs a lot of attention. The restaurant and bar are very nice. The breakfast was complimentary with our room. We were seated by the window overlooking the lake. It was beautiful! My husband said it reminds him of the 80s, and makes him feel younger. A much simpler time in life. read more

Been coming here for decades. Showing its age, but good food and drinks. Rooms are comfortable, but dated. Stayed 4 days and held a social event here where we took over the bar and restaurant for the afternoon. Food (sandwiches) for the event were very good, bread was fresh, etc. You get a voucher every morning for $5 off breakfast. Clue: their brûlée oatmeal is great! Bartenders are friendly, drink pours are generous and prices are good. The bar is held together with duct tape and the fish tanks are filled with green algae. Our room had a view of the parking lot because I was too cheap to pay for a lake view ($10 extra), but the beds were OK and it was clean. This is not the Hilton, but if you are looking for a reasonable place to stay with decent food and drinks and killer views, it will do. read more

There are so many pluses to this place. The bar overlooking Lake Michigan. Donte the bartender could not have been better. Breakfast to order Lake side was awesome. Staff is fantastic! Room. Ugh! Right out of the 50s. Awful if overlooking the parking lot and highway. We booked a year ago and had the parking lot view. I think they got the furnishings at the resale shop downtown. Carpet is old. Furniture is old. Bedding is old. Definitely time for an upgrade. Come on! You can do better. Parking lot is first thing you see, and it is littered with cigarette butts!!! read more

The hotel is old but reasonably clean. The bed was a Queen with a very hard mattress and not very comfortable for either of us. The room was spacious and had a beautiful view of the water. I found it odd that there was no clock in the room. Price is right for what we got. There is a wonderful paved pathway just outside the hotel that goes along the Lake Michigan shoreline for 5-6 miles well used by runners,walkers, and cyclists. Initially we went down to the dining room and were told we had a 30 minute wait so we biked the trail and returned an hour later. The dining room is clean and pleasant with view of Lake Michigan. We were 15 minutes after being seated before we got water and another 10 before we finally asked for a server and ordered breakfast. The food was fine but done arrive in any hurry. read more

Terrible experience! Booked a lakeside view room and our view was of the highway and the very edge od a muddy beach. The rooms on the other side of the building actually had a decent view. This business leached more money out of us for a subpar view. Staff is extremely slow moving taking over 15 minutes just to check out. At the restaurant our order did not come out for 35 minutes. All other tables were served first. By the time we received our order one plate was incorrect, and their "2 egg omelet" was smaller than a piece of toast. We were then overcharged for our meal and restaurant staff were just as slow moving as the hotel front desk. Overall terrible experience. Would not recommend. Exercise caution and plan for extra time for everything when staying here. read more

We have stayed at this hotel with a fair amount of regularity over the past 30 years. It was the home to our wedding reception. Having said that, time has not been kind to the Lighthouse Inn. In room HVAC is consistently bad. Humid and not able to cool in the summer, often broken, like on this trip, in the winter. They clearly don't have a CRM to flag regular customers. Each time I check in, I am asked "have you stayed with us before?" For the record, we had a 4 day stay in August, a four day stay in September, a three day stay in October and this November trip is a three day stay. Do I expect them to remember every guest? Of course not. I have spent thousands of dollars at this tired motel - expect to be treated as just another random visitor passing through. For comparison, the Baymont motel in Manitowoc is in similar tired condition but has cheaper room rates. The Cobblestone Inn in Two Rivers is much newer and modern, but commands a premium price for such a small town. Out of fairness, maintenance had our in room HVAC fixed within 30 minutes of raising the issue. Faster than the time it took to eat breakfast at the adjoining Waters Edge restaurant. read more

We enjoyed out stay at the Lighthouse Inn. The price was resonable and our room was pleasant, if dated, as others have noted. We had a great view of the lake from our room, but it's too bad the window isn't larger to facilitate enjoyment of the view. But there is a back stairway to the lake side of the building and the lake is right there, just the other side of a stone breakwater. We had a very nice dinner at the attached restaurant (we were tired and very happy not to have to go looking for a place to eat) and we had a great table with a widow overlooking the lake. Breakfast, included with our room, was also served in the restaurant, a nice change from the usual hotel buffet. The limited choices for breakfast turned out to be very good and I had the best cup (actually an entire pot) of tea I've had at a restaurant in a very long time! High quality tea was provided and properly hot water. If you're not a tea drinker, you don't know how rare this is. If you have time, be sure to visit the Hamilton Wood Type and Press museum just down the road; we loved it! They had an international exhibit of wood type prints on display while we were there and we were given an excellent tour of the collection. I plan on going back for a workshop some day. read more

Great stopping point between Milwaukee and Door County destinations. The restaurant has wonderful waterfront tables from which to watch the seasons on Lake Michigan. The food was well-prepared and presented. The service was very friendly. We will return when we take this route north along the coast. read more

Stayed in the inn on our way to door county. It was old school. As some would say; no school like the old school. Dated inn and room but you know what, I was ok with it. Even though it was dated, most things seem to be in working order and in good shape. If you stay you get a free breakfast in the restaurant. By golly, I thought that was pretty awesome. Such a let down.... The Lighthouse Inn is located on an amazing spot right on Lake Michigan. The restaurant, bar and meeting rooms all have an awesome overlook at the Lake. It also has a hotel attached so it should be a great place or destination for meal, a night out or perhaps to host a party or wedding. We were given a gift certificate as a Christmas Gift and were told good things about the place. To be honest my wife and I had not been here for at least 15 years, even though we live within 30 miles. Mainly because we have not heard a lot of about the place... Good or bad. The people who got us the gift however, told us that they had a great meal recently. (which turned out to be lunch). We entered on Thursday Night around 6:30pm. We were greeted by a hostess and our waitress. The waitress gave me two menus (weird) and told us we could sit anywhere we want. We walked into the dinning area to find NO ONE! We where the only guests in the restaurant the entire length of our meal! We chose seats that looked out over the lake. It was dark out, but you could still make out the ice stacks that had formed outside on the shore. In Summer, when it stays light out longer, I would imagine that this would be a choice seat! The menu was extensive, but nothing seemed to be something that would have been prepared fresh at the restaurant. The pictures looked like they were (professionally) clipped from a food web sight and made into a menu. Prices were reasonable. The meal started out great. The bread was warm and tasty, so was the soup. The Salad was also pretty good . It was the main courses that let us down. My whitefish was "fishy" tasting and my wife had Sole with what was supposed to be a white cream sauce. When it was delivered however, the fish was covered in brown gravy! It was not a pleasant combination, this gravy seemed much better suited for pork or beef.... Not fish! Because we were not sure if we misread the menu we didn't say anything to our waitress. (Our bad). But as we left we saw a copy of the menu and it clearly stated white sauce. Did they not have the sauce available? Did they have a misprint on the menu? May be another 15 years before I find out! read more

We stayed for two nights right around Christmas 2019. Two adults, a 14-year-old, and 11-year-old. When we arrived, the front desk/reception area was closed, but they had personally delivered our room key to our in-laws in town, which was a wonderful touch. Being on the ground floor, we worried a bit about security because the front doors of the building were just open/unlocked all night for people checking in, since the reception area was closed. There is no automated key card device or anything modern at the hotel front entrance. The hotel is in need of updates: carpeting, bathroom floor tiles, furniture, decor. But the place was very clean, and the staff we encountered were very friendly. The restaurant onsite offers gorgeous views of Lake Michigan. read more

This review is for the Lighthouse Inn Restaurant, not the Inn, and I have to say I am sad to see other negative reviews because our experience was quite delightful. Lighthouse Inn is not fancy, it is not pretentious and it is not creating 'foodie' foods. What I experienced was an incredibly kind server (she even gave us two, portioned plates when we split an entree), yummy cheese curds, good French onion soup, light and fresh perch (trust me, I know if it's been frozen) and a great view. I would stick with the fresh fish and local dishes. The prices were the best part; beer, entrees, appetizers and soup for four and we were still under $70! Cha-ching. In fact, we're going back this weekend with our in-laws. Tip: Two Rivers is the home to the ice cream sundae so be sure to order one up during your visit. read more

This place is truly a hidden gem in Wisconsin. My fiancé and I were renting bikes from here (which is really cheap by the way like so much better than any other bike rentals we have ever had) and our chain broke that was out of the hotel and our control. The owner of the hotel literally drove out without hesitation to pick us up with his personal vehicle and then proceeded to completely free us of our charges while letting us get a new bike and spend the rest of the day biking by the beach! This place just screams hospitality and kindness. IF YOU ARE VISITING YOU NEED TO CONSIDER THIS PLACE! The staff is so kind and the hotel is just lovely with great restaurant food and such a beautiful view right by the lake. Also they have the most adorable dog named Thor behind the desk and he truly is a crowd favorite and so loving to all the guests. read more

Very disappointed. Three couples took the Badger over from Michigan for a mini vacation. The rooms are okay, a bit dated but the beds are comfy and we had a view of the lake which was nice. Made reservations for dinner at 6:15, sat there for 20 minutes before we could flag down a waitress to see if someone could take our orders, an hour later we still didn't have our salad. 2 1/2 hours later we finally got our meal. My husband had the stuffed sole which he said was rubbery and tasted like flour. two of us had the perch which was overcooked, as was the shrimp that another person got. Our other friend had the meatloaf and he said it was good. When we got our bills, they did comp a couple things and the waitress said that two of their cooks walked out and a waitress and manager were cooking. Had we known this in the beginning we would've gone somewhere else. read more

After passing the Lighthouse Inn many times over the years, we booked a room on our way to Door County. Pulled into the Inn at 1 pm after driving from suburban Chicago. My wife and I have been fighting a nasty summer cold- great for Door County vacation- n she just wanted a bed to sleep in. Jan at the front desk said rooms weren't ready but she'll call my cell to let us know when room is ready around 4 or 5. I asked if there was anyway we could get in ASAP since my wife wasn't feeling well. Jan did her magic and we where in a room by 1:30! That's service and compassion all in one! Large room, 2 queen beds clean with view of Lake Michigan. Thanks to Jan n her manager we are happy travelers. We'll be back! read more

For a few New Years Eves in a row, my husband and I looked forward to spending our night at the Lighthouse Inn. It has a fantastic location and a very picturesque dining room. We enjoyed the kitschy feel of the establishment. And, as the holiday again approaches, I find myself wishing we didn't have such an awful experience that dictated our choice to never return to the Lighthouse Inn. To be brief, the staff simply did not care that night. Our bed was not a queen bed as we had reserved, but a double. When we asked about it, the desk staff said it was a "hotel queen". Um, that's not actually a thing. We shrugged and went on with the evening. We had reserved the usual New Years Eve package and our room did not come stocked with the "champagne". We asked for it and it was delivered. We had reserved a table for two, and it was not ready. We were asked to wait, which we did until we realized they weren't going to come back to tell us our table was ready. So we again approached the host station and..."oh yeah", our table was ready. The dining room was not busy, and our assigned table was set for four people. It was also on the upper level, right to the kitchen door in the heart of server traffic and right in line with the winter breeze blowing through via the main doors. Not romantic, accurate, warm, pleasant or what we had reserved or expected from our previous visits. We asked to be seated in one of the many empty tables near the windows below, but we were told those were reserved (for people who were not us, apparently). Yet, these tables were set for breakfast the next day and were never occupied that evening. Our sides were ice cold. We did not get bread. When we asked for it, the bread was cold and hard. We kind of felt that we did something wrong. We had really tried to resolve each issue and were pleasant. Yet, we had a pretty awful experience and asked to speak with the manager...who would not speak with us but gave us a very small discount on our meal. Kind of heartbreaking because we really loved this place, told all our friends but...after this surreal, unpleasant New Years Eve we won't be returning. read more

View was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and the place was very clean. We got the chicken panini and a burger and we were so eager to eat, we forgot to take pictures. If there was one thing we didn't care for, it was having to pay an extra $2.50 for cheese and bacon on an already $9 burger. A little pricey but it was delicious! I have mixed feelings about my visit today. I've eaten at Lighthouse Inn before and loved it. Today we went there for lunch and although the perch plate was fantastic, the waitress was less than friendly. So, go to the Lighthouse Inn for the food, and pray the waitstaff is in a good mood, because it's a buzzkill otherwise. read more
