One thing that I appreciated hearing from her is that anytime I needed a break, I could let her know. That gave me a lot of ease and I felt comfortable telling her when I needed a break or when things were too much. She's very intuitive in that way. She let the bridal party take breaks and she checked in with me when needed about what was next. She worked well with other vendors. Her close up photography is outstanding with details...ties, jewelry, vows, you name it. Outstanding and incredible. Overall, communication was decent leading up to the wedding. She reliably responded to emails within 24 hrs business day which I appreciated because many of my vendors weren't that way. The not so good: Holly uses a clunky program to communicate via email with her clients. Even though she reliably responded within 24 hours, searching our emails with her and viewing things like our invoice and our contract was a pain. You have to create usernames and passwords, and reading previous emails with her were a mess to search and read. Her program isn't user/client friendly. I am totally 100% for businesses to document things in writing so I get why she uses the program, but it's just a poor program. The best case in point about this is that the program automatically generated an email to my fiance and I about a due final payment to be paid online. At first we thought this was helpful so we faithfully paid the remaining balance online. But then we got a panicked email from Holly saying our contract says we needed to pay cash or check and that there are huge service fees for paying credit card. It ended up being a huge pain for both us and Holly to figure out...we were irritated (as was she!) About the fact that we were asked to pay online by credit card. When I pay...I don't generally look back at the contract and read the fine print about whether to pay cash or check...not when I'm juggling multiple vendors and multiple contracts and payment due dates. The contract in it of itself is not easily accessible without having to dig In a myriad of emails to find the login for the website and then actually login. Finally, Holly's pricing covers up to 8 hours of photography. At the end of the day I kind of wish I went with a photographer that covered whole day photography instead. We had to pay an extra hefty sum to get Holly to stay and take pictures of our reception and our sparkler exit. The reception pictures we had to pay extra for were golden and so treasured because there were things that went on during our reception that we didn't even know but she captured wonderfully. The sparkler photos were kind of a disappointment and didn't look great (people were too spaced out, the framing of the photos were poor). The extra money we had to pay for Holly to stay a couple extra hours were worth it mostly for the dancing photos and group photos she took, but definitely not the sparkler photos...which kind of made me wonder if it would have been better for us to pay for a photographer that included whole day services. Overall we do recommend Holly as she is a great day of photographer. There are a couple things we wished were different but nothing absolutely groundbreaking. We received our photos about 1-2 months after our date and there were about 1,000 photos! Some of them were duds as expected but some will end up on the wall!

I met Rosy through a friend and when I was looking for amazing photographers for my daughter's 1st birthday, our mutual friend recommended her. I booked the shoot during a blizzard but Rosy was there and excited to do our shoot. Her studio gives off a fun, retro vibe and exudes Rosy's crisp, clean photography style. My daughter was TERRIBLE during this 30 minute shoot. I thought the pictures would come out blurry due to her all-out craziness but when I got the proofs I was blown away. Rosy not only managed to capture beautiful pictures of my baby girl, but pictures that capture her personality. I don't know how she worked her magic to get these amazing shots but she moved around with my daughter and honored the craziness that comes with a toddler, which I was so grateful for. I have most recently done a family photo shoot that also included a few engagement pictures at the DIA. Rosy knew exactly what style I was going for and knew where to take us to get the best shots. We now have a 1 year old and a 4 year old but she again managed to snap the perfect shots between toddler melt downs and run offs. We selected one of the hottest and humid days of May but our pictures are nothing short of magazine worthy and again, capture our family's personality and bond. She is simply amazing at what she does and adds a sense of calmness that is appreciated when you are preoccupied with perfectly capturing your most important life moments.

With my fiance living several thousand miles away, we had set up a week and a half of all-wedding madness with appointments around the clock including one with Silver Lights Studio who had been recommended to us by some friends. Setting up the appointment was easy. Rosy and Shaun are located quite a while away from us in Allen Park but we arrived to a cute studio with vintage touches and bright accents - it's a happy place. We discussed our needs, our expectations, pricing and everything included in their packages. I'll be the first one admit that I am not an easy person to please but impressing my Dad is even more than a challenge. He's extremely quiet and doesn't seem to express his opinion but he liked their drive and their creativity, the brightness of the colors and their all around-fun attitude. Their albums are of high quality, their hourly rates are fair and they're okay with shooting outside of their 'quirky fun' style - they're flexible and open to ideas. After weighing our options, we signed on the dotted line. We took our engagement photos with them a few weeks ago at the DIA which is of particular interest to me. We took photos outside and inside and both Rosy and Shaun came along with plenty of ideas for our shoot (which we were happy to give a 'yay' or 'nay' to) and the open-mindedness to take a few photos in areas we had in mind (like in front of the Diego Rivera mural which is a personal favorite of mine). Although we were somewhat stiff at times they made us feel relaxed and open and we ended up having a lot of fun. They're a new studio and always so busy with clients but they take the time to address my concerns, answer my questions and take notes on my ideas even though my wedding is next year. She is a super fantastic photographer who does weddings, engagement photos, senior photos, family, kids - all that fun stuff. She does some of the posed type photos, especially if that is what you are looking for - but she excels in taking photos with a little more artisic flair, photos that truly capture people in the moment, and photos of the potentially missed details. We did engagment pictures with Amanda and our wedding photos in 2007. My sister used her for her wedding in April of 2009, and she is doing two friends weddings in 2010. As you can see, the whole word-of-mouth business works amazingly well for her. Amanda's personality sold me on her services even moreso than her work. My husband HATES having his picture taking - so when we met with Amanda and it was obvious how awesome and hilarious she is, it became obvious that she was the perfect choice for us. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed. (And it helps that her prices are more than reasonable) Our engagement pictures were super fun, and a great way to get my husband even more warmed up to Amanda prior to the wedding. We brought our dog along with us and she took some pictures of us with him- for the record, she is great at photographing animals too. We had a few hundred pictures when she was done- and she releases the rights to the photos so you can make copies however you want, as many as you want, as cheap as you want. Bonus! Wedding day - Amanda met us at my parents house to take some "getting ready" pictures. She then followed us downtown Detroit to photograph the wedding, and to Woodward between the Fox and Comerica Park for some more fabulous pictures. Amanda is not afraid to do what she needs to do to get a good picture. For one of the photos that I posted to this listing, she was literally lying down in the middle of Woodward to get the best angle. Now, I should mention that she was sick as a dog through all of this. Her personality still sparkled and shined, but it was obvious that she was not doing so hot. If I remember correctly, she came to our wedding after being in the hospital for a while. Needless to say, she wasn't able to come to the reception, but sent her now-cohort Jen to take over. I think this was one of a handful of times that Amanda has had to send in a replacement. Sad as I was that Amanda wasn't going to be able to join us, I was definitely pleased with the way Jen covered our reception. She tooks tons of pictures and didn't leave until she was sure we had gotten every picture we wanted. My sisters wedding went equally well, and she was very happy with the end results. I give her credit too, because my sisters videographer was a pain in the a$$ and Amanda was very professional in not telling him just how obnoxious and sucky he was. :o) We hope to have Amanda do some family pictures for our sons first birthday in the summer- if she can capture adults and dogs, I am sure she can capture some amazing things with cute little buggers too. Amanda is awesome - I think that with most of her customers, she becomes not only their photographer but also a friend. Love her.

Initially, upon my decision of going with Special Moments, I met with Patrick A. in the office, and he was just super nice, and awesome about explaining every aspect of the process to me, finding a package that fit my budget and needs, and he even was nice enough for giving me a little deal because of my husband being active duty in the military. He did not have to do that, and that's what really cemented my decision to go with them. Carrie B. was my photographer and she was great about keeping in contact with me about any and every question and concern I had during the entire process. She was super adaptable to the style of photos I wanted. The family photos were super pose-y, which is great for frames and family, and then she took AMAZING photos that were more candid and unconventional, which my husband, friends, and I prefer. She had a great personality, which was HUGE for me, because my husband and I are so awkward and uncomfortable being in front of the camera, so she made us feel less nervous with jokes and directing us where to put what appendage and how to tilt our heads and constantly telling me, "Jenni, oh my gosh stop crossing your eyes!! haha!" We even ran into a little situation right before the reception where there was another wedding's family blocking a staircase that is used for photographs. Not sure why, but the family became very rude with the wedding party when we asked them if we could borrow the staircase for 5 minutes for pictures. They became aggressive and started insulting my wedding party, and I was beside myself, because honestly, what a nightmare. Carrie B. came to the rescue and politely confronted the family and explained why we needed the staircase. She just took charge! And they listened! I was like...woah, okay, you go girl! I was totally impressed. Carrie also worked with my DJ to make sure the wedding schedule happened in such a timely manner that I did not have to worry about going over my time limit, and paying for an extra half hour or so to get all the major shots I wanted. She just kept things going right along! After the wedding, I was constantly in touch with Kristi in the office via phone and email. Yes, I am a control freak, and I had a million requests and questions, but she was always such a pleasure to talk to, and she made everything happen! She always responded to my emails within minutes, and gave me peace of mind. I got my online proofs within days. My prints, High Resolution Disk, and Coffee Table Book are all to DIE FOR, and I had them in my hands within a month after my wedding!! Kristi and I were constantly joking about which pictures to select for the prints and books because I had so many good shots to choose from, I swear I couldn't have done it without her help.
