I have mixed feelings about this gym- of the ones I've tried on Long Island (Suffolk and Nassau),…read morethis is one of the better ones. But it's not a high bar. Staff here is really friendly I will say. Not really the cleanest LAF No one re-racks their weights. The way they rush you out at closing time (overhead announcements every 5 or less minutes), you'd think the staff could take the time to rack the weights. It can get REALLY busy. I try to go during non-peak hours but even then... they could really use more machines. The bathrooms are okay, or the cleanest but expected for a public area I'd think. It's about the gym goers as much as the cleaning staff though. Gym goers though tend to be pretty friendly I find. So.. not the best not the worst

Based on stories that I've heard, I always thought that LA Fitness was the one of top tier gyms…read morearound. Until, I found out that it was not or at least this particular gym location wasn't up to par. It is disgraceful to see two different gym equipments being operated as if nothing is wrong with either equipment. Safety should always matter. One equipment has no seat cushion and two barbells was used in place of where the seat cushion should've been. I can't imagine how uncomfortable a workout may be for someone who may want to complete a workout while seated with longer repetitions. The second machine, someone put a barbell under the seat cushion of the lat pulldown machine, I guess for the purpose to level it or to make up for a missing part. La Fitness members pay MONTHLY dues and ANNUAL fees so there is NO reason why equipment should be out of order at any given time. Things happens all the time but the best way to rectify issues is to address them and get them fixed ASAP. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable to paying customers who come to work out with good quality equipment. LA Fitness, you have to do better!

This is my regular gym. I'm relatively happy with it--it's a bit rough around the edges. Decent amount of cardio equipment but if you come during the busy times (after work, after 10am on the weekend) you might have a tough time getting anything. My favorite part is the cardio mezzanine which overlooks the gym floor. Each cardio machine has a TV with cable and even a channel devoted entirely to watching the playroom where kids can be babysat while their parents work up a sweat- made especially for overprotective mothers. The classes are decent- I used to love Sonia's Pilates class (you could almost never get a spot to put your mat) but I stopped going when she started talking more and teaching less. Also Buddy's Cardio Funk is a great laugh, fun way to work out. I have taken 2 spin classes- one with Sonia who is a drill sergeant and Merri who's a lot of fun but none of them match up to the teacher I had in DC (she made spin actually FUN, which is nearly impossible). For those of you who like protein shakes and the like- there's a small bar where they make your pleasure after your workout. Water and other drinks as well as granola and powerbars are sold at the front. All in all a 2.5 but I'll give em a 3. They certainly work hard enough for it. also make a point to thank Darren (I believe that's his name) he's the custodian. He's a doll and makes everything so clean with a smile on his face. He deserves recognition.
