Solicited various quotes from three…read morecontractors and they were all over the board on price and weren't really forthright with my questions. Every time I said I wanted to do something the price went up even though I was only reinforcing what I wanted before they even quoted. Guess they didn't understand the word custom. We wanted Contractors ideas and the wow factor but even though they all said they had designers no such effort came forth in the quote. Since I had to pick everything out myself and did all the legwork i decided to "be my own Contractor sourcing my own materials and SubContractors. I searched far and wide for materials and saved myself $15k. Next I had to locate subcontractors to do the work. I found "Straight-line Painting and Tile" who did tiling, painting, heated flooring, and carpentry work. Plumbing was "Faith Plumbing", Shower Glass install was "Toler insulating", and electrical was "Wired Up Electrical". and the Ambrosia Maple hardwood was sourced from Danny Hylton in Goode. I even sourced the exact tub new on Craigs list (NC) for $1,000 saving from a local quote. This group worked extremely well together to complete the project and saved me $10-$15,000 in contractor project management which i could than apply to more upgrades. On top of all this I installed a top of the line schluter heated floor, curbless shower, and lifetime warranty rubber sealed system which was critical for the Thermasol steam shower and digital control system with touch control shower valve system. All the other contractor wanted to put in a standard rubber shower stall unit and I wasn't confident it could handle the steam unit. Doing it myself covered the extra $5k to put in the a schluter system. Wiring included fixtures, wiring for all new electronics, heated floor, and new fan with UV 24/7 mold and bacteria killing system. Plumbing included Toto bidet toilet with heated seat, pre cleaning, auto flush, and carbon air purifier and the Thermasol steam and digital shower unit. Straight line tile is a Tile Installer Perfectionist". Toler glass shower installer said he has never seen such a level floor system. Within 1/16" which is unheard of. Straight-lines expertise was critical in helping me to schedule each of the subcontractors work to keep the project moving. I pretty much did all this work on a time and material basis knowing that errors would need to be corrected or that unexpected issues would need to be paid for. The other option would be hard quote with built in rework cost for unknowns that may not even happen. Doing the Project Management work myself saved me $10-$15k for unknown so I didn't have to cherry pick what the subcontractors were billing me. I found each of these contractors to be extremely fair and reasonable with their charges. Toler Insulating charged me 1/2 the quoted price on the 3/8 shower glass unit and install than what I could purchase the same unit for on the internet without installation. Wasn't expecting that Benny and definitely a place Contractors will use to beef up their quotes. I would highly recommend any of these subs to handle your custom bath remodel. The master bath is equally as impressive but I didn't have "before" pictures to show and it included heated floor units. Just thought I would share as my experience was great with these guys and we ultimately got the WOW factor we were looking for. The bottom line is I used some of the $25k saving to get the latest and greatest custom features and these sub contractors are experienced on how to install the latest and greatest systems.

Our rental management company called them a day or two before Christmas 2024 to handle a simple clog. Before I explain current rating, let me say this. Jason Light had been to this property for the exact same clogged area several years earlier. At that time within a short time he determined that the old 1950s 2" galvanized pipe terminated just below a toilet flange in the basement. He removed the toilet, cleared the clog, and replaced the toilet. He gave a reasonable price and we were happy. This time, albeit right at Christmas, one of his technicians came out. That representative tried a simpler approach and failed to clear the clog. TOTAL FAILURE!!! According to the tenant, that visit left the clog worse. They also billed for the service despite failing to improve the drainage in any way. To add insult the management company passed on Lights estimate of $4326 to tear out and replace that section of line. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? After getting this news, I called Jason to discuss. After he talked to the technician, he contacted me back to tell me that a section of the line was corroded out. I might add that Jason should have immediately offered to come see the problem or otherwise address. Instead he stated that Lights was on a big job and would not be available for two weeks. I then called other plumbers instead of trusting the first prognosis from Lights. Well, this is where I lost total faith in Lights. The other plumbers replaced the line an unclogged for less than $750. In fact, the clogged area was freed within 10 minutes of arrival and only cost $300. The replacement portion did not even need doing, but I asked for it to be done of my own accord. There was no corrosion in the line. Jason will undoubtedly recognize this property and the situation. It pains me to place this review because I really liked his work several years ago. I have not called him back for the third time for this instance, because he told me he was too busy to get back to me for two weeks anyway. Despite two calls back to him he gave me no assurance or initiative that he would stand behind his company's work. I have removed Lights from property management calls to any property I own. There are plenty other options. Please see my review of at least one better company. That other company was awesome, and has records on the property to avoid overcharging and/failure in the future. I really do hate ripping a small business, but facts are facts. I can just see an older or more naive customer getting shafted by such practices. I hope this plumber will at very least improve their customer service and communication game.

Insulation under the house was removed along with pipes that were left hanging and broken, large holes in kitchen walls way above where water was, upper cabinets pulled away from wall laying on refrigerator they did not repair the damage.
