Fine for office and workers, not happy with over all services received from for dental needs. I just experienced the most painful shots I've ever experienced in my whole life. For what? To have a root pulled and now missing a lot of my gum and looks awful and now I don't want to be seen in public. Now I don't have the ability to chew my food so I have to swallow food whole. In Oregon my dental team made sure when I had a tooth pulled I still had the ability to chew food on the other side of my mouth. Not here, not only are the most painful extractions I've ever had, but now feel like a low life and with it being 4k for an implant, I know I will never have the funds to get it corrected. I arrived in Kauai from the mainland on vacation with a broken tooth which occurred on the flight. Initially I thought I'd be ok as it didn't hurt but a sharp edge began irritating my tongue. This, of course, occurred on a Friday afternoon. I was contemplating my options which included but not limited to buying a dremel tool and doing a little self dentistry! Fortunately my wife insisted I look for a dentist. The closest and highly rated Dr. Allen was my first call. They were wonderful about fitting me in before closing and Dr. Allen painlessly, efficiently, and affordably "patched " the defect and now I'm enjoying a regular diet in paradise. Lihue Dental saved my vacation. I arrived from the mainland in tremendous pain caused by a badly abscessed tooth. Desperate for relief and knowing no dentists on the island, I sought out the closest office I could find. I had no expectation of getting an appointment and even if I did I felt I was rolling the dice when it came to the care I might receive. But boy oh boy did I strike gold! For starters the receptionist was both welcoming and ever so helpful. And within less than an hour I found myself being treated by Dr. Ameer Eghbarieh who turned out to be not only highly skilled but also a totally delightful soul. And when do you use words like "totally delightful soul" to describe your dentist? After a couple of x-rays it was clear the abscess was caused by a dead nerve and that a root canal would be needed. Since I had already suffered through a number of these procedures in the past, I fully expected this to be a lengthy, painful and expensive process. To my total surprise and delight, Dr. Eghbarieh was able to drill, pin and patch me in roughly and hour and with the slightest discomfort. As for the expense, it was certainly no more (and probably a few hundred dollars less) than my. regular dentist would have charged me back home. If I lived in Kauai this is the place I would go for all my dental care. And Dr. Eghbarieh is the dentist I would request. In fact I might just fly back over here the next time my teeth start acting up. It's not a bad excuse for visiting this beautiful island. read more

This was the absolute worst dental experience I have ever had. The environment had an odor and there are no private rooms, the chairs are lined up and I was seated next to 2 other patients being seen as I had to listen to all of their dental health situations. I explained to the nurse that I was experiencing a toothache and found that it had become difficult to floss in a particular spot. I suggested it may be due to my impacted wisdom teeth. She then proceeded to ask me my age and tell me that I am a "late bloomer if I still haven't removed them." Dr. Allen then came in and said that he doesn't know if anything has changed because he doesn't know what my teeth looked like before. I explained to him that I have been using the same floss for years and recently noticed that the floss keeps breaking at this one spot, and did not used to before. He stated he did not believe me that my floss was breaking. I didn't know how to respond to such accusation (like I have nothing better to do than waste time at the dentist). He then suggested that I am using the wrong floss. I acknowledged that his floss was very good but that regardless, the changes in my mouth and pain are still present. He replied by sarcastically asking me if I need training on how to floss. Appalled, I replied no and asked if I could leave. As I walked out the assistant chimed "guess it wasn't your wisdom teeth." I let her know I'll be going elsewhere. I walked out laughing at this shocking experience as a decent visit to the dentist is just too much to ask for at Lihue Dental. Dr. Allen has been an amazing dentist for me while I was on Kauai and in Seattle. He re-did all of my silver filings with white amalgam and really took the time to make sure each bite was done correctly. I went back a few times as my teeth adjusted and he was meticulous in making sure they were comfortable and would stand the test of time. Seriously I have nothing but a terrible time with this place. I have anxiety about any kind of doctor and this guy is no help. I've gone in a few times for a filling and was told I was getting two fillings done on one side that day, then I was to schedule another appointment for a filling on the opposite side. Ok great, so I go in and get what I think is two fillings that I need, and go back and have to get another filling on the same side! The side I was to believe was already finished. He never did the second filling. So I'm irritated because now I have to numb the same side of my face again after being led to believe that one side as already finished. To be clear I specified that I wanted to do all the fillings on my right side and then come back to do the opposite side so that I would not have to numb the same side of my face repeatedly. After getting all of my fillings complete after THREE not TWO appointments one of them was incredibly sore and sensitive for weeks. I had a bruise on my jaw line from too many needle stabs in my jaw. (I have never experienced physical bruising from a basic filling before) Now I go back and try to fix my sensitive filling. Dr Allen starts filing down on my new filling without saying a word to me about what he plans on doing to fix it. I'm shocked, and ask him to stop and explain to me what's going on before just going to town in my mouth?? And he gives me attitude, I explain to him all of my terrible experiences at his office thus far and now I'm here trying to have him fix his own mistakes and he gives me attitude. I allowed for a small amount more of filing and after he "fixed it" IT HURT WORSE. He tells me it's my fault because I'm looking for the worst things to point out ?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME. YOUR ARE A DOCTOR. YOURE SUPPOSE TO BE A PROFESSIONAL!!!! No one likes to go to the dentist, show some fricken compassion for your patients! To top it all off, I paid cash for all of my co pays and his office staff have told me they have no record of my previous payments. WTF SERIOUSLY HEATED. I went my home town a dentist on the mainland and he finally fixed my sensitive filling WITH NO DRILLING OR FILLING but with an airtight coating because the filling wasn't even sealed properly. Totally not impressed with this place of business. JUST WAITING ON A CALL BACK ABOUT MY BILL BECAUSE APPARENTLY IVE ONLY PAID YOU GUYS 6 dollars still waiting.. after multiple phone calls from me to you guys and never a return call or answer to what's going on with me bill.. still.. waiting.. read more
