I really wish people would review this place more. I see TONS of traffic from people going here and the review counts don't match it. We recently went here to do the corn maze and pickup some pumpkins. I'm always amazed of how friendly and down to earth the staff are. It's like walking in to a small town and taking a break from the madness of working. What's crazier is to think that it's dab smack in the middle of a suburban area. We really need to show an appreciation for what this place offers. Between the honey, strawberries, pumpkins, sunflower garden, and corn maze... it's such a fantastic place to visit. We were invited by some friends to join them in pumpkin picking and let me just say, they had tons of pumpkins to choose from. There were a few different fields full of pumpkins and you got to pick whichever one you wanted right off the vine. They had a nice selection as well. I've been to other farms before for pumpkin picking and they don't even come close to this pumpkin selection. Awesome job to the owners! Also, we enjoyed a hayride and corn maze which was really fun. Prices were very reasonable and the kids had a blast! We will definitely be returning next year! read more

Had been there a few years ago and was pleased. Drove to pick strawberries. They didn't answer when I called but thought maybe because it's a farm they don't always answer. They had recently posted to Facebook so I figured they were open. Get there to find a barren field and a chalk written sign saying closed for the season. Yelp listed them as open as did their Google search. They could at least update their hours and conditions. read more

I overheard another mom on my son's soccer team talking about going pumpkin picking here. I looked it up and realized it wasn't too far from my house. My son needed a pumpkin for school and it was going to be a gorgeous weekend so we headed out. Very easy to get to from Portsmouth. Once we arrived we were greeted and told to take a pair of scissors and grab whatever we wanted. They gave us a large cart for our convenience. Its a pretty short walk to the pumpkin patch but many kids my son included rode there on the carts that were provided. We found a great pumpkin pretty quickly. It appeared there were two fields with pumpkins but we just stuck to the one. It was a very hot October day and we were severely overdressed. We didn't opt to do the corn maze but I think it was $5 for adult and something a little less for kids and free for kids 3 and under. The pumpkins were 60 cent a pound and our find came out to a little under $2. We will definitely return during strawberry picking season. read more

This was a really nice outing. They are very child friendly. I visited last fall with my and they let us wander through the corn maze loads of fun. The staff was patient, there were a lot of children in our group. Someone sang halloween songs with us and got us ready for a hay ride and tour of the grounds. We even got a chance to hop off and pick our own pumpkins out of the pumpkin patch. i cant wait to go back and pick fresh strawberries. read more

We have come here several times and are greeted with friendly hellos. When usually arrive rather late, almost closing time and they are kind enough to let us pick and point us in the direction of the ripest berries so we can get pie buckets full before time to close. They never lurk over you and don't seem to mind if your buckets are filled to the top but they just ask that you get only what can fit in your bucket which seems pretty fair to me. They also sell fresh jam that is pretty tasty . I haven't purchased any yet but they had some to sample and I was pleased. read more

Last Saturday morning was amazing at the farm. My 4 year old daughter was able to pick strawberries for half an hour and chase butterflies down the aisles. I had never been picking and the staff was very helpful. they didn't fret when I confessed that she ate a few while we were picking. The lady said that sampling is the best part of picking. For only $10 we got a whole bucket of giant sweetest berries that lasted all week long! Every Saturday my daughter asks to go to the farm again. read more

Went today with the whole fam dam. Based on some of the reviews, I honestly expected rather dodgy attitudes but thankfully got the exact opposite. All three of the people working the little stand were so very warm and didn't loom over us or care about the amount of strawberries in our bucket. There was no gate or anything either. We had a really great time searching for and picking strawberries here, although it was rather hot (not the farm's fault obviously). They even had a portable potty so that my small bladdered 5 year old could keep enjoying the strawberry fields. Would come back again and would totally recommend! Glad I didn't believe the negative reviews about this place. It was a fun way to spend the late afternoon with my sweet family, plus we scored some beautiful strawberries :) read more

Today was the second time this season we have decided to pick strawberries at Lilley. Both times the berries have been good and the fields have been busy. However, one practically rude member of the staff (or owner?) left us with a bitter taste today (pun intended). Before heading to the farm I had called about their hours, and was informed there were 2 fields open from 8-2 on Memorial Day. When we arrived the first field we saw was very busy, and noticing people picking on a second field we decided to check it out. Within 2 minutes a mild-aged woman yelled at us that this field wasn't open to the public (private picking only). There were no signs, but fair enough. However, remembering my phone call, I replied a little confused that we were told there were 2 fields. Her response was very inappropriate. She immediately laughed in our face, and flatly said "No you weren't." When I told her about my phone call she just said that was at a different location and we couldn't use this field. We had no problem picking enough berries to fill our bucket, but being laughed at and essentially called a liar was unnecessary. Perhaps Lilley should A) use signs or explain the boundaries when entering the farm B) be more specific on the phone, and C) Treat customers like paying customers. read more

I have been picking strawberries at the farms locations in chesapeake and suffolk for several years now. They always have great juicy berries, Last year was the first year I got yelled at for having "too many strawberries" in my bucket. I explained that my bucket was full and I was able to carry it by the handle without 1 berry falling out but, still got yelled at. It left a bad feeling. Now this year they have expanded this warning to signs and reminders form the sellers. If they are so concerned about someone getting "extra" berries in their basket why don't they weigh them? I am not bringing my children to pick with me as I do not think they will enjoy the experience of having to enter/exit the patch through a small gate opening because of employees waiting at the gate staring at us.I guess they are making sure that we don't have too many berries in our baskets. I do not feel that this is a healthy environment for a family. Can you imagine the horror of a child when an employee yells at them that they have too many berries in their basket? Will they be made to dump them out? I don't know and don't want to find out! The fun has been overshadowed by the greed :( I would never begrudge a business making money but trying to make sure no one has too many berries in the basket when there are always ones rotting on the plants doesn't make much sense. I'll find a patch that weighs the berries that makes it fair and fun for all. read more

From the Suffolk field: Took my own container that was acceptable last week. Today I was told I couldn't use it since it was from "the competition". Lady said but I'll take it and give you one of ours... then threw mine on the ground. So much for a relaxing farm experience. Was planning to pick 3 gallons but just picked one and drove an extra hour to the competition for a more hospitable experience. read more

Paid for my bucket inquired about the discount with return trip twice never told what that would be appeared annoyed by me asking. Did nothing that I don't' normally do on a yearly basis and was told I was " over" ...no Berries falling out of my bucket! I asked the oldest woman there would she like them back .. I didn't know I was doing anything wrong , which she replied no your fine .. I didn't tell you ahead of time .. She was speaking to my six yer old and that was nice to see . So I drove back with five dollars taking more time out of my day saying this should cover the " overage you were speaking of" ... I told her I would never want to take advantage .. She stated that maybe I should bring the bucket back before I leave ! .. She is older so I realize she may have already forgotten the part where I offered to let her take them back ... I told her I would not be back!! read more
