Too many attribute to the belief/practice of "there's something wrong with you but we'll make you normal", which is such a harmful message to kids already struggling to make it in a world created without consideration of them. It is unfortunate that health insurance companies are given a pass and mental health providers receive the brunt of the anger over payments. My own insurance took months to finally resolve claims and provide payment to my provider. The office was very up front about the potential for charges being my responsibility if the insurance refused payment, and I signed a document stating I accepted that risk/financial responsibility. Nothing tricky about that to a person with common sense. [Insurance companies can legally take back claim payments they've previously paid to providers up to 6 months from initial payment date.]
