I had read reviews about Dr. Mara that weren't so positive, but I decided to give her a chance. Here are my reasons for the rating: #1- Uninterested. First appointment was ridiculously slow. They had made me check in, but made me wait for 45 minutes to be seen. I was hoping to see Dr. Mara herself... but I wasn't given a notice that a male doctor would attend to me. #2- Unreliable. During my visit, I was asked the same series of questions probably 3 times... All my answers were written down, but still, they repeated the questions. There was a computer the doctor had in front of him to take notes, but he preferred to hand-write everything down. He was thorough in note-taking! That's a positive! (1st star ) #3- Unsanitary. I noticed snacks in the exam room. SNACKS! The medical posters on the wall look like they've been there for decade. And there were books all over the table. The equipment was definitely old. It did not make me feel comfortable at all! Sorry... #4- Unorganized. I was told I would receive a phone call from them saying that they'd referred me to a specialist (related to my concern). They said that they'll call within 7 days, and if they didn't call, they advised me to call them. Sure enough, they hadn't called me within 7 days, so I called them. I got my answers, at least. (2nd star ) What's funny is that I got a call A MONTH LATER saying they found a specialist for me. If you can, find a doctor somewhere else. I sure DID NOT FEEL CARED FOR as a patient here.

Initially, I was frustrated with all of the hoops that I needed to jump but Dr. Jerry Blake was patient with me and made sure that I would be taken care of. He was very attentive to my medical chart and history, he took the time to listen to all of my concerns so that they could get addressed, and helped me get all of the care that I needed. He explained all of my test results in detail and guided me to the next steps in my care. It was very easy to talk to him, he was very kind and friendly and he would respond in a timely manner to my messages. I greatly appreciate that I was assigned to this caring and amazing doctor here. The care feels extremely disorganized, and you rarely see the same doctor twice, which makes continuity of care almost impossible. They did not take the time to properly review or research patient history, and concerns were often dismissed instead of being addressed. They also were unable to assist with important state paperwork, which created additional stress during an already difficult situation. If you have serious or ongoing health issues, I highly recommend going directly to UC San Diego Health or another established healthcare provider that actually listens to patients and provides consistent follow-up care.

Dr. Angell entered the exam room, and the first thing he did was apologize for the wait, but honestly it's the weekend, and it IS urgent care, so wait times are expected. The whole appointment, start to finish, was fantastic. Dr. Angell was professional, patient, and explained everything well. He had a very calm demeanor, which I liked, but didn't rush thru the appointment either, which I also liked. He's personable, and down to earth as well. Thanks for the awesome visit! I just wrapped my 4th session with Doctor Tamoria and I have been nothing but happy with the results. Results are louder than complain that the office this, the office that, blah blah; stuff. Dr. Tamoria has been very personable to ME. Yes, I have waited more than I should but the way I see it is that the " patient needs to be patient". Having to find parking is also a pain but that's not the issue here, The main issue for her to fix your skin and for one to do one's homework and follow up her directions by the book and YES; It has worked for ME and my results are quite visible now and my proof are the pictures I would like to attach to this review. ( and I'm not even done with the treatment; YET ) Laser resurfacing is an expensive procedure and you actually need whatever skin care products she's recommending. The one benefiting from using the products is ultimately " YOU ". It's not a cheap system but " HELLO !!! " you need to protect your investment by investing in a maintenance kit. One can always decline the offer and not get it but then you'd be gambling with the treatment itself. The reality of the matter the skin care system that she recommends is not and does not come cheap; that's the actual price for it. One's got to do a lot of things to make one's skin glowy and luminous and you don't want to take it back to the sun and continue your old ways to just start all over. My pics speak for themselves. And when I did get my initial physical I had about 5 or so referrals recommended by the doc and I was told I'd get the referrals sent through the mail... waited several months and nothing was ever sent. Inconsistent care, inability to reach appointment coordinator, and overall lack of follow through for referrals made me have to seek care elsewhere.
