This very well may have been the best meal I had in Ireland. Give Lily House a chance -- we were hesitant due to the limited amount of reviews, but this was a great stop and added superb variety to our tasting experience while visiting Ireland.
The setting is quaint and intimate. The service was kind and informative. The server knew the answer to any questions, and knew just the right thing to say to connect certain items or ingredients to something we would be more familiar with.
Overall the experience is not lightning quick by any means, though not noticeably slow either. I don't think that's a bad thing, so i'd say set the expectation at having just the right amount of time to truly enjoy good company.
The food is fantastic. I can't believe that some of the best thai food i've had is now in Kenmare, Ireland. If you're an american tourist you may be disappointed to not find some "chinese"-american staples on the menu, but they do have a "General Lily's Chicken" which was absolutely top shelf. Crispy chicken, sauce packed with flavor. Fresh. Beautiful, yet simple presentation -- shocked i wasn't paying $20 more for this.
Shrimp Tom Kha Soup -- absolutely delicious and checks all the right boxes. This was the epitome of coconut curry flavor i know and love. Spice was just right.
Chinese Curry -- yummy. no cocunut milk in this, so it's more like a brown gravy.
Spring rolls -- best i've literally ever had. lighter on the cabbage compared to the common variation.
Note that I would consider myself someone who enjoys spicy food -- this is legit Thai. Which means HOT. The mild "one pepper" labels on the menu was the perfect amount of heat for me. I'm guessing the "medium" or higher would be too spicy for me to truly enjoy, and if it's too spicy for me it's probably too spicy for other boring white people like myself ;) read more
