I like shopping…read morelocally and giving my money to small independent shops instead of big national chains whenever possible, and Dexter is a good place for this. They have nice shady parks, a local history museum, and lots of independent shops, coffee houses, and restaurants. Parking is phenomenally easy-- and free. While I was here, I passed The Cookie Momster, a Victorian-themed gift shop, and a Bear Claw coffee on my way to the Dexter card shop. From there, I visited Christine's, a gift shop, and bought a butterfly finger puppet for my niece whose fourth birthday is coming up soon. From there, I strolled over to the Dexter Bakery and got a really good donut. If you're looking for somewhere cute and quaint to do some shopping or meet a friend for coffee or lunch, Dexter is an excellent choice.

They also had a lot of local art, jewelry, cards, candles, and more. It's a great spot for finding a gift for yourself or your favorite gal pals! Unfortunately I was not greeted when I came in nor when I was browsing, which I feel is such a small thing that can really make a difference when shopping. The person at the counter was with another customer, but even just a quick, "hi, welcome in!" can be so nice. That said, I would come back in the future just to check out what they have in stock.

They always have gorgeous window displays, the employees are always so happy to see you and the service is wonderful, and this shop is just so dreamy! Now they've expanded in there and they've filled the space with even more beautifully curated goodies, new and "found." There's a bit of everything in here, perfect for finding a gift for a friend, family, or a partner, or a little goodie for yourself. They've got beautiful art prints from independent artists, handmade ceramics, plus stationery, a bangin' candle section, lovely housewares and textiles like throws, pillows, and tea towels, plus jewelry, the list goes on and on. Plus when you shop here you're really shopping small, because most of what they carry falls into that category. If you go to their website you can take a look at a list of the artists they carry in store, and I love recognizing names of friends and people I admire in their respective fields. I found all kinds of items from local vendors like tea, jewelry, dog treats, some really cool mystery book dates, pottery, the list goes on. You would think that because everything there is from vendors it would be a little expensive but it's not there's a lot of craftsmanship put into the products making everything worth the price! Every time I go into the store, there are either new items to look at or old items that I overlooked. If you go, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to look around because it's very easy to lose time once you get in there!
