Lima is one of my go to spots when I am in Baltimore and feeling exhausted and too tired to cook. Their chicken is consistently seasoned the same. The side options are pretty standard and on par with others in this category. I have eaten here via takeout and doordash and nothing changes; however, the storefront has ample seating if you want to dine in and enjoy your meal. Overall, I think the pricing is decent and on par with the area. I visited this restaurant in the late evening near closing. The staff were friendly and had begun cleaning the store in preparation for closing. There was plenty of seating available for dining in. It was quiet and lit well, there were only 2 other patrons in the restaurant during my visit. My son enjoyed his steak tacos, they looked good. My daughter enjoyed her cheese steak although it looked small (I'm a native Philadelphian and may judge harshly ). My wife had a steak burrito bowl (sorry I forgot a pic) that she enjoyed and had enough to save half for lunch today. I had the 1/4 chicken with green beans and fried rice. I thought it was just ok. This was a yummy tasting steak sandwich. I could tell that the steak flavor was enhanced with some Peruvian flavor which I thoroughly enjoyed. The only thing I'd change is perhaps the toppings. For some reason, the sandwich was soaked despite me eating it right away in the restaurant. I'm not a fan of "soggy" bread so I'll ask for my toppings on the side and see how that changes things. Who doesn't know that charbroiled chicken is thee best? It's a no brained anytime you're craving grilled chicken. This is a favorite of ours when the wife and I don't feel like cooking. A whole chicken and two large sides feeds us pretty well. My wife prefers white meat so we get all white meat and the price doesn't jump tremendously. I'm a big fan of the mixed veggies(zucchini, squash, carrots and broccoli) so I always order an extra side of that. Growing up, zucchini and squash were not on the list of vegetables I liked but Limas does such a great job with flavoring/seasoning that they are now my favorite veggies. I decided to visit here after my boyfriend recommended the chicken burritos. We visited on a Sunday around 2-3pm, the restaurant was somewhat empty with about 8-10 other customers, service was a bit slow. But we ordered a chicken burrito with guac which rung up to about $12. It's similar to chipotle/Qdoba style where you can choose what you would like on your burrito. Except it's kind of opposite, which is sorta weird. So you go up to cashier and order and pay, then you walk down and tell the server everything you want. Whereas, at other restaurants you pick what you want first then pay. It was weird because i ended up having to go back to the cashier to get charged for guac. I think the set up would be better if they let you pick what you want first then pay at the end. I ended up getting brown rice (similar to fried rice with peppers, super tasty), black beans, chicken, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, guac, yellow and green sauce. The burrito was delicious and huge, super flavorful because the chicken and rice were seasoned to perfection. Make sure you get the yellow sauce and if you like it spicy get the green sauce. The burrito was not assembled well, unfortunately, it definitely wasn't tight enough, by the time i got home, it was a shattered mess and i had to use a fork to eat it. I'll definitely come back and get a burrito bowl next time, not worth the hassle. They also have horchata too, which was pretty delicious as well. RUDE EMPLOYEES: I just got hung up on three times by the same guy. Obviously he did not understand what I was saying. He passed me around to a different person multiple times and they understood me well but they passed me back to the rude employee who clearly had comprehension issues. On this first visit, the chicken wasn't as stand-out as old favorite Sardi's (found closer to DC) but the quality and value for a half-chicken plus two heaping sides (~$10) was solid. Chicken flavor and tender/moist was good. Sauces could use work (the green is the good stuff, the yellow tastes mainly of mayo). This was a surprising find hidden in one of the older, worn-out strip malls in the area. The restaurant feels new, with a clean, airy dining room and lots of seating. It's more than just pollo a la brasa, with a decent selection of Peruvian greatest hits, and some Americanized easy-eating food (tacos, burritos, rice bowls). You can get a reasonably-price meal (around $10 or less) for a quarter chicken and two sides and for a small upcharge can get half a chicken. In addition to their chicken, they have some Latino classics. My wife got lomo saltado (beef strips) and seemed to really enjoy it. Oh Lima's how I have been waiting for you to open. I have watched in awe, as I have gone to the grocery store and gotten my nails done as you were being fixed up on the inside preparing for me. Located in the same shopping center as the illustrious Aldi, the soon to be gone Babies R Us and the 5 Below, Lima's is a new fixture that sells pollo a la brasa, tacos, subs and the like. The interior is fairly large and welcoming, the staff are friendly. There are separate lines depending on what you choose to order, specials depending on need and a pretty decent selection of sides to pair with the chicken. Think rice and beans, fries, yuca...etc. A 1/4 white meat with two sides is less than eight bucks and it was a hella lot of food. The chicken wasn't too dry, and it was just tasty. I was trying to go light, so I had the mixed veggies, which were right up my alley, nice and crisp. The plantanos were sweet, some were a little too sweet for my liking. The only thing that I observed was that the food may have sat out for a bit, so if I return I would more than likely go a bit earlier. Ok, HERE'S THE DEAL: Be fore warned that if you ever get stuck in a long line at the Krispy Kreme doughnuts in Catonsville, you will end up going to Lima Chicken because the smells that wafted from that place over to the drive-thru are simply too intoxicating to resist. Apparently... That being said, I'm going to start out by saying that I was disappointed in the service I received today. My biggest issue is that I did not get what I ordered! Me and the wife ordered two POLLO PARRILLERO ( 1/2 deboned chicken served with your choice of 2 sides). We both ordered rice and beans for one of our sides, I got coleslaw for my other side and she got the red potatoes. You can imagine our disappointment when neither of us got beans... Also we did not get half a deboned chicken. What we got appeared to be one chicken breast that was butterflied so it appeared bigger... you ain't foolin' me LIMA. OK, OK, OK... All that being said the food we got was absolutely freaking delicious. I got the cilantro rice and the wife got fried rice (and yes, they were both supposed to heave BEANS) and both had amazing flavor. The Peruvian chicken was delicious and charbroiled (though mine was just a tad tough, but the flavor made up for it). My coleslaw was creamy, cold, and delicious and I also tried her potatoes which were Yum Yum Yum!!! OK, and now a sidenote about the amazing sauces that come with the meal. Lima chicken provides customers with about a zillion (8 to be exact) of these little cups of sauces. 4 of them were a green traditional spicy sauce and 4 were a yellow creamy sauce. Both were fantastic individually and even better together! That being said, who thought it was a great idea to serve people 500 million little cups? Why Lima chicken, why? Just use two of the coleslaw cups and fill them halfway with each sauce. I'm just saying, this is not an environmentally friendly approach to sauce distribution. But the people need the sauce so we need Lima chicken to do better with the distribution end of things. I literally love this chicken spot, something about charbroiled chicken tastes so good! They have a very simple ordering system online and that's usually how I get my food. My go to side is the green beans and i get double of that. I also recommend getting the green sauce, it may be a bit spicy for some people but it has good flavor for me. The only downside to ordering online is that you can't order multiple sauces online. Proud to announce that I was wrong. My initial review was wrong. I may have had an off day. I've recently been here three times in a week. And the food has been unbelievable and consistent. I get the 1/4 Dark Plate. I get their extremely fluffy white rice and a side of vegetables I feel like at that moment. UPDATE TODAY ON 3/24/2018: I got an email about a "special today"... Basically, it was $4.95 for 1/4 dark+1 side. Regularly, it's $7.95 for 1/4 dark +2 sides. The issue: 1 side is $3.25. So... through extremely elementary math... you can see why you pay MORE with their so-called special. This makes me upset and disappointed in the owners here because it makes you feel cheated as a customer.
