Now don't get wrong, I'm an advocate for maintenance, however on a previous Toyota which I serviced at this location I felt as if I was swindled as well, so I contacted a mechanic and they confirmed the additional service what was done was not necessary. The last few times I'm gotten my services done, they had been at Tuscaloosa Toyota. Looking at the bill I compared the same items charged which are publicly available for Hoover Toyota, and found that I was charged in several instances, 30% to 40% higher in charges. Been up here since 9:51am and I never been to a car dealership that takes longer than necessary just to change an oil and filter/ rotate tires, inspect wipers blades and to get it washed and detailed. Spoke with the people here to require on how long it'll be before we're done and they couldn't give me a direct answer. Unlike most car dealerships, they don't have any complimentary snacks except coffee, but you can spend your money on the vending machines. This review is not being written out of frustration alone it is being written out of deep concern, because the way Limbaugh Toyota handled our situation could have put my family's safety at real risk. Just two weeks after purchasing our vehicle, my husband brought it in on 10/31 because it was sputtering so badly it felt unsafe. On 11/1, he was told there was "nothing wrong" with it and was even told that he didn't know how to drive it properly. That was unprofessional, dismissive, and completely unacceptable and unfortunately, it was only the beginning. The problem returned almost immediately. The check engine light came on, and multiple diagnostic codes appeared through the Chevy app. We took the vehicle back on 11/6, only to be told that Limbaugh Toyota did not have the manpower or equipment to repair it and that we needed to take it to Chevy instead. But here is the part that every customer needs to pay attention to: When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, Sidney admitted that the diagnostic codes were cleared, even though their own report showed multiple issues. He handed me the paperwork confirming the problems, then told me to "drive it until the light comes back on." Clearing codes without fixing the issue is not harmless it is negligent. It hides a real problem, gives customers a false sense of security, and sends them back onto the road in an unsafe vehicle. After taking the vehicle to Chevrolet, we found out the truth: The issues included a faulty throttle body, a worn serpentine belt, and bad spark plugs all problems that required immediate repair. We paid $1,232 out of pocket for repairs that should never have been dismissed or ignored by the dealership that sold us the car. Now ask yourself: What could have happened if we had trusted their judgment and continued driving with those issues? The answer is alarming, and it is exactly why customers deserve to know how this dealership operates. We trusted Limbaugh Toyota to act with honesty, professionalism, and basic responsibility. Instead, we were met with dismissal, misrepresentation, and a complete disregard for safety. Because of this, I will be filing a formal complaint with Toyota Corporate and with consumer protection authorities. I was told I was approved for financing by ROBERT FONDREN. signed all paperwork with RASHAAD BROWN, paid my $500 down payment, and was handed the keys. Days later, the dealership claimed the loan was never approved, called the car a "loaner" (which I never agreed to), and secretly repossessed the vehicle at 3am without a proper notice or title transfer. The DMV status originally said "waiting on documents" and then mysteriously changed to "not found." No title submitted. No denial letter provided. Just lies, runarounds, and intimidation tactics. I love the automobile industry. Why, I was a part of it for over 40 years. I owned a company that developed, composed, designed, and facilitated "Soft Skill" training internationally for sales, service, and executive education. Our approach was always non-confrontational, consultative, and focused on more listening than talking. In those decades the industry has come so far for the better. Now, in retirement I like every other person with a car, must get my car maintained and serviced from time to time. Like going to the dentist, no one wakes up in the morning saying, "Oh boy, I can't want to get my car to the service department at the local dealership." Servicing and maintaining your car are much less sexy than buying a now one. Today I went to Limbaugh Toyota. I called yesterday for an appointment which is my personal approach. Please remember, I was in the business for decades and take it very seriously. I believe the team members make the dealership not just a nice facility. I also believe a GREAT Team Member and a GREAT Facility should be the gold standard. I drove in the service lane like every client and opened my door, stood up and waited. After a few minutes, a porter yelled at me, "Go see that guy behind the glass." This was a different approach then what I was used to receiving. I am usually met by my car with someone having a tablet or clip board. But ok, let's see the gentleman behind the glass. Yet this was my first Red Flag. I was told to "leave my keys in the car and he would get me in the customer lounge." He did not give me eye contact nor even asked my name. So much for personalized service, heck it is ok, it is only an oil change. That was red flag number two. I waited about 15 minutes in the customer lounge until I heard my name being summoned over the loudspeaker to the Service Advisors desk. I took the 15 steps walk to his desk. This was another first. I took my Honda in for service yesterday and the service adviser came to me which is normal, professional and kind. Red Flag number three. I was told very quickly that my vehicle which is 4 years old, 16,000 miles and no issues would have a maintenance cost of close to $700.00. No real justification, education, or presentation. Very matter of fact and it made me somewhat uncomfortable. Part of that was rotating and aliening my tires however no alignment document was provided which is the normal at any dealership I have ever gone to or worked with. I pushed back on the price and said, "That is too high!" Remember, I am still not clear at what was being done or why it should be done. I was expecting a oil change. I was asked, "What can you afford?" Game, Match, and checkmate. I felt like I was back decades ago negotiating for a new car. No salesmanship, no professional approach or justification of the importance of the work suggested. I was looking for education and skilled recommendations. So, I say thank you, and asked if my keys were in the car. I was told yes, got in my car and drove to another Toyota Dealership 25 minutes away. Folks I know this dealership and the owner. I was in this business for decades. I knew the owner's father before him. They are GOOD people and GREAT operators. They are honest and hardworking. However, that treatment I received was sub-par so I have choice where I do business and took my business elsewhere. My situation for what every reason might have been a one off, unique, and rare. I showed up 15 minutes early for my appointment, and dropped off my 4Runner with the service department. It's currently 12:06pm and I still haven't even received a QUOTE. Two and a half hours of sitting here and they haven't even started. What's the purpose of making an appointment if you aren't being seen in a REMOTELY timely fashion? I get they are busy, that's why I made the appointment AND showed up early. I only wish I could give less than 1 star. When I purchased my car, the salesman told me it would do several things that it will not do. When I went back to check with them, I was told those options begin in 2025, and I bought a 2024. When I asked to speak to Mr. Limbaugh, I was told he has people to handle this stuff that he wouldn't get involved. This explains the issue. People take their examples from their leadership, or lack thereof. If it doesn't mean enough to the owner, it certainly won't matter to the staff. There were failures across the US after this recall was done with many dealerships claiming no responsibility. I originally wanted to be present when the engine was cracked because I was hesitant on trusting them. My service manager, Brandon, reassured me they would do the right thing and the next day called and told me the service for a new short block engine along with the rental would be covered because they felt like it was most likely their repair that caused it. I have 2024 new brand car still 25,000 mileage on it. Someone hit my car from the back So I took my car to a Toyota body shop they fixed and repaired my car but my car transmission. Everything was perfectly normal and they charged me $11,000 they found the issue transmission, I saw my car from my phone, and showed me the transmission. That looks looking they are working on but they just wanted to make sure that they make money and that they didn't work very well and so bad if guys look at it in my opinion on I can't believe that they are mechanic or they repair the car. Bought a RAV4 about a month or two ago with my fiancé and it was a disaster from start to finish. We test drove one and loved it so decided to get one. They had to order it which is fine but did not order the trim that we test drove. Could just be a misunderstanding so whatever. We get the car, spend hours at the dealership just to be told we can't get it for the price we were quoted. It's not that much more so whatever. Wrote a check for $15,000 in the finance guy's office, handed it to him, and left with the car. Everything is fine for a few days until we get told they lost our check. They then made it sound like that is somehow our fault. When I pointed this out to the finance guy, he doubled down and said that we were just making things more difficult than it needed to be. The finance guy lost a check for $15,000 and spent the next couple of days telling us that it happens all the time and isn't a big deal, apparently unaware that check fraud is real. We heard from the salesman that the check was lost but the finance guy took days to reach out, and we never once received an apology. It was only when we asked for compensation and for them to look harder that they found the check. Then just a few days ago we get a notice that our last payment didn't go through. We submitted it online and even have a confirmation the payment went through. Called the help line, and when the robot needed help from a human, it disconnected us from the line. Until yesterday, the last time I went to Limbaugh Toyota was at 7 years old, when it was Jim Limbaugh. I remember him as a kind and fair person, but also a businessperson that didn't take any excuses. I never heard my parents EVER complain about Limbaugh. Sadly, people care about people a lot less in 2023 than in the 1990s. A recording will be on Youtube at some point. Yesterday, I had been referred to Limbaugh Toyota by Nationwide Insurance and Gerber Collision, for an appointment at 9am, which had been on the books since November 30th. It was to fix a problem with how Gerber installed a part, and Gerber was paying Limbaugh. Within 15 seconds of arriving at the Collision Center, I was greeted by Pat, the Collision manager, with "It was worked on by someone else? We aren't touching it! It's MY policy, I'm the boss. End of discussion! Have a nice day!" He said that in a rather aggressive and angry way, so I asked what was going on, why so angry, why so unprofessional. I don't have a clue to this day, why he got so angry with me, in such a short time, but that is not normal. He didn't even take a second to figure out what was going on. I went to the main dealer building to see if I could figure out either... why he was so angry with a person he has never met, or if I was in the wrong place. Nobody seemed to know of any appointment. Then Jeff, the Service Manager got involved, and called me to his office. We sat down, and I explained what occurred. I tell him that if I continue to be abused like this, I will be pretty vocal about how I was treated and let people know. He started raising my voice trying to say I threatened him. Thank goodness I recorded the discussion, because I didn't, and I wasn't using foul language with him either. I was telling him, as a customer, I find the behavior unacceptable, and then left his office. I went to try to find someone in a higher position, and was introduced to Kay. Kay was the only person in this dealership who actually tried. She's the Customer Relations Manager. She wanted me to tell Brian (the owner) about the issue, since he was nearby, so I did, but he didn't seem to care to hear it (like a brick wall), and directed me back to Kay. Kay heard me out, and tried to arrange a resolution, despite the poor behavior of management. I accepted her solution. I went to service, and let the gentlemen look at the issue. Issue couldn't be fixed because the part needed to be replaced a third time. They scheduled me for 10am this morning. I accepted, and left, intending on returning and everything being all good. 3 hours later while I was way up in Jasper with my brother on his last day in town for a while, I get a phone call from Gerber, because apparently Brian was determined to ruin the day. Brian told Gerber that I was no longer welcome on the property. That left me wondering....what...did I do... to deserve that? This is reinforcement that from the top down, Limbaugh doesn't like its customers, and feels that it can abuse them. I'm sorry that this historic business has went downhill, as it has. When we went to sign everything 2 DAYS AFTER THE TEST DRIVE there were more than 4,000. Shady. We got them to reduce the price some. I won't make this long and drawn out, so here is the jist they over charged me for the sale ( I still haven't received all of my money back), they agreed to fix things on the car that I purchased and they still aren't completely fixed to this day, when I test drove the car it didn't have cracks in the windshield, when the sales man came from supposably doing a $2499 inspection ( of which I had to read through my contract to find out about ) there were 3 dings in the front windshield, they dropped me off while my car was "being fixed" and did not come pick me back up, (when I spoke with the Mike he basically told me I was lieing and they did not have a service that dropped me off), they take everything personal and not as a business professional, made everything seem as if it was my fault when they are in the wrong. Took my car here to get body shop repairs as the lady on the phone sounded good and knowledgeable. To make a long story short I had to take it back 7 times for additional fixes (missed or that they caused). It needs to go back again but the head body shop manager said "NO". The most recent involved titling a car for a serviceman stationed in Alabama with an out of state residence and they were able to work through the DMV hurdles. Have to edit this because we found out 3 weeks later that they never sent paper work just held it for over 3 weeks. No excuse given so have to drop down to 2stars. After a wreck a couple of weeks ago a came back to work with Mike in collisions and Taylor in the service station. Both super super friendly and very helpful. My wife and I had a horrible experience at this dealership. We drove over 2.5 hours to this dealership because of the price on a specific camry we was looking at. I even called before I went , negioted a price over the phone with the salesman T.V. We agreed on the price and he said he would honor it, and when we got there and test drive it, we went to run the numbers and he clearly said the same deal in front of both of us of the agreed price on phone. Then he went and talked to his sales manager and tried to add 1k on the price plus all these nonsense dealer fees. I was totally upset after all the time I wasted to get there and he jacked up the price. On top of this,he tried to add a destination fee, which is a double dip to fatter there pockets. When clearly ,on the window sticker , it's already listed on the window sticker and they tried charging me again for it!!!$799 fee, plus a $598 doc fees which is another high charge fee!!! Listen, Oregon, New York, and Minnesota all charge $75 doc fee which is reasonable. Do not pay more than a $75 doc fee. RIP off dealership, and lied to me on price. I took my company car in to Limbaugh Toyota for service and repair. It's been there a number of times before. We send a number of vehicles to this dealership for repairs. The sunroof had cracks that had formed on the previous day. There was no sign of impact damage (believe me they looked for it.) I asked the service writer to consider filing a warranty claim due to what appeared to be a product defect. He refused to even consider it. He then pointed to the service manager, (Jeff Johnson?) who came out and his first words were "What's your problem". His next statement was "If you don't have an extended warranty you'll have to file an insurance claim." He also refused to even consider the possibility that there could be a product defect. The conversation went downhill from there. I never cursed or threatened him or the dealership in any way. I did discuss the concept of product liability from the standpoint of Toyota Manufacturing which I had studied in school to which he apparently took great exception. I mentioned that after looking on the internet it appeared that the "exploding sunroof" was a common problem and that perhaps several class action lawsuits might have been ongoing related to exploding sunroofs. It concluded with him having the service writer turn my car around and told me to leave. I made sure he knew the car was the Company's car that he was refusing to work on. He said he knew who the company was and he obviously didn't care. Jeff was rude, started the conversation confrontationally, and was purely argumentative from the first words out of his mouth. I hope it made him feel like a big bad man to refuse to service the car. He clearly was not concerned with helping me or the company that I work with in any way even though they service about 8 of our vehicles. I will use whatever influence I have to ensure that they get less chances to do our work going forward. I called and left a voice mail for the general manager to call me because I had experienced an unsatisfactory experience with the service department manager. Three days later they have of course not returned the call. Their actions speak so loudly that should they call, I will not be able to hear what they say. It's pretty obvious that they don't care about giving good service or the customer experience at all. I took the car to Hoover Toyota since he told me to leave. I had a 180 degree different experience. The service writer (Seth) was friendly and concerned about the problem. He agreed to have the remains of the sunroof examined for any obvious impact points and if none were found would then at least bother to submit a claim to Toyota North America, Inc. They fixed the car in 2 days. If you are considering having repair work done at Limbaugh Toyota, please reconsider as long as Jeff is the service manager. I just bought a new Sienna here four days ago and had a really good experience in the buying process. Jason was the sales person who worked with me. The thing I liked about him was the respect he gave me from the start. I told him my price and what I wanted and he said "obviously you have done your research. Let's see if we have what you are looking for." After seeing that they did have it in stock, he started looking at the price. They worked with me to get the price down really close to what I wanted and were respectful during the negotiation process. They have me a good price on my trade in too. Signing the paperwork was relatively simple and they clearly went over my financing options I had available.
